2017-18 State of U.S. Ladies Skating

Incredible! She gets that's loop all the way around, doesn't she? I get nervous with that as her SP combination, though, because it's so high risk.

She's doing it in her SP too, though she popped the -3Lo in yesterday's SP.

Yes she did. I almost think it would be better if she moved that combo to the second pass. Maybe open with her double axel and then throw the 3/3. It's a great program if she can hit it.

I just saw a clip of Courtney Hicks from Skate Detroit. Can anyone tell me if her opening Combo is a planned 3/3. She popped the second jump here but, the rest of her program was quite good. She is quite fast across the ice and her edge quality is very good. Her spins have really improved and she has a much softer quality about her this year..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMl8ubMvStQ

Thank you! Love the program, love Courtney - I'm so glad to see this.:)

The norm for club "summer" competitions is scores are posted about 2-3 days after the entire competition ends.

Can't wait to see Mirai's full FS. And loved that she looked really "into" it.

So what happens now? The ladies have their "Final" tomorrow evening? That's when I plan on going 😁🤗🤗
But which ladies even made the final?

Here's Mirai's full long program, along with other full videos :hap93:

The person taking the video did really well for a cell phone. I really like this program for her. It high lights her strengths. Mirai's off to a good start. Last year her FS scored 98. This year it scored 123. It looks like the first half is almost settled. She should be pretty strong by the start of challenger series.

Thanks Ice Dance...This ended up being a much better event than I was expecting. Mirai and Courtney both look great.....In fact.....Mirai might be in the best shape of her life....I'm so proud of both of our ladies and I'm very excited to see the rest of the field....Bravo!!!!

Look at this picture of Mirai...She looks toned and stunning!!!! http://figureskatersonline.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IMG_4798_copy.jpg

Mirai looks great for this point in the season- she looks well trained, you can tell she still has to think about the program but its a good place for now. I love the music cuts they used- I hate when people use music from a musical and then try to cram every piece of music possible in it.

Courtney's jumps are impressive as always but I will be muting her freeskate this season- it sounds very 'Christian Radio', I don't think the song was a bad choice- but the version she is using is distracting and not in a good way.

I feel so bad for Courtney, a medalist twice at grand prixs and this year getting no assignments. Maybe she'll get the tbd SA, but that spot isn't guaranteed to an American, is it?
Although I have a feeling it could be polina's or bradie 's ...

In theory USFSA could pick someone who is not USA... but that is pretty unlikely as we have so many skaters. I am hoping Courtney gets it after her performance here. Ultimately it is up to USFSA and they will do what they think in their convoluted heads is most logical.

Polina could be up for it if she is looking like the GPF is in the cards for her... who knows.

No idea if Bradie is staying junior or not... she never gets me excited, but her record is respectable and if she has a strong summer showing, I would be please enough to see her get the chance.

I suspect Frank is politicking for Tessa Hong a fair amount. I'd want her to have a heck of a summer to get the spot though.

Honestly I wish Caroline Zhang was more in the conversation. She was 5th at Nationals... that is good enough i see nothing wrong with hoping she get a GP spot.

So who knows. I think Courtney may have laid down the standard... we will see who rises to the occasion.
