2017-18 State of U.S. Ladies Skating

Not to worry, lol. I guess the thread was overdue for a lot of OTT outrage, consternation and :drama:

:scratch2:

I would hardly call the discussion about Rohene and Mariah OTT, outraged or overly dramatic  But maybe you were referring to something else.....

Skating lesson just reported SP scores for Socal interclub.

Karen is in the lead with 70.11, her combo was iffy. Ashley is 2nd with 67.45.

No protocols yet.

Sigh... This is the worst part of club comps. The wait...

Oh dear. Those scores don't sound very good compared to other skaters who started the season with personal bests. Le sigh.

I'm not worried. This is Ashley's very first comp, while others have had a few to get their programs broken in. Both Karen and Ashley tend to improve as the season progresses, so this is a good start as far as I'm concerned.

I think Starr was in the comp as well. Skating Lesson reported that "Start" Andrews scored 63.53.

LOL when i first saw the story i thought it was all 2A, such a fail  her first def UR but 2nd and 3rd looks good!! her 3T in combination is also fully rotated before she touches ice at all, really nice

Exactly. (I) NEVER worry over, or take seriously, results of club events - especially pre-season ones.

Having said that, however - I'd say it is fair to keep current expectations for Wagner on a lower level then for Chen based on last season.

Speaking of Instagram stories, Mirai's has a series of her practicing her triples including several 3Axels. The most intriguing though was the 'Tano 3Lutz! It was my fave jump along with the final 3Axel! I wish we could save and share these Story videos!

theskatinglesson on instagram posted all her jumps in their most recent post if you still have not seen them yet. pretty impressive, love mirai and her 3as are so awesome.

I disagree the first 3a looks rotated to me, not even 1/4 under. I am not seeing the UR whatsoever despite a turn out.

I suppose I was having an overly dramatic moment myself.:dbana: I miss Ashley . Although I was touched in a glad way to see how many people came in a week or two ago, to say that Ashley is one of their favorites. Even though some of them qualified it with gripes about her choices this season.

Not me.:dance3: I'm thrilled for her. I think she's going to give us some magnificent moments with both programs this season, and will surprise some doubters. If skating to MR gives her confidence and helps her focus on bringing to her performances what she's worked so hard to improve for the last four years, I'm 210% in her corner.

And I'm thrilled for me ... because I'm only addicted to figure skating for one reason ... because of how a skater or a team feels something and makes me feel something, in the moment and in all the subsequent viewings.

^^^ AND I responded to el's post before I read the last two pages of the thread. I'm interested to hear the news that Ashley, Karen and Starr were at the club comp. I half expected Ashley to wait for one of the later ones. But I'm glad to hear she was at this early one. Now she gets some more feedback, has the first comp of the season under her belt, and can work out the kinks and still have time for refinement. And that goes for Karen and Starr as well!

Got it:agree: Yes, comments about Ashley repeating have been .... heated.;) I would love to see Ashley do well, just because I like her feisty personality so much, and I don't really care what her programs are. And I want to see Karen do well because she's Jason's new BFF. And I want to see Mariah do well because she's so darn cute, but I really want to see her skate to Rohene. I don't know so much about the others, since I don't follow ladies....

Go team:cheer:

Emmy Ma will have some tough competition this week but maybe she could medal? Or maybe top 5?

So, a complete and total repeat of the 2015/16 season for Wagner starts tonight?

Can Karen clean up her triple-triple? This week is Japan Open!

Also, according to TSL: "Starr Andrews appeared to injure herself on a jump, withdrew and is limping. Appears to be minor."

Hope she's ok.

Actually I captured the vids and posted them here and in the Mirai fan thread a couple of days ago - before TSL!

it's just slight UR, if u slow down it you can see the toe pick hit the ice before the rotation is complete (it's almost complete tho) it's kinda borderline that might not be called yknow
