I was traveling for the past few weeks and just now getting caught up on the season. Chiming in to say that the Shibs' short dance is my all-time favorite of any of their previous short dances. It is so smart, elegant, fiery, technically superior and sexy without being sibling gross. Spectacular! I also LOVE the new elements in their long program, but I'm going to have to let the music grow on me. It looks like Maia is finally beginning to let go and enjoy herself. They look so different and I cannot put my finger on it. Maybe I'll figure it out by the Olympics.

I cannot wait for Nationals! :hap85:

in the light of all this 'sexual chemistry' talk recently spotted, who has it or who is not, people fighting their personal prejudices over another ones, Shibutanis for me really re-defined in some extend 'Latin dance' stereotype. It is not about sexuality, sensuality or any other '-ity' there - they simply made connection with music and between themselves and transferred the energy onto audience. For me, it's all about to make the dance, the movement, the musicality pop out in a way to highlight team's best assets - to mould the convention, the restrictions into personal, individual way of expression, not to act up onto some imaginary picture 'how Latin dance, Latin movement, Latin chemistry should look like'. What I want to see is the confidence, dedication and conviction of teams, not the 'sexual/sensual chemistry' sought by some these days, this 'chemistry' won't do the whole performance and execute itself into elements. When I saw Maia and Alex's SD at Rostelecom, I saw the whole picture, moment created, not really paying attention if they have something I'd like to see - their dance convinces people actually to their vision of Latin dance instead of making them wonder if it should look different.

So cool to see the friendships and connection that Maia and Alex have with so many different athletes from other sports!

Marina's thoughts on the shibs, V/M and P/C http://fs-gossips.com/marina-zueva-mood-shouldnt-be-a-criterion-for-the-attitude-to-work/ it is sad it feels like marina doesn't believe in Maia and Alex's chances of winning and she doesn't really know how to help them. After their performances at cup of Russia her expression says she is not that interested in their results maybe I'm wrong. Working with other specialists is a good thing maybe they should change their coach after the olympics, I think 10 years is enough...
