Alina Zagitova

I think she's learning French at school. In Russian schools a foreign language is a compulsory subject. In schools, students are given a choice of English, French, German. Most often teach only English, less often English and French, or English and German. Half of the class teaches one language, half learns another language.
This does not mean that she can not be a Francophile. :)
 
So, from the past few pages I understood that English-spoken community here encourage skaters to learn English, but don't want (or for some reason can't) explore any foreign language. Hmm. Interesting, don't you think.
 
Here, half a dozen forum members showing interest in Russian in the last 2 months:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. And there are even more expressing regret about not speaking it.

Noo, actually I said that I'd encourage her (and all persons) to learn as many languages as possible, but I know that she doesn't have time right now. And as in sports, the younger you are when you start to learn a foreign language the better.

I read an interview somewhere where she said her English "was bad" but it's "improving." So she does know some English but she might not feel comfortable being interviewed yet. Evgenia's English has come on in leaps and bounds so hopefully Alina's will too.

you are right, but actually I didn't mean you exactly. I made this conclusion by many posts from different users from various threads.

and? What did you want to say by this? That people just express their dreams and not transform them into real deal? I'm not about Russian language actually. I'm about English-speakers wishing that people learn English, but why? Why don't they learn foreign languages instead of complains? Forget about it. Just my outlook.
 
Probably Alina learns English in Sambo-70 school аnd she studied French at her old school in Izhevsk. So often happens with children who were transferred to a new school. It turns out a new school teach only English.
At all, plenty of russian youth has a little bit knowledge in English. At least at the level ''London is the capital of Great Britain'', ''My name is...'', ''I'm from...'' etc just like me

Somehow I forgot that she must be terribly overworked, so much focused on her trainings. I think she said she is at Sambo school once a week, spending whole day there. It obviously means a lot of self-studying at home after trainings; biology, chemistry, history. That sort of stuff. She definitely has much less time for learning foreign languages than I have :rolleye:

I was wondering if Alina's family has moved to Moscow at one point or if she is still alone there. Does the club have facilities for skaters who are not from Moscow? Families they live with?

She lives with her grandmother in a rent flat. Her family, mother, father and her sister live in their native town.
 
I wonder if/when Sabina will ever come to Moscow for training conditions like Alina did. I'm not sure what her level is but she's part of the Zagitova family, so...
 
I guess Sambo-70 has facilities for their top-level sportsmen, but the thing is that her farther is working at Izhevsk's hockey club. Maybe her mother's life is also very much connected with this town. That's why they're not moving to Moscow. It's a pity for Alina, she is likely to be so sad about that.
 
Alina's family is not reach and her parents work in Izhevsk. They don't have an opportunity to live in Moscow with Alina because it is very expensive for them + it is hard to find a job in Moscow.

Judging by those scores, nothing special. But for instance, at that age Shcherbakova didn't have any triples and as a 13yo had a quad.

These transitional periods are tough to judge. It's much easier when at an earlier age where everyone has only doubles and at a later age when everyone has triples. It's not really all that important whether you get the triples as a 9yo or as a 12yo for the purposes of the end result.
 
In one of her interviews Alina told that Sabina is more talented, more active and leaning faster so everything is possible.
