2017-18 State of U.S. Men's Figure Skating

I want Jason to be on that team because he hit over a million views on you tube, and his emotive feel transcends on ice. Love Adam this season, but he needs to not crack under Grand Prix Final pressure and feel his emotionsas to go. were too much. Nathan h

I'm in suspense with the rest of your thoughts. :)

* 1 point if they're in a slot; 1/2 point if they're in a group for a single slot
** I gave ice coverage's "to close to call" 0.5 points for everyone on the board at the time she posted.

Now that I understand the criteria, I'd like to revise my votes:

Want,

Nathan, Vincent, Max: 1 point each -

Total of "want" - 3 points

Will:

Nathan: 1 point
Vincent : .68 point
Max : .58 point
Adam .32 point
Jason: .275 point
Ross: .105 point
Torgeshev: .04 point

Total of "will" - 3 points

Edit: I tried to throw some irrational numbers in there, but I couldn't figure out how to key in the Greek symbol for pi.

Well-played; Poor Mrs. P. Who knows what I could say if my math were as good as yours. ;)

^ OMG.

Although I'm tempted to take your vote at face value and revise accordingly. #NumberCrunchingIsAnAddition #ImTryingToAddPostsToThisThread #WhyShouldUSLadiesHaveAllTheFun

Well, we could rehash the 2014 Nats results ...
Or its equivalent in men, the ever popular Jason v. Vincent:drama:

LOL. I'm just clowning.

In all seriousness, thank you for your dedication to our board and all you do to keep things light and lively around here.

May God bless you and your family this season, especially Baby Tonto.

You did name the kid Tonto, didn't you?

Here we go:

Want/Will: Nathan, Adam, Jason

Will/Want runner -up (no points I assume): Max

That aside, I admire many skaters and wouldn't melt down if a dark horse made a surprise gallop --- Tim D., Alex K., Alex J., Vincent

Her name does start with a T... I did that much for you! Many blessings to you and your family as well. And I am full of gratitude for all our lively debates.

Dream team: Nathan, Vincent, Max.
Nathan has a good chance for OGM.
Vincent is the future.
Max is for old timer doing his last hurrah.

Well, I'll start with a bit of speculation. I have a sneaking feeling - entirely unfounded and based on nothing but my own gut - that Max will bring out the fourth quad for Nationals. He could easily do it by switching out his triple Axel-double toe for a quad Salchow-double toe for a layout that might look something like this

4T-3T
4S
3Lo
4T
4S-2T
3A
3Lz-1Lo-3S
2A

It would be a highly competitive layout, and give him a boost on the TES front. After all, this is the time. Nothing left to lose now.

Why no flip?

Who I want - Nathan, Adam, Vincent/Max
Who will go - Nathan, Adam, and Max/Vincent

My view on the top guys
Nathan - Most people think of him as the quad kind but I think of him as an amazing spinner. The first time I saw him skate in person was YEARS ago practice before a Michel Weiss show and his spins were just incredible. I have never seen anyone spin (in person) as well as him. He was been so fun to watch over the years. I do wonder if he podiums at the Olympics (especially if he gets gold) whether he will retire.

Adam - I am a fan of "the witch" and he has been my favorite for years. There is just something about his skating that "clicks" for me. He has had several set backs along the way but he seems to come back even stronger each time.

Max - He is always fun to watch and look forward to seeing him but have never really appreciated his style. I really hope he brings his A game to Nationals.

Vincent - I think he is the most underappreciated guy this year and I think a part of it is his super reserved personality. Last year he seemed to come out of nowhere to get 2nd at Nationals. His GP season with respectable but I am expecting a surge like last year at Nationals. I see a sparkle with him and I waiting for it finally surface.

Jason - He has never floated my boat but he was consistent up until this year. I am wondering if he is injured.

2A is worth more than 3Fe with -GOE.

People will complain either way.

Does Max have a 3A combo? I don't mind leaving out the flip but, I think he needs a second 3A. I want him to make the team so badly and I think if he goes clean, he will. For some reason, I worry that if he makes a mistake, the judges will go with Jason. Adam has had a great season and just beat Jason so I think barring a disaster, that he will make the team as well. The thing is, Jason made the GPF and Max didn't......That's why Max has to be perfect at Nationals...

If he repeats 4T and 4S, he can't also repeat the 3A

My wants are purely selfish:

First I want a spot for Adam. He’s been pretty stable this season, so my hopes are promising. He’s got good tech including jumps, spins, steps and at least he tries a quad. Love both his programs. Obvious that he loves them too. I’m so happy he’s found his true style.
Second is Nathan because of his relaxed cool image, difficult jumps, nice spins and an overall pleasant look. His short program is a gem. He definitely brings the sport forward and his nation is lucky to have him. He should bring (even for just a while) more interest to figure skating in USA.
Third Max. I enjoy his skating this season, but only when he nails his jumps. No pops and stumbles Max :roll5: Funny how Max loves his classical skate music.

What will happen is a guessing game. I hope all guys have a great happy time preparing for nationals and that they soon let something slip to us fans.

Wills: Adam, Nathan and Vincent.

And that would be fine by me as well. Vincent is intriguing to watch. His determination and young freshness. Would be awesome to see a better show from him than in his autumn competitions. Actually I’m fine with whoever goes, even Jason. Haha, kidding, he deserves it as much as anyone. I’m not that fond of his programmes though, but I enjoy watching his spins, steps and some of his moves.

Well, as long as they all attack, skate their best and show they really want a spot I’m satisfied. For sure some of them will be disappointed, but ’thats sport’. Let’s hope the gold, silver and bronze medalists at nationals are the same as the US olympians. I’m a Ross fan, so if he has the skates of his life and medals… let him go! I’m not that familiar with the rest of the pack(except for Krasnozhon who is Russian) Anyway I’m sure they will all give great performances on their own levels and bring all you lucky guys there a fantastic show.

Nerves will be in play. I recently watched Max’s last national’s short program(hadn’t seen it before). How awful that was for him. Some problems we don’t know about or just bad form that day? I hope no similar skates this nationals. Sure things happen around the skaters that we’ll never know about, but at least please no injury reports.
