Well, figure skating team event is more like a mixed relay.

I think it's quite nice. Any reason to see more performances is a good reason to me.

And I’d say in my perception that the skaters have become more friendly towards each other. Might have nothing to do with it, but it also coincides with the rise of other team figure skating events. Look at gymnastics. It’s not anymore a team sport than skating, but it’s been treated as such. It developed camaraderie and from what I can see there have been issues in the past of a lack of this.

I love the team event! Maybe even more than the individual even if for very different reasons.

Hey, I'll still watch it because it's more skating. There's also less pressure than in the main event for each skater. But it feels forced. Figure skating is not a team sport. A hockey team has to train together to perform like a team. You can literally pick skaters who train in different parts of the world and say "Ok, you're a team now".

It's not exactly the same. Most gymnasts compete in all disciplines in the team event (when they compete individually outside the team event), whereas figure skaters do not.

The team event is entertaining, but to me still feels forced.

No lol it was only for quad in men and 3A in ladies. And you have to fully rotated it. Since ladies didnt have quad its better to perform easier tech and be clean. falling/stepout/UR in 3Lz-3T is same with base value of 3T+3T. If you do it clean you can have + GOE and get extra 1~1.5 points so its better to perform easier tech clean than doing harder tech but with stumble

This is true. That's why for someone like Gabby Daleman, it was worth switching her triple-triple from 3Lz-3T to 3T-3T. 3Lz-3T wasn't consistent because her 3Lz is so big, and she gets such high GOE on the 3T-3T.

I think it’s got to be somewhat a challenge to find hairstyles for all of her hair since it’s so long.

The Russians have incredibly long hair, unhealthy by normal standards. I think it works better for the buns and complicated styles.

I am pretty surprised that the USFS didn't put Ashley on the World team at least. Now they are banking on Bradie and one of Karen/Mirai to finish in the Top 10 at Worlds and help gain 3 spots for the following year. Ice is slippery of course, and Bradie has a good shot at Top 10 given her consistency - but that's as far as I'd go. Karen and Mirai could both finish in the top 10 or in the teens, etc. The odds of the US retaining 3 ladies' spots is not good...this smells an awful lot like the combo that the Japanese federation sent last year of Wakaba, Mai and Rika...

Thank goodness for Tennell - desperately hope she can keep her consistency going through the rest of the season - if she can, she should comfortably be top 10 material. Both Chen and Nagasu are big gambles, but potential payoffs could be huge as well. Even Wagner, had she made it, is on her way down and if she's only good for 7th or so, that still puts pressure on one of the other members to be in the top 6 (as happened last year to Chen). Luckily Chen was able to pull it off, but if she hadn't, that would have been it.

3 spots was unlikely last year, but Chen beat the odds. 3 spots is probably even more unlikely this year, but that said, you never really know.

Yes, i agree, if Chen didn't skate well at Nationals, I think that would have been it for her....they would have went with Ashley I think, and I think Chen knew this in the back of her mind, that's why she skated with so much fire in her eyes this time.

you cannot cancel it haha. I tried to cancel mine a couple years ago, and someone here told me you can't cancel it, that it will just expire on its own? lol. i had to change my password again because I couldn't remember it since I hadn't logged on for so long.

Karen/Mirai finishing in the top 10 isn't going to bring back the 3 spots. There is no way Bradie is going to place in the top 3 even with clean skates. Bradie and Mirai/Karen would have to finish 5th and 7th. That's not going to be easy.

Their own criteria. What's USFS to do?

Chen wins Tier 1. Tier 2 is mixed, but given the poor 4CC result by Chen, you could give it to Wagner. Chen wins Tier 3. But Tier 1 is most important.

If they picked Wagner instead, people would be SCREAMING politics and declaring that their published criteria is a farce and they just pick based on favoritism. And you know what? I wouldn't be able to disagree with that.
