Icenetwork is reporting, per a tweet, that Bruno may have a serious back flare-up, putting their Olympic run in jeopardy. That would be terrible! Get well, big man!

Oh man... not the kind of news I was looking for! Thank goodness they didn't skate at euros, but this is worrying, so close to the olympics... hope he gets better soon and it's not too serious. :( Does anyone know if they plan to skate the sp or fs (or both?) of the team event? I initially thought it would be good warm up for bruno before the individual event, but now with the potential injury...a little more time might be good.

I have found it: http://www.icenetwork.com/news/2018/01/19/264926334/russian-solyanka-massots-ailing-back-acting-up
It seems they're really serious about his healing so maybe they will be ok for the Olympics.

The german commentator on ONE who knows them pretty well and talks to them regularly, said something about Bruno's back problems too, but it didn't sound like the participation in PC is in jeopardy, to be honest. But he also said that Aliona wants to continue another season, while Bruno is hesitant. I asked myself why, because he's the younger part of the pair, but knowing about his back pain it makes sense to quit after PC, no matter where there end up.

If S/M get bronze, (Aljona’s third bronze) I will actually cry. This is her 5th olympic cycle I believe (correct me if I am wrong), and if she comes 3rd again that will be devastating. I really want them to win gold, as much as I am biased towards other teams.
It would be great for Savchenko to get gold and then retire happily knowing that she has all the titles possible.

A short clip about Aljona and Bruno from a German TV. Aljona says that skating is her life and Bruno promised that they will give their best at the Olympics (she had to constantly correct his grammar ) And it turns out that she is facebook addicted :dev3:

This was so funny! Don't tell anybody about the grammar corrections. They might make Bruno take the test again! :laugh2: They're so cute together!

Hey, I've just read on German media that Aljona and Bruno will be skating at the team event. Do you thing it will be a good idea?

[emoji51] to be honest there are pros and cons to this situation.

If they skate in the team event, they can get their nerves out of their system, especially for Bruno, and also let all the potential mistakes (if any) release out of their system. I think it will also be like a practise run through sort of thing.
If Bruno’s back is not 100% stable, he could exacerbate the problems in the team event and make matters worse. Worst case scenario: someone gets injured or exacerbate an existing problem.

If they skate team event, Aljona will have the opportunity to do the triple axel before individual pairs which is a good thing I suppose.

Best of luck to them <3

From reports, pulling out of Euros was due to Bruno's back and they've done a ton of conditioning and rehab to make sure it's 100%. He should be completely healthy, according those reports, and having your first competition back be the Olympics individual pairs event can be super stressful so I'm glad that they're doing the team event. (Also so that I can see them earlier, but that's neither here nor there...)

I've just watched their SP from the team event. Too bad for the fall but everything else was great :clapper: It shows that they have worked very hard this whole time, I think Bruno's presentation was also better than ever :luv17:

Oh, that's too bad. I can give you a couple of screenshots to see their new costumes at least :)

Bruno's vest is dark grey on the front and lighter on the back matching Aljona's dress. She also had a dark red lipstick on, suiting his bow-tie. As you see the boards have a very intense purple colour which can be very distracting but it went very good with their costumes. And I can't wait for their FS at the individuals event, it will be all white and purple

Programme wise they started with a very high twist as usual and than did the SBS jumps well. The only mistake was on the throw triple lutz, where she couldn't hold off and fell. I heard Aljona comenting on German media that they made the entry for the throw axel but then made a lutz, so that's why the mistake happened :scratch2:

Thank you so much

Is this still the That Man SP?

Thank god Bruno got rid of the tie and went for the bow instead, the tie has caused him so many troubles in the past with falling off and breaking etc.

Will they be wearing the same purple and white costume for their FS? Or have new costumes?
I remember Aljona switched a few times, with SA and SC, they were all different costumes.

I’m glad they didn’t go for a new program. That Man was good for gold at GPF.
