Alina Zagitova

She's a really tough girl who put out two perfect programs at the most important moment. Congratulations on your OGM, Alina!

I don't think Alina and Zhenya will just go away they way Adelina and Yulia did. Injuries hurt them alot after the 2014 games. I hope Alina and Zhenya stay healthy and continue skating no matter how many good junior Russians there are.

By the way Christine Brennan is at it again writing that the wrong Russian won. :( So unfair yet predictable from this clown who still can't get over Alina's backloaded program. Sometimes I think if Brennan saw a basketball game where one team beat another 103 to 100 that the team with 100 points won the game. ;)

I am about to go into Zhenya's thread. I hope it's good in there and they aren't going crazy and angry. We have to remember Zhenya and Alina are friends for life not just teammates.

Oh I forgot one of the most important things. Alina was world junior champion last year and Olympic champion this year. It's unprecedented! I hope they don't hold her back let her go to worlds and if she wins Russian nationals in december she will have had quite the year! ;) Let's not forget she is Eurpean champion too and ended Medvedeva's great winning streak there. That's when Alina really became a threat for gold.

Congrats to Eteri too. It's an incredible run for her these 2 now and Yulia 4 years ago.

It's amazing how much she has progressed this season, she's not the same skater she was at the start! I'm so so happy for her ❤❤❤

I saw a video of Zagitova doing 3Lz+3T+3Lo in practice that looked easy... and it would be awesome if she did that at worlds along side two +2Lo combinations. It would truly be the absolute "most difficult program" you can do without a 3A or quad while doing a hard element that gets no credit for it's difficulty.

And she really ought to post something up on instagram today in order to garner more instagram followers.

It would be really nice if someone was able to upload the BBC and British Eurosport versions of her programs.

After realizing she won the Olympics she looked so humble and it made me really emotianal. She is the cutest. 😍 Congrats Alina you deserved it.

I really like her FS. She is perfect with that costume. She looks fit with that, and her skating is so well. Fluently. Great jumps. I think she was underscored on PCS. The judges just didn't want her to break Ev FS and Total record.

Yeah, hm. The PCS is considered overscored but the Finnish commentators(Laura Lepistö and some former coach) were very surprised about her PCS being so low and thought she deserved more.

Although, I still disagree with the programs. I like her SP much more and I hope that for the next season she has a better FS with more attention to detail.

This time Alina got a bit less points for her FS than at Euro (and Evgenia a bit more than at Euro). But SP of Alina was the best of her this year. And that is why she is 1st.

i am seldom on this forum but have followed figure skating since i was a child and i was so happy alina won. she really deserves it; thought she had lost her shot after she missed the 3Lo but she tacked it on at the end of her Lutz later. what a fighter. i haven't been this excited for a skater since yuna tbh. although evgenia is good too she doesn't really draw me in the way alina has done. she has ways to go in her artistic component, but there's also a lot that has been done well. all the crying people about inflated PCS also have to realise that PCS rewards a programme which is technically sound. the higher your TES, will also bump up your PCS a lot of times and its been this way in ladies skating for a long time. not bobbling any jumps also raises PCS, which alina hasn't done.

i liked her SP more than her FS, i felt like she was neater on her jumps and spins for her SP, and her choreo wasn't as tight in LP. still well done, but you could definitely tell her nerves in LP especially at the start, though she seemed to ease into it as she went. she held it together well though its hard to imagine how young she is and dealing with everything without even her parents with her.

also i just thought i wanted to say that i really love her SP, especially how she does her jumps in a row. the consecutive jumps really mirror the 32 fouettes in swan lake. in fact i think the choosing of ballet music really supports the whole consecutive jumping because it is what ballet dancers do as well. people need to stop ragging on her backloading because for one it actually does make sense for her music choice and its pretty sound in general. also its ridiculously hard to backload and people don't do it because they can't. even evgenia did try it but they stuck with the current layout in the end and she is a great jumper as well. if people all could backload all their jumps, they would but at this point it just seems like lots of sour grapes

Let's see in world championship if she takes all what there is to take in one season.
That will amazing to this wonderful young skater.
When i did see FS today i did get same kind of shivers when Mao and Yuna skate in Vancouver.
:hap57::thank:
