Anna Shcherbakova

Zheleznyakov:
"I believe nobody will repeat her [Trusova] achievement for next 100 years. Maybe only Anya Shcherbakova."

What a competition it would have been at Junior Worlds if fully fit Anna could have been there also with atleast one quad.

Hopefully we will see both Sasha and Anna at the Junior Worlds next seasons.

So, what do you think, can Anna break any of Sasha's junior records next season assuming she has got her quad back by August? SP record can be broken by multiple skaters for sure but 153 points in free skate and 225 points in total are something totally else. Obviously it would require two very clean quads and a very clean rest of the program or two so-so quads, a 3A and a very clean rest of the program to break those records.

^Not TES, for sure. Overall probably not as well, but if PCS were scored adequatly on junior level, which as we know doesn't take place, Anya might get close, if she came back with full force.

The longevity of Sasha's quads vs longevity of Anya's potential ones is whole another story though. Anna is very promissing in this matter imo.

Next season, I really don't think so. Even if Anna has 4T and a 4T combo, I don't think it would be enough. There's just not enough room for winning in PCS at juniors, juniors are essentially purely decided by technical content.

I guess the only possibility would be if she got quad Lutz but I really don't think that's realistic. Maybe it could have been if she hadn't been injured but right now it's a great success if she just manages to get her 4T back.

This is true, though. Anna should have better prospects here. If there was one quad that should last through puberty it would be Anna's.

Whatever her content will be, i just hope we get to see her at JGP next season. It's a pity that she had to miss the entire season like that. This talent should be shown to the world.

Daniil Gleikhengauz:
"- If an athlete is ready for this, if they have physical, jumping abilities, should we stop them? And is there any sense in this, if they can? There is no sense in doing it if they can.
For example, in our group there is also Anya Shcherbakova, who does quad toe. She has practically recovered from the injury, won the Russian Cup final, jumps all five triple jumps, the triple Lutz-triple loop combo. At the end of the season, we will return to the quad toe loop. Carefully, gradually. Sasha does two quads. It pushes the other girls to try. But the main thing is that all girls want this very much. They push each other, they try to catch up."

2 and a half weeks until the ... uh, spiritual Russian junior championships? Hopefully Anna does great there and then gets to have a healthy and fruitious off season. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible in preparation for the next season~

Well, I think that winning here would really increase her status, give her some leash regarding JGP spots and such. If she had a very poor performance it might become difficult for her...

Well, considering that there are lots of rather strong girls not even qualifying there (including Tarakanova/Panenkova) I don't think her situation will be that bad in any case. I hope at least one JGP spot is guaranteed for her even if she will perform there poorly.

Let's not forget that Anna recently won the Russian Cup, where she beat Trusova.. and who else did that this season? ;) That should be enough to grant her JGP spot..

Really, though?

Apart from Anna, who is hopefully landing quads in competition next season, all other girls have now seen it can be done. Eteri's students have seen how it can be done from with first row seats and her coaches have learned how to help girls achieve this.
Less than 100 years ago, girls jumped singles and nobody would have though they would have been able to do triples.

I agree that 100 years is quite a big exaggeration.
But then guys also know "it can be done" and how many double quad programs have you seen at the junior worlds in guy's category? ;)
That it can be done doesn't mean it will become a standard.. after all, human bodies have limits.. it's probably not possible to do one more spin..

they've probably seen it 1000 times at trainings :)

I've heard, that before injury Shcherbakova was jumping dozens of 4Ts with total ease. Quite possibly 3Lz/3Lo combos were more problematic for her, hence injury.

Her 4Ts were so beautiful I wouldn't doubt that... I really hope we get to see them in competition next season already, and that she gets back to such a level.

I think that she's just too thin. I'm not a doctor by any means, but it just seems to me that with such thin bones it's easy to get injured by doing any jumps on the ice, be it doubles or quads.

It might be truth, but it's natural genetics, not diet or "powders", so they can't do much, just wait for body to develop and strengthen.
I think she simply needs individual, maybe a little slower approach and stricter physical supervising in trainings which, as Daniil said in latest interview, the group provide.
