I remember seeing a gif on twitter of the final part of his FS at the oly vs worlds. he was really happy and at peace at worlds, even smiling so much which he doesn't do much in competitions, while even after the fantastic fs at the Olympics his face was so upset. :sad4: He overcame so much. It really can't be stated enough how great it was for him to overcome everything and end the season on a high like he did.

Back from the Edge remains amazing, especially since he obviously just threw it together on the plane from Milan and the lyrics really resonate!

I hope they show BFTE on the NBC broadcast. In the Legends performance Nathan was off on the timing for his spread eagle at the end but when he times it right it works really well.

Funny how Ashley barely touches Nathan while Madison and Meryl are all over him. Although that could be because they are ice dancers and used to that kind of choreo.

Nathan is improvising all the time for sure.
Actually, if you pay attention to the "reaching star" parts of "Back from edge", the moves he did are not always the same but alway on the music. Could do a montage of all the "reaching star" moves in "Back from the edge"

Both Ashley and Nathan need to put a lot more more heat into this routine.

I actually thought Ashley seemed even more hesitant than Nathan in that regard.

I'm kinda lol that people thought this would work better with Nathan and Karen though ?

here in the final upright position (transit directly from sit, reminds me of his former beautiful upright to sit spin in Last dancer ), the so-called "butt spin". notoriously ugly, almost impossible to perform it well. Yet Nathan's flourish made it so beautiful.

This butt spin actually has another beautiful name is called "umbrella spin" I think it is originated from Kurt Browning's commentary, when it was done beautifully for once by some lady skater's flourish.

I don't get the age thing - it's not like all pairs skaters and ice dancing partners are closely matched in age?

Karen seems quite sheltered to me, I'm not sure how her and Nathan would work ice dancing to these semi-steamy lyrics.

I really hope to see karen ice dance together with Nate, who knows what will happen, maybe Karen is shy or sheltered, but it is Nate she is dancing with. Some sparkles/steam may happen.

height is not the issue, as long as Nathan does NOT hunch.

Chinese pair, sui/han's height difference is not that big at all, but they made it work.

Alex Wong is not particular tall but he made it work with relatively tall partner.

I mentioned Karen because she’s the only singles lady left short enough and with enough height difference to Nathan for it to look less weird. Mirai is same height as Ashley so it would look just as uncomfortable. The problem here was Jeff thinking he had to have 3 couples regardless of discipline and made it look awkward. Should’ve just used H/D and D/W and it would have been fine.

Speaking of ice dance partners' height difference,
guys I have to post this here, just recalled this, they are not professional ice dancers, just ice danced together for a show like Nathan here. Not much height difference at all,
but they made it work, so dreamy, streamy and romantic. Nathan you should watch and learn.

Ya I think among the girls only Ashley could dance with him on that front. Karen might feel a little uncomfortable? She is a shy baby.

Oh yeah, I agree. Having singles skaters with H/D and D/W is just going to make the other couple look awkward regardless. They aren't used to it at all.
