Nathan Chen

Video of Nathan in the finale. I love the way he combines upper and lower body movements together so naturally.

That is a great video--Nathan is in front, and even in the far-from-glamorous white outfit his movements are just gorgeous. The finale aired on NBCSN but the camera followed Adam so I'm really glad for footage like this. Thank you very much for finding this!

I hate show quads but as show quads go that one had great distance and flow out! Good camera work too, wish it were a longer video but very grateful for what we got! Thank you for finding and sharing

I read a very complimentary assessment of Nathan in the guys group number and was very glad I got to see him a good portion of the time (when he's not out of camera frame) in this video segment. Thank you again :)

The pictures are great. But oh what a moment the camera chose to capture! :) Several times! And the discussions are hilarious  Thank you again for all the goodies :luv17:

If Nathan is taller, he should be an ice dancer. He dances better than the real ice dancer guys.

I prefer to have an unobstructed view of his skating--even an attractive lady ice dancer would still be an obstruction

plus he would have to have some real heft to be able to lift a partner, not just be taller than her. but yeah i would love to see him just dance, preferably with really good skating skills, since he isn't dancing on a dry stage but on slippery ice

@ skfan love your quote “even an attractive lady ice dancer would still be an obstruction.” a good one. Now the black net top looks not too bad with the lightning (per Marni twt pic) and the nice fan photo shots. Nathan’s group numbers look more polished on the movements and his techniques and components looks a lot smoother in transition in the back on the edge, tsk tsk impressed of his effort.

Skating clubs pay to have their kids skate in the intermission group performance of local kids, they get in because that's when they practice it (since it's composed of different local clubs).

Media and then the skaters family/close friends. That's all.

Well it’s too late to be a skater haha so time to link up with local clubs that will be going, my to-do list 😉 I like how the US SOI are working with local clubs/skaters to promote the sport and offer the young skaters to have this personal experience with the professionals, even people in other performing arts, this is great.

Side note: the Providence crowd was so enthusiastic and loud comparing to the first weekend audiences base on the skaters posts and videos.

Well I made my first side by side video comparison! It took a while, and I'll probably end up redoing it so more is visible. But this is a comparison between Nathan's FS US International classic and World Championship.

thank you for the kind words. even though i do in fact appreciate (other skaters) pair skating and ice dancing  and i even sort of like the ashley number now ;)

i agree with your observations--nathan has been improving in all his numbers, a truly dedicated full time SOI cast member

of the nathan photos sheetz linked, i actually like the pic in all white best of that series, although of course he looks good in all of the costumes, even in the fruit netting one (yes, less displeasing under certain lighting).

You'd have to be a certain level anyway .

The crowds in New England and many other parts of the country they will be going to like the Mid-Atlantic and Upper Midwest next few weeks are more of a skating crowd and more robust in their reactions and applause etc.

The skate club kids really only do a small number themselves, usually at the start of the second half, it's nothing too exciting TBH. :confused2:

Well said. The finale shows off his postures and beautiful movements with the clean white costume, it wasn’t a fav group of mine but now will glue to him (not that there’s a second option) when they perform it

I’m going to ask my parents why they didn’t push me to pursue FS when I was 5. :) Maybe we can spot a future Nathan in the kids number haha

@ skfan - me too, his ice dance with Ashley is starting to grow on me (told ya universe, he should do ice dance after single) and aside from Nathan, I’m looking to see Charlie/Meryl, the ice dancers and Adam’s sass.
