Alina Zagitova

Thanks for the post and translation. Does anyone know why there is a ban from calling Alina the Olympic Champion?

I also read from the same article - also googled translated - "Apparently in the leadership of the bank there are fans of FC who are fed up with this post-Olympic bacchanalia." >> what does this mean?

What a strange situation not being able to call her or what she is Olympic champion. But the good news is this has nothing to do with Eteri who kept trying to downplay Alina Zagitovas gold medal after the Olympics.

I hope Alina skates for as long as possible. She did say she admired Kostna. Great now that Alina has a sponsor maybe her family can move in with her haha. Her apartment looked too shabby for an olympic champion. She needs a bigger house for Masaru.

Nope, I'm with you all the way, on both issues. I love reading all the interviews, seeing the videos and all the pictures, the more, the merrier.

:)

Lol, after realizing it wasn't her, I dunno how I could have missed it the first time around.

Yes, the more the merrier! How I wish more (or in fact, ALL) of the videos come with captions and subtitles though!

I suppose that sympathies are with Evgenia since she is the "expected winner" and she also has been training with Eteri for a far longer time, so I guess Eteri will feel for her and cannot show too much excitement for Alina in consideration of Evgenia's feelings?

But still does not stop me from wondering why would Eteri want to downplay Alina's gold medal, since Alina is also her student and it also reflects well on her as a coach and will bring her the same glory.

In older competition videos, Eteri shows more enthusiasm when Alina wins - I wonder if it is because Evgenia is not in those same competitions so she can show more freely. Only in the European Championships and Olympics where both girls are competing, Eteri is more restrained. Or is it really true that Eteri favours one over the other?

Me too, I wish we had more captions (good ones, made by humans and not YouTube auto generated “me tarzan you bathroom blender” incomprehensible subs).

I actually saw a gif of the gliding in Alena’s Fan Fest here and after seeing it I’m like, man, her hair and her smaller frame should have made me notice.

Guess I was blinded by Alina’s awesomeness in her jumps and spins. And guess when they edited it they needed more transition shots than they had filmed.

Before you go wild about all this "can't call her an Olympic champion" stuff, I have to remind you that this is just a stupid rumor, never confirmed by anyone.

And we have a blog post on sports.ru about the commercial: https://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/taliaskate/1662337.html

- It is noteworthy that the Savings Bank was also banned from calling Alina Olympic champion. Apparently there are real restrictions on federal channels, but they bypassed the ban creatively and in their own way

She wasn't called Olympic champion, because they referred to her as a World record holder - as a metaphor for the bank having a World record credit percentage. It's not a ban, just a conception of the commercial. The people on sports.ru tend to overreact A LOT to everything regarding Med & Zagi. I strongly advise to filter out the information that is being posted there in the blogs and comments.

- Alina can be congratulated on another victory, she is the first figure skater in the country, who appeared in such a large and high-quality commercial.

And to be honest, she's not first in this sense. For example, Sotnikova appeared in Nike's commercial a while ago.

P.S. btw, guys what do you think about this fragment with waving? could be considered as a trolling attempt towards other "swan" programs, because voiceover says:
And no matter how hard others are trying, there is only one record-holder

I loled at that as well! Precisely the way I viewed a particular "swan" at this year's ladies free skating  As much as I like her SP, her insane points for that "swan" are beyond my understanding, especially compared to Alina or Hanyu's elegant Notte Stellata.

I'm pretty sure author meant the whole "Zhenya's deserved gold" fest by feds, commentators and some fans.
In the next sentence he wrote about somebody in the Sberbank being true fan of of fs, admiring Alina and that this admiration emanates from the commercial. :)

They tried to KO somebody. :dev3:

Oh, yay Sberbank! [emoji1320]

There is actually a teeny-tiny side-note in the video regarding where these numbers came from, it says it's "Number of students of figure skating schools as of March,27, 2018". I guess they've requested for statistics from Federation and got some rough numbers.

Wow that is super cool info and thank you so much for this!!!

How much crap does Alina have to put up with? smh. First her coach at a press conference sitting right next to Alina Zagitova says don't call Alina Olympic champion and now the bank that she does a TV commercial for can't refer to her as Olympic champion? This is truly ridiculous. It's time for zagitova to get proper media representation and agent that's only refer to her as Alina Zagitova Olympic champion for Russia when she's doing a TV commercial, interview or performing. I wonder if all of this especially the comments from TAT and others and Eteri's unhappy reaction to Alina winning the olympic SP breaking Mevedeva's just set world record bothers Alina. It should. How much more can she take?

Do you really think the largest bank in Russia would care about some opinions from people like TAT? Again you're starting this pointless drivel without any understanding of what's happening. This is just the way bank has chosen to make an ad. The bank just says that it has lowest crediting rates in their own history(record) and they draw a parallel with Alina who is also a record holder in some sense. This is the reason they refer to Alina as a record-holder. You probably forgetting that this ad has been made for a bank, not for Alina.

I loved the nike commercial with Adelina, the other female Russian athletes and the singing too. It was awesome. I also like Alina's commercial and want to see more commercials from her in the near future.

Alina has a strong will and mind, but her personality is quiet and humble. She will be just fine and knows that she has earned her place.

As her father said in a post-win interview, this is her character.
