Alina Zagitova

Was rewatching the NBC com (Tara and Johnny) for Alina’s FS on the team event and Johnny said that her 3Lutz+3loop combo is worth almost as much points as a quad lutz because of where it was placed on the program.

With that info i think for the next season Alina will only add a new jump (3axel or quad) if she is really comfortable and consistent with it, as a way to push the envelope even further. She really doesn’t need to do it to be super competitive and can dó pretty awesome just by further perfecting the jumps she already has on her arsenal.

Hello! Can I ask how/where you were watching that NBC feed?

Thank you so much for sharing this, and the posts are now complete with all the stories (5 posts in all). Reading fan accounts of their encounters with Alina is always great, and they all have the same vibe and general theme it is great to see how kind she is to people.

If you want to see bigger versions of the pictures and more pictures you can catch them at this same person's blog (it is written in Korean) http://gall.dcinside.com/figureskating_new/1149369

Those stories were so heartwarming. I especially LOVED the story about how the fans were so amazed and appreciative that Alina performed her Olympic short program 3 nights in a row. AND the story about how she dried someone's program on her sleeve before signing it.

I love the way she won over people in Japan and South Korea not just with her skating, but also because of who she is as a person.

Also loved the interaction between Alina and Aliona Savchenko.

Hi [emoji112]

I recorded it, just went to look around and see if by any chance the videos were up somewhere but nope.

Will keep an eye out and if I find them I’ll post the link here and again quote your post.

@aobrienfansite Two more 2yo fillies named - Camelot x Cherry Hinton is Zagitova and War Front x Imagine is Mona Lisa's Smile.

....When you know you've REALLY become famous :cool2:

Now I don't play the ponies myself, but my advice to any track-goers out there ----> NEVER BET AGAINST ZAGITOVA!!!!

I agree. Even if not a 3A she could do both 3F 3Lo and 3Lz and 3Lo combination in the free.

Or add more tanos.

This would actually lower her BV. You can only repeat 2 types of jumps, she repeats Lz and F, highest values ones. If she does 3Lz-3Lo and 3F-3Lo, she would repeat the Lo twice, and that has a lower value than the F which is what she would be replacing. Her layout right now is the highest possible BV (minus 2T instead of 2Lo) for a no 3A no quad program. No other way to up the value.

As for 3A, I'm not sure how familiar people on here are with jump technique. But the way her Axel is, she will never get a 3A. You need a VERY good 2A to even consider training at 3A, and it's clear that her 2A is one of her weakest, if not her weakest, jumps. It's out of the question, unless she dramatically improves it to Sasha/Alena/Rika quality, which will probably never happen because it's never been even close in her entire career. She is more likely to land a quad like the loop or flip, which are probably her best jumps. Probably loop, it's higher. But her jumps aren't huge now. She does however have a pretty good combination of height/rotation speed, but for those with successful quads like Sasha, her height isn't nearly close.

As for whether she needs to learn new jumps, that will depend on how the judges reward her with GOEs next season. the -5 to +5 range is huge, and she could lose her BV advantage very easily if others get consistently more GOEs.

Oh okay, I've been wanting to watch the NBC feed cause Johnny was making some interesting commentary but yeah I haven't found it anywhere either :/

Thank you so much!

Ok, everyone, this persons IG is wonderful. She only has 4 posts but they are about Alina and two of them have the sweetest account of meeting her and watching her with Aljona Savchenko after the show. Not kidding I teared up a little reading it. And it ended on a cliffhanger! Waiting patiently for the rest of the story.

I was already a huge fan of Savchenko. Didn't think it was possible to love her more!

The Alina story begins on her prior post. The one before the link I posted. It is so sweet!

Interesting , this person wrote - She came to me staring at me with surprised eyes like a deer.

a lot of people call Alina - Alinenok :luv17:
If you change in Alinenok letter A to letter O - Olinenok (its pronounced and heard very similar)
it will be mean baby deer (fawn) in Russian language ( very close)

I'm sure this has been posted before, but since you are looking for the NBC videos

SP Alina at 15:13.
LP Alina at 29:53

I suppose we are gg to see less photos in the nx few months. [emoji33]

When would we likely see Alina with her new program?

I thought her 2A was better than other ladies out there. If she stops rippon on her jumps I think she can do quads if she tries.

She got very high GOE on everything the entire season. The -5 to +5 range should create an even bigger advantage.

Sometimes if one thing is different everything is different. Different doesn't necessarily mean better. Whatever has been given to her, for better or worse, has worked out in spades. With the exception of Worlds (which I honestly don't think anyone could have foreseen or prevented) she has won everything for two seasons at the Junior and Senior level. She has beaten everyone and Worlds she wasn't defeated so much as she beat herself. :(

I won't even pretend to understand Eteri. But you can't argue with the fact that she gave Alina two mathematically unbeatable programs, choreographed those programs down to the last breath, packaged her beautifully as a ballerina for her senior debut AND did all of this in an Olympic year .

Eteri Georgievna - you are cool !!!
