- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNpgqOFc5oc - Black Swan again but this amazing peep processed the video in a way that eliminated all the extra shine and it looks amazing, and wow her landing on the combo it looked amazing. She hits every single beat of that music.

Her performance here is so beautiful. She is skating for the pure enjoyment of performing.... no worries about scores, medals .... just the love of skating.

I will miss this program a lot. I love the musical selections - especially the way the music from the movie "Moonlight" is used to highlight the choreography - just the way it changes the mood so abruptly - and then the "Black Swan" music comes in again just as her jumping passes will begin. I probably am not wording it correctly - but for me the program just works perfectly on so many levels.

You've worded it very well! It's my favourite program of hers. I wish I could see it live!

It is a true work of art. Full credit to Daniil, Sergey, Eteri, the costume designer and everyone involved. It was the program that gave Alina her WR score and her Olympic Gold medal. She embodied it so beautifully.

Has anyone here sent Alina/any other figure skater fan mail? I know she gets tons of it, but what are the logistics?

You kind of read my mind on this question (with her birthday coming up and all that).

I know the logistics of sending something of any commercial value to someone in Russia is supposed to be real hard (customs forms need to be accurate and you wouldn't want to sent something that requires someone to have to pay fees just to get it), but sending cards and the like maybe not so much of a problem.

I loved your description of her Black Swan. I adore her program, and that is considering how much Black Swan has been used in Figure Skating, and she's been performing it better and better, and in a way that keeps it fresh for me (with more nuances too, like right now in Korea when she flaps her arms as she exits the stage after bows). Maybe that can be her EX piece for ths upcoming season, that costume deserves to be kept in the spotlight.

Alina posted an instastory pic right now having major fun with Iriska.

And it’s already screencapped for posterity right here https://instagram.com/p/Bh9bl1CAap2/

Great to wake to this photo!

Maybe Alina is reading this FF!

Speaking about Iriska...she looks sooo happy now (just joking ), that Alina is home:

This cat is one of a kind, that's for sure

sorry lusk, just saw that you posted that already

Maybe this IS her happy look!

I'd vote for Iriska and Masaru to have a joint Instagram account.

Yes Yes Yes!

I like your thinking :agree: It is a very special program.

It was also so complex and difficult and it took Alina most of the season to realize its potential, but what a reward for all involved. For me it may well be my favorite ladies short program of all time - and that's going back a lot of years.

Thanks for the response! Yes, customs/duties is a bit of a hassle. For postcards, would it be her school? The Russian FS organization?

I’d go with their figure skating club/school, better chances of her getting it since she is always going by there and they probably just keep things and hand them to her.

Yes she definitely grew into (and with) the program and that allowed her to add nuances to it after she felt confident with the technical content.

She is pretty resourceful and is becoming a better performer by the minute.

Iriska and Masaru meeting will be a sight for the ages. I hope she posts some pictures of them together. Iriska, from the few videos we've seen, looks like a really quiet and calm cat, that patience will be tested with a puppy.

And I'm so looking forward to news from the test skates. Hope we get plenty.
Ive always wondered is her tiny apartment big enough for a big Masaru dog? Akita dogs grow big

That’s true, Akitas are not small dogs, but it really depends on her (and her grandma’s) level of comfort. I’ve had neighbors in NYC, living in a studio (no separate rooms apart from kitchen and bathroom) living with Great Danes and Golden Retrievers.

Even Giant Poodles are not uncommon in NY, and in the types of buildings I’m talking about 1 bedroom apartments are very rare, but large dogs are very common. Like I said, level of comfort, it can be hell and it can be heaven.

Either way she’ll have her very own, and very cool, Noah’s Ark going. She seems like the ultimate animal lover and quite up to the task, lets hope her grandma is right up there with her (she obviously agreed to bring Iriska over and gifted Alina her pet chinchillas, so she may well be an animal lover herself).

Dogs and chincillas do get along hopefully [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
