Alina Zagitova

You are ..you are .. our Fairy
Thank you !!!
Finally, I see that Alina was better and better ,from one performance to another.
The Olympics became the peak :clapper:

Double perfection. Thank you, lusk8 :thumbsup: This video is like medicine for my soul; when I'll have a bad day I'll just watch it and boost my mood instantly :yahoo:

I watched quite a lot of livecast for Alina. Any idea when and where is her next livecast?

You are more than welcome!! It is a pleasure to make these side by sides.

Alina really progressed during this season and you can see how each performance is special and how much she evolved (her consistency too).

This makes me even more excited for the future, for her new programs and for more jaw dropping awesome performances.

About the livecasts: not really sure, she did one right before Korea using Instagram so maybe she'll do some more in the future.

I was just scrolling on youtube and found this video:

I am sure it was already posted before the OG..but I thought I should post it anyway for those (like me) who are newer on the forum. Also I've seen that in the last photo they guessed the rankings, with our dearest Alina earning the well-deserved gold medal :yahoo:

Thank you for this awesome video. I had not seen it before!!

And that last shot was so beautiful, all the slow motions too.

:agree:

Ok Guys, like Tara says "fasten your seat belts Alina Zagitova is about to start".

Here is the side by side comparison of two Dom Quixote programs: Europeans (left side) vs Olympics Team Event (right side), audio is from the Olympics because that is just awesome. There are slight variations on the programs and the one from Europeans runs about 0.00.05 sec earlier, but fixing that mismatched other things so I decided to leave it.

Google drive link, you can play it right there on the link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WTrR4EkpaMi-TO5_kre5ywfdBlsmZQ33 (as I post this, video is still being processed by Google Drive but link should work in a bit)

As usual, enjoy!!! EdRoz, thank you for the incentive, and Lesnar001, thank you for the incentive and for choosing the Europeans as comparison, that worked out really well.
Thank you again for another great video.
I had initially thought that Europeans was her best performance, but now I think it was the Team Event.
The only problem in the Team Event was that she had to hurry a little to reach her ending pose - but she still did it on time with the music!
I 'm not sure - but she may have started her illusion spins a little later than usual and had to play "catch up" - but she still did all her spins and obviously completed the required revolutions (since she got level 4).
In the video that someone posted a few days ago of her 2017 Junior Worlds LP, Kurt Browning even commented how difficult it was to go from her combination spin right into the ending pose.
Choreographed to within an inch of her life indeed:clap:

You are more than welcome, I had so much fun.

I really thought she excelled at that Olympic Team Event DQ, to me it became the gold standard, maybe Tara and Johnny's excitement sold me that performance even more, and if you consider this is her Olympic debut...double wow. Her final DQ at Olympics was awesome because it got her the win and she as able to change the position of that first combo like it was sooo easy (when it truly is the hardest thing), but the Team one was like picture perfect.

As I was trying to sync the start of the videos to perfection the rest of the program kept getting more out of sync, so I thought that maybe her step sequence had a few different elements (or spins, or timings), it looked "harder" at that team event somehow (even as she did it perfectly), more things seemed to be going on. But still it is amazing how much she hits the major music beats even with a few differences in between, that is knowing what your doing right there.

I have to watch that Kurt Browning video again, his comments are so great too.

You really need to be special to be able to pull out a choreography like that, Eteri and Daniil worked with her to really showcase all of her mastery.

I remember that I was so nervous for her before the Team Event - I was kinda hoping that Evgenia would skate both the SP and LP - I wanted Alina to have more time to practice and get acclimated to the Olympics before performing - what a dope I was!
I tend to watch the program as a whole so I need to go keep going back to look for specifics - Kurt Browning was right - she basically goes from her Sasha Cohen type spin right to the ending pose and that looks like it must be very difficult!

Guys, the competitive season ended a month ago and I still find myself almost every day watching either Alina's SP or LP, mostly from the Olympics but the other performances also have this hypnotizing effect on me... Every time I start watching them, I feel like I am watching for the first time and although I know what's coming next, I still feel surprised by the complex and rich step sequences and the dramatic (Black Swan) and joyful (DQ) jumping and spinning parts. And I can't get enough, they just look so satisfying with the music accents and her grace and air and spin positions. I absolutely love these emblematic programs.

I even found an article in Russian that was posted here last year with a translation of Alina's answer to the question what her new SP will be like - The source is http://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/302...a-ldu-babushka-podruzhilas-s-kompyuterom.html
And her explanation is: "The story is about how an innocent white Swan was born, which is faced with the cruelty and reality of our world, and gradually turns into what it is necessary for him to be in this world to achieve the result and the knowledge of perfection."

And with time, I got used to her short program and can feel this transformation, I think it fits her personal story and development in the world of figure skating perfectly. Oh and not to mention how I get goosebumps from the moment she does the Charlotte spiral until the big finale. Russians just know how to perform to big music.

By the way, a small observation about Alina's start and end of the season - her first competition was the Lombardia Trophy, she won it and had a good time with Daniil in Milan after her first senior win https://www.instagram.com/p/BZHV4P4lbGR/?taken-by=d_gleikh (People even ship them in the comment section below, lol :D)
And then she goes back to Milan a few months later as the reigning Olympic champion and has her only defeat for the whole season. Isn't it interesting how different and important both events for her carrier are and both of them in Italy? I wish she goes back there for the third time and wins SP and LP! And I wish to be there to witness it :D

And last but not least - it's a great idea to make a channel with the best videos of Alina! I love the head video of Alina doing the combo for the bank commercial but taken from this particular angle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=aKE12fiDcnA Maybe they should have used this footage for the actual commercial but the original is also very impressive.

I feel ya. I do the same. As a junior she left me cold, I fell in love with her at Lombardia and Japan Open. She is such a showman and so elegant. Plus the technical ability. I just love her so much.

I was on the edge of my seat too. Thinking of all the pressure and how she didn’t even have a full senior season under her belt.

My nails were bitten until she made her first move, we she started out so calm, gracious and in control I was amazed.

That’s our Alina!!

Wow, goosebumps, even better than a movie trailer! Even though I know the results and who has won, I felt like they really are getting ready for war.
Someone HAS to do such a video about the Russian Nationals and Worlds 2019 and 2020! And include all the crazy practice videos of the junior ladies...

By the way, I love the montage of this video and how you can see Alina's reaction after the ending pose of each Black Swan performance - when she didn't do so well or was shaky, she seemed rather worried, and her Olympic reaction was pure gold - she KNEW she was perfect and she was even laughing <3

Thank BossT for this great montage. And thank Alina for being so magnificent

Thanks all for the links and videos!

What’s everyone’s best guess for how many times Alina has skated each program this season inc training, run throughs, competitions, shows etc?
