Alina Zagitova

Its the way she convey it have you read her tweets saying that alina was killing time in the beginning of her program is just classless to think that she is a skater herself,is alina's step seq.choreo & spins in the first part of the program kills time? She have all the right in the world to say whatever she wants but at least show some respect, Alina could have injured herself for this program because its physically demanding with all the jumps on the second half, and then here is ashley seating on the bench not skating on the olympics have the guts to comments on skaters who is not even on her level. She should start trying to do alinas's program even in practice so we can see how she gonna do it.

I am really do not care about Ashley words, better to see what kind of holywar the some Russians fans ,
former figure skaters and celebritys have arrange against Alinenok OGM , that was embarrassing, it hurt me more than Ashleys words

Her quote on competition was quite great:

“Q: In our interview with her there was one moment when I realized that the topic of rivalry with Alina Zagitova is uncomfortable for her.

Eteri– I do not like it when someone starts to push skaters against each other. I teach them to respect their competitors. If someone has grown to the level of your competitor, then he has worked no less than you. And you should never give your opponent an estimate. Once I even forbade Zhenya to comment on the competitions on television. An acting sportswoman should not give an assessment to her rivals.”

This (and the rest of course) shows why I admire Eteri so much

Oh dear, that is horrible. I hope Alina does not read/hear them all. It must be so hurtful. One of the times I do not wish to ask for translations.

I realize that there is always a segment in these documentaries (in Ice&Fame and this new one) where Alina is getting yelled at. :roll9: Or does Eteri just yell at everyone, lol?

I can't help imaging Eteri yelling at everybody at the rink, including mate coaches, then taking a mirror off her pocket and yelling to it: "Eteri Georgevna, you are a monster!".

If Zagitova was American and won the Olympic gold Ashley Wagner wouldn't have said a damn thing. Alina had the perfect retort for Ashley which was something like if my program is so easy tnen you do it. Lol!

I've been very up-and-down over the years with Ashley Wagner She's a tough competitor and a bit of a controversial character. I think she's a very pretty girl who's very bitter that others have passed her by especially teenage Russian girls. It was like she morphed into loudmouth journalist Christine Brennan with her Twitter comments towards Alina.

I think I spotted a small rolls-eye from Alina in the video, after Eteri yelled at her and turned her back?

I dont recall that. But Alina is only human. Im sure Eteri knows she annoys her students from time to time.

Ug, I’m embarrassed by Ashley Wagner as an American. She portrays all the worst American stereotypes. Entitled, crass, loud, self-absorbed, and a whiner.

I don’t understand why people would be upset at someone who maximizes chances at winning, even if it goes against tradition. I mean people thought Dick Fosbury was ridiculous at first, but his strategy allowed him to win gold at the olympics and changed the norm for his event.

Its just annoying that everyone was picking on Alina because of her backloaded program as if she was standing around the rink and waiting for the last 2mins.before she jumps. They didn't even care how hard it was for Alina to finish that program which was only given to her by Eteri. I think this is related with her series of victory. If she's not winning with that program no one is going to care at all. Can you imagine winning everthing in your senior debut with that same program back in your junior days was pretty remarkable.

Its been awhile since Im here. Im glad that our red ballerina is getting popular and getting the recognition she deserves.

1st highlight - this is a big reason why I think Evgenia & Alina have been so successful - a lot of work but these complete run-throughs must really make them comfortable with their programs come competition time. I remember hearing somewhere that they also train to add triples onto the solo jumps in their programs so they are able to add them on at any point. For example - Alina's long program at the Olympics and Evgenia's long program at Europeans.

2nd highlight - if only a certain skater who didn't make her Olympic team and instead competed as a "twitter warrior" had gotten this advice.

I agree with you, training regime and what they do at training is a huge part of Alina's success and it gave her the ability to add things to the program on the fly if it does not go according to plan. She gets to know those programs like the back of her hand, and she has proven time and again that she can think fast on her feet.

To the twitter warrior, that was a sad, sad, sad event. She is someone Alina even follows on instagram (along with a bunch of skaters to be sure, but she is someone she singled out to look up to), so seeing that kind of reproachable behavior from her was a sad moment all around. She just proved that keeping your mouth shut can be the clever idea.

Ashley and Lucindah Ruh are 2 opinionted women. They speak their mind.

They obviously know those cameras are there so if they do it, it could be because they want to show a tough and serious approach (where nothing just slides by). Or maybe that's like the "per usual" approach and they don't want to sugar coat things for the camera. My money would be on a bit of a mix of the two.
