I find this whole situation so hilarious. I had the impression since Sochi that russian media and especially people related to figure skating here such as coaches kind of had being avoiding mentioning Yuna's name. But now they suddenly remembered about the existence of "Great Yuna Kim" ke-ke-ke

exactly, since Sochi, the ISU wronged Yuna for obvious political reasons thus the shame and guilt to even avoiding mentioning Yuna.
but How can you deny a gift from figure skating God.

Team BOrcer has tried what they do with Yuna on their female skaters (to some extend, male skater too), I could not say it is a complete failture.
I do see improvement in her female skaters as well, e.g. Elizabet's SS. just a small example.

Just you can not make a Yuna Kim, it is truly a gift, really not BOrser's fault..

I am still mad at ISU for the 30% reduced GOEs, plus more lenient rule to allow judges use their 'initiative' to decide to how to reward GOEs instead actually faithfully follow the bullet points. Now they put it up even higher than Vancouver level AFTER confirm she retire as I suspect they would.

I remember point that out at the time it was done likely because of they want to depreciate her scoring to reduce the gap to others especially when you add that to the scale value changes, 3A in SP, only allow 2 x 2A in the FS program changes, depreciate quality etc.. It all points to one thing. (I was short sighted and blamed on Japan Fed, lol... but little do i know it was done more for Russia's benefit for Sochi)

Added Edit: I worked out they are actually increasing GOEs by 67% LOL.... did I work out my math wrong? 2.1 increase to 3.5 max? How ridiculous!!!

I mean I have my theories as to why that would happen, especially considering Lakernik (*caugh caugh*) was one of the main driving forces behind these interesting new changes.

Aahhh in preparation for ATS I just can't get enough of Yuna's old EX photos! No one else quite brings the grace and elegance and sheer magic as this girl on the ice.

If they intend to produce exactly like Yuna, I think they are bound to fail. Since the two things that make Yuna, Yuna, are her musicality and jumps--two things that neither came from Orser nor Wilson. If they want to produce a female skater that have the same career as Yuna, IMO what they needed to teach more than ever is her work ethic. The situation is so hilarious though, and more so if Evgenia suddenly voiced out her admiration to Yuna I think Koola King will have a field day on that one!

Anyways, according to this tweet, ATS will be broadcast on SBS on the 22nd. So if anyone is going to stream this please let us know! :luv17:

I don't follow Evgenia's career so I'm not sure about what she said or did. That comment was more of jab to those who keep pitting these two against each other (including some Yuna fans) and how they have to rethread their point of view now, both on Yuna and Evgenia. So hopefully, y'know, no more fan wars. And no more comparisons. (Although that one would be almost impossible not to happen, but oh well. )

And I really doubt Med wants or needs comparison to Yuna, or that she chose Meditation of Thais because of Yuna. I'd like to credit that to individual choice.

How do you make GIFs? I use giphy, but these are clearly done differently. Some editing software?

I use photoshop - you usually get the video/record it, then import it as layers, then convert to frames and you can then adjust for lighting/brightness/size etc.

Yes, I typically brighten the images, slow it down, I can adjust the colors/contrast etc. You can also add effects if you're better. I'm honestly still pretty new to it, but in terms of just basic giffing and making it look decent, I'm pretty fast by now. These are really beautiful! I think know where some of the gifs came from; I remember following them on tumblr. They always make great Yuna edits especially with movie-style banners for her programs. Those were so cool.

Thanks for sharing this, cooper! I think among fans this is really no surprised. The pressure would be even more profound and crushing for her, having to skate in front of her home country. So, so happy for her that she finally feels light hearted to skate again, without needing to face the pressure she'd been shouldering her entire career. Her skate to House of Woodcock may also be now read differently, as in fresh start, and may not be the last time to see her on ice again.
