2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

i'm most pleased about this situation, because it turned out that my girl sasha is a new favorite child of mama eteri.
how wonderful to see them on a press conferences, and now they even went on vacation together.
no one of you believed im my baby. i was the only crazy fan of sasha 2 years ago, everyone else were saying that this girl is useless, shcherbakova is so much better, she has artistry, she has real quads etc.
and look at sasha now. she is a little queen of figure skating world under the wing of mama eteri herself, her most precious treasure. hopefully she gets the best programs this season:love:

No one in this forum said that sasha is useless thats awful. Im a fan of sasha too but i dont think eteri has a favorite right now she already learned her lesson😂dont invest too much emotion into someone.

panova is not from sambo. she is from "snow leopards" club in a freaking city of reutov
Yep, confused the name, meant Tsareva obv. I just wonder, when there is some voting, opinion exchange between feds, Sambo and CSKA regarding specific skater or coach, if the other coaches from that school back them up.

Why "freaking"?

Very difficult to say. It is not known in what form it will enter the new season, how will puberty. She is unlikely to complicate the program, as it will require stability to obtain quotas for the team. I think the technique Trusova, Kostornaya, Shcherbakova will be stronger than her, but really they can only meet in the championship of Russia (senior), which allow the age of 14.

I agree with you. Alina's position in the senior circuit is obviously very safe this season, but surely she is aware that an amazing crop of juniors is coming very soon (unless the age rules change dramatically). She sees the amazing things they can do all the time, day after day. Meanwhile, she is under pressure to win and be consistent, so as you say, she's unlikely to be allowed to take risks and complicate her program. To me, it seems like a tough spot - and very similar to what Zhenya went through.

Everything is pure speculation. Nobody knows for sure how the Zhenya-Eteri relationship really was behind closed doors.

But I think we should always remember, Eteri is a state coach and the state does not care which name brings the gold back home.

what does it mean "a state coach"?

wait then why do her students qualify as Moscow?? why are they then taking spots from skaters who DO train in Moscow?

it's a town in a moscow oblast, moscow competitions is not only for the city of moscow, everyone from the moscow region could participate

Someone who receives his salary from the state.

every coach in russia does that. so you basically accusing eteri that she doesn't care about her students, because she recieves salary? or everyone in russia doesn't care? foreigners certanly have some strange views on a russian figure skating

No, my point is Eteri had no favourite. The most important thing was to win the Gold medal for the state. (I do not blame her for that)

Oh wow I didn't know that! so how close to Moscow is Reutov?
To give you a better understanding, Reutov is a part of Moscow metro area, you can't tell by eye where Moscow (Novokosino district) ends and Reutov begins, all looks same. One drives along Nosovikhinskoye motorway and can hardly tell which side of it is Moscow and which is Reutov.

believe it or not, but she is a normal human being, and certainly has favorites. this narrative "all athletes in russia and china are just cannon fodder for the state" that gets promoted in the west, is far from reality.

so anyone who lives in Moscow could work/train in Reutov or vice versa?

if they don't mind to spend 4-5 hours on a metro every day. but as i posted before in a deleted post (all of my posts constantly got reports from my goldenskate fanclub:laugh:) the majority of panova girls are locals. it's quite remarkable how much talent she found in a town with 80k inhabitants

Believe it or not but the gold medal(it is her job to win the gold for the state) are certainly more important than personal relationship. There was a lot of price money at stake after zhenya´s injury. Without the medals, how much money does she earn per month? Not that much, i believe.

I would not say cannon fodder. But i think under a private coach, the likelihood that zhenya would start in Japan(NHK) would be much lower.

According to your logic, Eteri sharing private conversations with Medvedeva was also "potentially relevant information to provide context" and appropriate, i guess.

So far, even without Zhulin, we all know that Eteri preferred Medvedeva. I mean, look at all the pre-Olympic discussions where everybody was mad at how she is cold towards Alina and all cuddly with Zhenya.
Would make all sense that she wanted Zhenya to win.
Despite all this, Eteri gave both girls equal opportunities. She did not held Alina back. She did not simplify Alina's programs (even though she had the excuse of previous poor performances to simplify the SP, for example). We did not see her do a single thing that would reduce Alina's chances to win gold. If that is not fairness and equal opportunities, I don't know.

Good points. And thanks to Eteri for not holding Alina back. Anything less than gold and silver for Eteris girls would have been a disaster. Her allowing Alina to have the most difficult program pretty much ensured gold and silver for Eteri. I mean her girls

But I mean the other fs coaches from Sambo, like Tsareva for instance. I wonder, if they stick together.

I can easily see they having their own agendas also.
I mean, no info on this specific case, but for example imagine you have a club. It has one rink and two coaches. They got to share ice time and everything. I can see how they wouldn't stick together quite easily, and there are even cases of a coach doing politiking to get the other coach out of the shared rink.

Well, what i know so far is:

- Buyanova does not like Eteri. Because all the successful students, and there have been rumors that Diana's father is actually Buyanova's husband. Even if not true, i see why she would be annoyed.
- TAT doesnt like Eteri. There are speculations that the recent events happened partially because of TAT's influence.
- Averbukh minds his business, i think, overall he seems to open his month only when he is mentioned.
- Vaitsehovskaya has a feud with Eteri going on since 2016 or so. She used to bash Medvedeva too, but at some point started to paint Medvedeva as Eteri's victim.
- Mishin and Plushenko seem to have their own agenda. Also, rumors are that Plushy is not the brightest one outside figure skating and not so good in this game of thrones.

It reminded me weird stories written by anonymous skater on eurosport.
As she says 20% of prize money go to the Fed and 30% to the coach.
