2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Possible layout for quad queen next season...

4Lz
4T
4S
3A
---
3Lz-3Lo
3F-1Lo-3F
3Lz-3T

I mean... that just LOOKS scary. but if the 4Lz is stabilized....

Her axel needs to be fixed before she can do a good 3A. 4Lz needs more work too.

The person who PMed me about the layout needs to clear their inbox.

Uh, what do you mean her axel needs to be fixed? What fixing is there to be done? It's massive and the force is directed properly.

Actually, I kinda selfishly wish they would pass the 17 rule, then I would have only 3 skaters to watch seniors for.
Well, technically they can send 2 of those 3 back to juniors with the new age cap, and then i could literally just watch juniors =D

I hear ye.

If they would only go a few years further and raise the age to 20 I would no longer have to bother with the Seniors.

RusFed will not support raising the minimum age of tournament participants.

For non russian speakers.

Rusfed says no, and presents following arguments:
- The proposal is very "raw", made in a hurry.
- They do not understand where the number 17 comes from. They contacted a few other sports with age limits, such as gymnastics (the athlete must turn 16 in the year of competition, so technically you can compete at 15 too), and synchro swimming (the limit is also 15 years).
- rusfed would consider discussing 16 years, but they still would want such suggestion well studied and discussed first.

That sounds reasonable to me.

It has been expected, will protect the alliance which is only gives the standing medals for RusFed.
Tutberidze - "I work on jumps on to a before pubertal body."
Lakernik - "I give PCS, I agree with judges."
RusFed - "I protect all this buffoonery."

Or it will actually protect the athletes. You know, there are many 15, 14, 13 years old in Russia who have more artistry than about 90% of the senior ladies at the first 4 warm ups at worlds. It makes all sense that Rusfed would protect those kids, and do their best to ensure they have the best opportunities.
Heck, there are some kids at the Ice Age show that at 10 have more artistry than some seniors we all know.

That's why it's such a baaaad argument. It depends on the person! Some just are natural performers, they have it right from the beginning. For the others, yes, it takes some time. But that doesn't mean the naturals have to suffer the consequences!

yes I agree - some are natural performers and show innate artistry from a very young age. Some don't develop great artistry even as they get older - it's all quite individual!

It makes sense that they wouldn't support it, of course, and I agree that there needs to be a solid explanation for whatever age limit is proposed. I'm not against raising the minimum age per se, but there needs to be a criterion that makes sense and that has some sort of 'scientific' foundation.

Also, I agree that performance ability is 99% innate, but I do think it can only improve with age.

Just rewatched Alina's Olympic SP. It was brilliant! At this point Medvedeva vs. Zagitova seems to be the biggest rivalry of the coming season, sorry fans of other skaters.

And the Russian ladies thread now is the overwhelming leader on the edge section. I feel proud as it is sort of my baby.

The ladies threads:
Russian: 138
Japanese: 31
US: 24
Canadian: nowhere to be seen

I really wish that russian ladies beat everybody else by such large margins =)

Surely it's at least more fun if the rest of the world give them a run for their money before they're victorious :p

But yeah between the enormous talent in the junior, senior-eligible and senior ranks plus Medvedeva's split with Etieri plus the age minimums discussion, you folks have blown us all away. But since the rest of us have all been commenting on this thread too because it's been so exciting, clearly no one can resist ^_^
