2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

... we have GP assignments to discuss...
Zhenya faces tough fields
Alina faces competition but all skaters she can easily beat
Dasha has really tough competition but I hope she can turn heads
Radionova, Konstantinova, Samodurova, and Tuktamysheva need to prove themselves
Maria and Polina need to show that they are awesome and strong because they both have moments of brilliance and moments of not so much brilliance

Last time Evgenia lost to any of her components in this two GPs, was when she was junior by Liza so I don't see how exactly she will not win SC and IDF.

For Alina, it will be a little difficult because she was almost beaten by Wakaba so may happen again.

I love the fact that yesterday Alina's FP was officially announced, and yet this thread was all about Zhenya

Well done, guys! :agree:

It's Medvedeva's fault! She's stealing all the show! :laugh::laugh:

Returning to the topic - as I already mentioned, I hate Carmen and can't stand it even for 2-4 min. That said I do expect Daniil to make a pretty decent choreo and Alina should be capable to pull it out. She does well with "big" music because it covers her artistic insecurities.

Guys, in search of the data on when Rostelecom tickets go into sale I happened to read a couple of threads on sports.ru including the one on GP assignments. Please,do not bring this nightmare here - it's beyond good and evil. Sorry for the offtopic.

No, i'm just ironically say that obviously frallik it's "famous" Denis Travin, from sports.ru. I completely agree with the fact that Denis should be locked in a closet so that we are not ashamed before the guests  (Although you can see that here he is relatively civilized - maybe a little shy in front of foreigners :))

You are free to contribute to this thread by saying your opinion about Alina's programs? So what do you think? Do you like the choices?

I dont really pick sides, but i get annoyed when Medvedeva ubers come here and call me names because I dare to not cheer for Zhenya..

In the post before this, you called Medvedeva arrogant, shallow and a hypocrite. I find it quite harsh, but okay, that's your opinion. Just don't pretend you don't 'pick sides' after saying something like that.

I don't see the interest in calling these skaters negative things anyway, so something positive to finish with. I'm glad Sofia got a chance at the GP. If she does well, I think the host pick will be hers and she might even make it to GPF!

I'm glad too but I don't think she can make it to GPF. She doesn't have neither the PCS and most likely neither the GOEs since her jumps are small. It will be very difficult for her.

Im just glad she’s got new programs. Two years of Don Quixote was a bit much considering how many times I’ve seen her perform it going back to the junior days. That’s not to mention the amount of times I’ve heard it at the rinks I frequent over the years. It’s a very popular piece of music for the really young skaters in my area. Every year there is at least one DQ.

Yeah Carmen is probably overused too but I’m curious which arrangements they’ll choose and I must admit I’ve always sort of had a soft spot for carmen although it’s a bit of an ear worm. I’m just excited to see a new side to her skating. Loved her swan this year!! It will be interesting to see what they come up with but I have no doubt it will spark lots of conversation and Alina will bring a good performance.

Anyone know what music Gubanova has chosen? We’ve seen that Peter Tchernychev is doing the SP and Tat helped with the FS but do we know what music or style they’ve chosen. My gut says they’ll give her something classical and boringish but she’ll turn it into something really great. With all the coaching changes I wonder if she’ll change much up or if they’ll keep a similar style the first year or two. Working with the mouthpiece of Russian Nationals on your program can bring very positive attention to you. I’m looking at you Kovtun ;)

I wonder who will prevail among Buyanova's students? Masha, Polina or Radionova?

I'm also very curious to know what will happen with Liza... the new system should benefit her greatly if she can have consistency\strong TES. Although I don't see much hope with her if she doesn't improve her PCS also

Nah, I'm a Zhenya fan so I'm quite happy to keep it Zhenya-centric

I'm just amazed that some users in this thread spend so much time writing passionately about someone they dislike (Zhenya) rather than focusing on someone they like (Alina), especially when there's new content from Alina to discuss! It baffles and amuses me in equal measure

As for my personal opinion regarding Alina's FP, I personally don't like warhorses. I really hope Zhenya doesn't go through this route this season.

Wasn’t Alina beaten by Wakaba at worlds?

We in Siberia saw a Hollywood blockbuster on this topic. Perhaps this kind of behavior has become so common in NA that you make films? There is a freedom of speech in Russia. Everyone has the right to express his/her views freely and without censorship - http://i001.radikal.ru/1107/5e/7a9de2d2db11.gif

By the way, in Russia we are against the expansion of consciousness with drugs. Some ISU NA officials are upset by the fall of public interest in figure skating. Do they really need FS? They can slap 5 revolutions jumps 24 hours seven days a week.

I wonder how it must be... living in such a desilusional world like you do. If I was lowering to your standards, I‘d say you people in Siberia are morons because you‘re separated from the real world and don‘t realise that things like those you mentioned obviously do not happen very often in the „westerners“ world and were in fact, a very huge scandal. But I‘m not going to do that, because it’s simply not true and I know people who come from Siberia who don‘t hate everything that has to do with the „westerners“ and are friendly and clever people. But well, about you? It‘s definitely true. Discussing with you is kinda like discussing with a toddler because you never see the point, bring up arguments that are borderline ridiculous and completely miss the point and act like Rumpelstilzchen who stomps around in a circle, declaring to everyone: „Westerners are evil! America is evil! Canada is evil! Did you hear that?! They frequently slap each other with their skates on the head and make movies about it! They‘re barbaric!“

Yeah. At least other users here have sense and can discuss with rationality instead of senseless hate. You, apparently, can‘t. At all.

What if I told you Evgenia mom's relationship with Eteri went south when Tutberidze declared Alina for seniors in Olympic season? :rolleye:

I‘d say: „Okay.“ followed by the question: „Any proof or again just assumptions?“

I have read your post, and also your previous posts. We all know that, if it was not for Zhenya, you would not bother.
You called me a hater several times so far.

The topic pops up because people are bothered by it and want to discuss it. The topic pops up because more and more ugly details show up. For example, the part about the congrats on your olympic champion is news to me.

And that‘s why you apparently haven‘t read my posts. That‘s a thing I really don‘t like about you: You always seem to think Evgenia fans only care about her and nobody else. I and we can - in fact - like multiple skaters. And if something bad about Alina, Polina or any other skater popped up, I‘d defend them as well. The thing is, at the moment it‘s only Zhenya‘s personality we‘re discussing, only her interviews and how shallow and arrogant they are.

And about the hater thing... I don‘t really like the word but well, if you talk about a person like you talk about Medvedeva (shallow, arrogant etc.) wouldn‘t you say you at least strongly dislike this person, if not outright hate her? You said it yourself that you do not have any respect left for her and excuse me but that does show in your posts. I try not to call you a hater because you‘re one of those who are far, far less worse than some others in this forum. But well, you dislike Evgenia, you don‘t respect her and that‘s a fact. So why always talk about this accusation: „You called me a hater!!“ when it does have no point whatsoever?

If it was common, they wouldn’t make films about it. The whole point was that it was sensational and shocked the country. I was like 8 when it happened and never watched news or sports at that age and still remember everyone talking about it.

And in Russia they may be against expanding consciousness with drugs, but how about expanding body/athletic ability? I kid, I kid. Just thought if you were putting down NA then you could handle some teasing.

I‘d say Masha is the one I bet on. Even though I strongly hope that things are going to change from last season. Polina is a huge favourite of mine and if she manages to regain her consistency on her excellent jumps and finally gets some good programs... well, I‘m rooting for her. I don‘t think Lena will overtake Masha or Polina. She has problems with her jumps and scratchy landings and if Masha and Polina manage to pull themselves together, it will be difficult. So I think, she‘s at least going to be #2 in Buyanova‘s team, if not #3. But I hope she manages to medal at her GP events. Overall, I‘d say the battle is between Polina and Maria with Lena fighting mainly herself and the opponents in her GP assignments.

The new changes should be in Liza‘s favour. Very much so, in fact. She will benefit from not only one change but a few actually. She likes to have her jumps at the start (especially 3A) and now it‘s no disadvantages anymore because of the backloading bonus. She also has huge jumps if she lands them, with true textbook technique so she should be able to get really good GOE‘s on them. However, her artistry has never been the best and unfortunately, her coach doesn‘t seem to put a lot of attention here. But overall, that‘s something to worry about later. Right now, she‘s focusing on the right thing: Getting those gorgeous jumps and especially the 3A consistent so that she does stand a chance at her GPs.

many words... most of them "hate"

What do you mean by regain? Consistency? Because she wasn't doing doubles or something last season.

Consistency, yes. She was doing triples but popped them. Especially under extreme pressure, e.g. at Nationals. If she manages to regain the consistency she had (not the jumps, expressed this kind of wrongly) she‘ll be superb.
