2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Ok, folks...Anyone who sees a video of Evgenia's 2Lz or Scherbakova's performance on DOI - please share immediately!! :dance3:

Brian saying she doesn't have to win every competition on the way to Beijing is such a good mindset. I don't know where i saw Alina saying that but she said as soon as she comes out of the ice after a program where she's made few mistakes, Eteri would immediately tell her that she needs to work harder. The idea of making skaters believe there's no place for mistakes and only perfection is acceptable is kinda messed up. It's Eteri's way as she said in that one documentary "i teach them to hate losing to make them want to work harder" but it can mess you up psychologically especially since her girls are so young.
It's gonna be great watching Brian/Tracy with zhenya in the kiss & cry cause whether she keeps winning or doesn't perform as well as she usually does, we've already seen in the past that TCC teams knows how to uplift their skaters when they're not at their best.

It really depends on the skater - Eteri's method clearly works for most of her skaters. While Brian's method is going to be considered more 'friendly' to a skater, for the wrong skater it could make them complacent to poor performances/results.

It's also very important to keep in mind that Brian does not generally work with young, developing skaters.

He has talked about his strength being in getting the most out of senior level skaters.

Stephen Gogolev, who has been with Brian since he was a novice, is an exception.

So, Eteri's very structured program can be viewed as a successful scaffold for promising young skaters.

While Brian's approach of letting skaters develop their own ability to see what it best for them is more suited to skaters in their late adolescence and adulthood.

I think it's airing today the 7th. I follow people on twitter who usually posts video cuts of japanese ice shows or even provide live streams. we'll see it soon.

Didn't Scherbakova grow so much? I haven't even been following her as long as some other people, just since the beginning of the year but looking at the pictures from yesterday she seems to have really grown not only in height but even her face looks older. She looks gorgeous.

Lots of pictures of Medo and Anna in this link  https://twitter.com/oro1_/status/1015381204965572608

I thought it sounded off, but it took me a while to realise why: Medo is Portuguese for the noun fear. Mind you, the current president's last name also translates to fear, but to the verb in infinitive...

I do not mean to speak for MalAssada, but her flag is Brazilian. The current president of Brazil is Michel Temer. "Temer" is Spanish for fear, and I presume Portuguese.....

I restarted my browser. now I see, thanks for the links.
Zhenya is beautiful, as always. And oh my god, Anna looks so grown-up. And it seems to me that she somehow reminds young Katya Gordeev? So beautiful.

3+3 isn't obligatory in either Juniors or Seniors-- that would be a ridiculous rule, for the international field, especially Juniors. Still a 2+2 in Juniors and a 3+2 in Seniors as the minimum requirement.

I think they meant in the sense of, if you want to win medals, you better have a 3+3 in the SP.*

*Which is mostly true, unless your're a well-established top skater with such a high scoring ceiling they could get by on a 3+2, like Kaetlyn, Caro, Evgenia, Zagi, etc in the 78-80 range. But it won't be enough at big events.

And, sorry if this has been covered in the previous two pages: didn't feel like reading 30 posts before responding.

"the way Eteri yells at her for falling on a quad..." - Have you ever been to the rink where up to 20 athletes skate at the same time? Within 5 meters you don't hear each other because of the steel on the ice screams. There are various music in different sectors for separate skating groops performing their coaches' exercises. Moreover, if you waste time to come & talk to the coach it will take up 40% of your training time. Have you been at the ice rink, have not you?

I saw this picture of training in NA clubs. It is convenient when the coach gets money for the ice time not for the result.
