“Denis Ten was a great athlete and a great ambassador for his sport. A warm personality and a charming man. Such a tragedy to lose him at such a young age.” -IOC President Thomas Bach
This is a huge loss for everyone.
This world is a horrible place sometimes. RIP Denis, thank you for sharing your talent, joy, and passion for this sport with us. For never giving up, persevering through struggles, blowing us all away with your beautiful free program in Sochi, climbing up in the short program standings and winning the bronze medal. You were such a genuine ambassador for figure skating.

Just out of curiosity, how is Kazajstan about resolving crime? I mean is there a high or low rate of impunity?

Here is a good article about the rampant crime in Kazakstan....but really, this is a world wide problem. Unfortunate but the peoples of the world seem to have lost the stomach to deal with gangs and criminals...Denis could have been killed over the mirrors of his car in Spokane, London, or Chicago or Moscow....

His winner's interview after his fabulous 2015 4CC performances with his graciousness and charm towards his Korean fans. I was pleasantly surprised with his ability to express himself with his in-depth and well-thought out answers.
