2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I thinking of Daria ... Maybe she want to comeback to Eteri and that's the reason she doesn't admit that she left?

Other crazy thought ... people begin leaving Eteri after Medvedeva .. Maybe Medvedeva was some kind of "glue" in the group or some kind of suport for the other skaters .. and when she left something was broke in the group that Eteri couldn't fill

As i already said in zhenya's fan fest, i listened to yo yo ma's mumuki (the first part of her FS music) and it seems like it's gonna be a sultry beginning to fierce ending kind of program. i don't usually care for libertango (or tango in general) but since it's new for Zhenya i'm on board! i just want to see a new her :luv17:

Well, to be quite frank, I doubt Dasha is that important to Eteri. She might have only one senior skater this season but it‘s not any skater, it‘s Alina Zagitova. She will get a medal at every competition anyway, while Daria probably won‘t. And next season there‘s Shcherbakova, Kostornaya and Trusova all turning senior. So, even though it sounds harsh, I don‘t think she matters that much to her. It‘s not like Eteri is running out of skaters anyway.

Which is quite sad actually. Still all the best to Dasha whatever might have lead to this change.

Well, Worlds has shown that Alina doesn't always medal. And I think the rule changes are not to her benefit. Still, I know of course that Alina is one of te safest bets for medals in ladies seniors and Daria not so much.
But I think Eteri wouldn't have minded having another skater out there.
Next season is a completely different ballgame, and Daria will/would have probably quickly been side-lined when it comes to priority when the supergirls enter seniors.

I feel sorry for her, though. She seems to be in some kind of weird limbo at this moment. Does she even have a coach? I hope so.

Looking forward to Evgenia new programs. I think the sp music could suit her well. Not sure if she has enough maturity to pull off a decent tango though. Her Vogue ex from the past clearly didnt fit her. Though I'll be happy for her to prove me wrong.

yes. The whole world revolves around Evgenia. :rolleye: Skaters never change coaches before. And it's a first time when some skaters left.
It's really funny to read these kinds of comments.

Skaters come in and out every season. It's common.

It's possible that it contributed a little. She seemed to be friendly with a lot of the younger skaters.
The turmoil could also have had an affect on the ladies in that they might have been confused how the person who was a sort of rolemodel in the team was suddenly an enemy, or there might have been a sense of 'I'm not satisfied about X, Y or Z, and since Zhenya left, I feel more strengthened in my idea that I am right for not liking it here anymore'.

So, whatever it was, I do think it will have played a role. Until not long ago, she was the number one skater in the team, and for her to suddenly leave like that is bound to have had some kind of emotional effect.

I don't think this is the only contributing reason though. Perhaps the coaches did have little time for the non-top ladies, as it was Olympic year and Zhenya and Alina would have gotten more attention than normally, and there were quite a few new stars entering juniors.

But each of them must have had some specific personal reason that was the main point for them.

I personally think it's because it's the beginning of another quad and everyone is starting their own journey to Beijing. Now is a great time to leave, not later! not everybody has the balls to stay around quad jumping babies everyday, it can take a toll on your nerves and mental (the feeling of not being enough). Also with the junior girls and the Olympic winner around, if you're to come in 5th, 6th position in terms of priority, you might want to look somewhere else. Skaters leave their coaches all the time yes, eteri even kicks some of them out; if somehow zhenya leaving gave them confidence to leave too then good for them. I hope everybody health and success in their own path.

Sigh for the free — I don’t want another tango when that’s the rhythm dance ...
I feel you!
I like how "Yo-Yo Ma “Mumuki” sounds.
but ...... Not sure, I'm ready for one more tango when that’s the rhythm dance season.
still... I don't mind Tango for Evgenia in general.

I have mixed feelings about Evgenia’s free skate. The first part will probably be unique and original (👍🤗😄👍👍) but then the second part is that overused Libertango....😫
Well at least the short program isn’t a warhorse. And I’ll be cheering for her anyways. Go Evgenia!!!

I'm not feeling the SP at all.

LP is predictable, very Yuna-Kim-esque. I'll wait for the actual programs, but I'm kinda, what's the word, disappointed? I expected something more different.

Agree about SP, well lets see how it goes.
Now meh for Libertango, there are literally 100500 different tango musics available.

Just — why is it so hard for people to not do tango when it’s literally all we’ll hear in the SD?

So, I‘m pretty excited for Evgenia‘s music choices but I‘m also... not. I love that she chooses something she‘s never done before and it will be interesting to see how jazz and tango suits her. However, personally, I‘m not a fan of either, especially not tango. I‘ve warmed up to the jazz song and now I enjoy it so maybe she‘ll do the same with the tango for me. It‘s just... ugh. Really not my favorite kind of music.

But that‘s not her problem, is it? I‘m so excited to see how she‘s going to interpret the music. A really interesting season is lying ahead of us!

Let's guess how much PCS will Alena/Sasha/Anna get in their first competition if they are clean:laugh:
I think 30/62 for Anna(Considering this is her first international competition), 32/64 for Sasha and 33/66 for Alena

Well, Alena and Anna should be heads above Sasha in PCS but with her TES there‘s sadly no way for that to happen. I‘ll get worked up again if I talk about that too much so I‘ll just say: Sasha skates like a junior skater (albeit technically brilliant) while Alena and Anna could be sent to seniors with their maturity and artistry already. Nothing about them screams “junior!“ other than the actual height they have when off ice. This is nothing against Sasha, she still has time and we‘ve seen how Alina improved in just one season. But I do think this should be reflected in the PCS but knowing what we all do - it being a junior competition where the judges don‘t make big differences in PCS anyway and Sasha‘s quads - it won‘t be.

Well Alena already has higher PCS than Sasha in the free skating at 2017 JGPF and 2018 WJC especially the latter when Sasha successfully landed two quads and Alena didn't even have 3A, so I guess the difficulties do not necessarily reflect the PCS.
For short programs, I think Sasha and Alena both have reasons to get the higher PCS, I agree Sasha doesn't have the maturity that Alena has for now, but something in her performance really impressed me, and I think Sasha also has the artistry that we should not overlook, that's something very special and different from Alena's artistry, for me they are equally outstanding in their ages and both are very impressive performers, much more superior than the rest of the field.
