2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

The dress from her bank advertisement was very beautiful but I get a feeling that she enjoys dresses without sleeves. However, those normal dresses (without a tutu) demand tights in the boots, otherwise it looks kind of sloppy.

I also would like to see the tights in the boots.

Even though she is not tall, Alina has long legs so there is no need to "lengthen" their look.

Afterall I am optimistic. She'll improve. Step by step :)

We are all entitled to our own opinion.

But I think it's silly to judge a program we've seen literally 10 seconds of, and criticize jumps viewed through a -480p resolution.

Let's calm down and wait for the full broadcast. :)

Very slightly considering the travel direction isn't directly horizontal. Eyeroll at you focusing on that.

More significant things about that video:
1. Controlled landing at such an age
2. Rotation speed approximately the same as Trusova's during her quads

But of course you'd focus on 5-10 degree UR on a 3S by a girl who's not even 8 and a half. It's probably rotated fully before the season begins.

There is no need to be so agitated. I merely pointed out a fact: the jump is UR :)
3S< has a significantly lower BV than 3S. It is good practice to always look at the rotation (and edge with F/Lz).

Nothing wrong with a little pantomiming as long as it’s tastefully done, not overused, or used as an artistic crutch. No one owns any kind of style, it’s just that one specific skater has been viciously criticized for miming when it was always obviously a descision on the part of their coach/choreographer to do so. All in all, no big deal. Just an obseravation. ;)

I'm one of those who have expressed annoyance at Evgenia's pantomiming before and it wasn't about her simply pantomiming (i've loved pantomiming in her W.E program for example because it was fitting to the mood in my opinion) but about it being in almost every program of hers, which gave her no chance to try something different, made her skating style seem limited and kept her in a box. But i have never blamed her herself for it and always known that it was Averbukh's fault which is why i was one of the people excited about her new programs announcement because it clearly shows she's going a different route.

I simply don't understand why Alina extending her arm in a program makes some people think she's gonna become a Zhenya clone, it makes no sense.

Neither KiraraChin, who brought the pantomime up and introduced it to this thread, nor glassanimal, whom you quoted, has stated that Alina will be or is becoming a Zhenya clone. Kirara simply pointed out the miming, and glassanimal pointed out a certain level of hypocrisy concerning criticism of pantomime from Medvedeva vs pantomime from other skaters.

At any rate, I'm anxious to see Alina's complete program, and also the costume, as I assume (like many others), that Diana's old dress is just a temporary thing.

I was answering to glassanimal about the criticism of Zhenya's pantomiming, not saying she was one of those thinking Alina's SP was too similar to her style.
turning into a zhenya clone is an exaggerated term but lavenderblossom did think her skating in the preview was too much of evgenia-style and judging by the likes, she wasn't the only one. KiraraChin quoted her with "even the pantomime is there" which easily leads to thinking she agreed with her, otherwise i don't get why she'd quote that comment adding "EVEN" the pantomime is there :confused2: it makes no sense.

Is Daria gonna be ready for next season? There seem to be nothing clear about her coaching situation and it's already late july :(

Hi, I've just seen Alina's new SP today anf let me assure you that her facial expression was not too much, not like Zhenya's. I thought she told the story via body movement. I agree her jumps were not that high but the entry to 2A was just great! Lovely charlotte then BO counter!
The programme itself was too busy and like a roller coaster. I found it even comical at some point. I guess it's because of too much interference from Eteri, not Daniil's fault ;))

My early predictions for the season:

Evgenia will keep her leading position usually with 10 points margin.

Polina will become number two.

Maria and Liza will be number three and will fight for the national team.

What happens to Alina in this situation? (Not attacking you, I’m just curious to know what would happen to her in this scenario.)

And Alina is doing what... opening a pet supplies store with Masaru and retiring from figure skating?

I'll buy everything she sells :cheer:!
i think you'd have to be crazy to think it's safe to predict anything now! i mean last season gave us a good lesson about expectations. The favorite not winning the olympics and the olympic champion not medalling at Worlds  now there's a new juding system, i definitely expect a lot of surprises

Me, too. Her store would probably become so famous in Japan that she‘d earn more than she did as she won the Olympics. :cheer:

Making predictions is actually pretty funny because you witness over the course of the season how basically all of them fall apart. But to be honest, which favorite ever won the Olympics? The only I can think of from the top of my head would be Yuna in 2010.

My prediction is Alina & Zhenya making it to the podium at GP & Worlds then sharing a hug so cute and passionate it would make Eteri combust immediately :laugh2:

I will be curious if Alina manages to keep the 2A stable with that entry. I think it's the same one from her Swan SP before they changed it.

It is a very difficult entry. Even Dasha Panenkova, who managed to land the 2A with a similar entry (Arabesque spiral + counter + 2A rippon), changed to something more simple later in the season.
