2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Russian Entries for Linz, this time Kostornaya. and Gubanova have been given the nod. Interestingly Shcherbakova isn't in the list of alternates which could indicate the Fed is considering her JGP Spot at Bratislava as a certainty (Tarusina is a listed alternate)

Anastasiia GUBANOVA
Alena KOSTORNAIA

If it remains that way, it will be too much grace on the ice :).

Anastasiia GULIAKOVA - S
Alena KANYSHEVA - S
Anastasia KOSTYUK - S
Kseniia SINITSYNA - S
Anastasia TARAKANOVA - S
Anna TARUSINA - S
Alexandra TRUSOVA - S
Viktoria VASILIEVA - S

WOW! I‘m so happy right now!! I was hoping to either see Sasha, Alena or Anna but of course Alena would have been my pick. And Gubanova is also the only other Russian junior lady I really like other than the 4A (Trusova, Kostornaya, Tarakanova, Shcherbakova). Her artistry is simply stunning, hoping for her to have a good season and for Alenka and her to go 1-2. :) I‘m so hyped right now, for the sake of my mood, don‘t change these assignments, rusfed!!

If nothing unexpected is happening (which I hope not) I‘m going to be there, yes! I‘m constantly searching for news about tickets and prices because I still somehow can‘t believe that you can just show up there without paying anything at all. Does anyone have any infos about junior events  It‘s my first “real“ figure skating event I‘m going to attend after watching on TV for years, so I‘m pretty excited. And of course I’ll try to make a report. :)

That would be much appreciated, thank you :agree:

Last page of the event brochure:
entry to competitions and practices is free.

The arena has a capacity of 3 500 people so there will be plenty of room ;)

Your report will be read with much interest :)

so i just saw the assignment for JGP Linz and id say stupid move from RusFed. Putting Gubanova and Kostornaia in same event? They are both really capable winning JGP and both are already acknowledged by the judges. I know they can change it but i think its not gonna happen unless one of them is injured or skate awful at test skates.

I am particularly pissed that this practically seals off all hope for Gubanova getting the GP host pick. Ah, maybe RusFed just loves the luxury of playing RN#3 against #6.

Well, unfortunately she wasn‘t doing too well last season. 4th at her first (and therefor only) JGP isn‘t going to cut it in rusfeds eyes. I like Nastya very much because but after last season she isn‘t priority of the fed. :( But I‘m biased because I‘m so happy I get to see both Gubanova and Kostornaya, so I probably shouldn‘t say anything. And also... maybe she‘ll still get a second JGP if she gets second with a good showing and a respectable score. She still has good chances to go to the final with a silver, after all. And we don‘t even know what‘s going to happen. There‘s still the (albeit small) possibility she‘s going to beat Alena. (which i hope not, as much as I like Nastya) They‘re going to try to get as much ladies in the final as possible. And now that Panenkova has moved up, Gubanova could very well replace her. And then she‘ll get a second event to make sure it‘s (at least) 5 girls in the final again.

Trusova
Kostornaya
Tarakanova
Shcherbakova
Panenkova -> Gubanova
?? Japanese/Korean/other

That‘s what I think the final will look like.

And now watch it fall apart during the season with a final of

Guliakova
Kanysheva
Kostyuk
Sinitsyna
Vasilieva
Yelim

What would it take for this to happen? :laugh2:

Edit: Oops, my bad, I mixed it up. 4th at JNats and 6th in seniors. Hm. That‘s not too bad then. Wonder why they didn‘t let her move up.

yeah i know she did messed up her JGP last season. i hope she can get 2nd assignment and make it to final again. i think they didnt let her move up because she has low SB score and couldnt get GP by her own. She could get CoR host pick but i thnk Rusfed want to give it to Samodurova who get 1 GP so she can get 2. idk though, if she WD in JGP and didnt skate will she still eligible for GP spot? Im sure RusFed will send her to Challenger since they did it last season to girls who do JGP but already senior eligible like Konstantinova and Fedichkina. That was the way Konstantinova managed to get top 24 SB and guaranteed 1 GP spot for this season

Well, I don't like this at all. Gubanova can do much more than skate in the JGP, and if Kostornaya is even relatively clean with her 3A, Gubanova's not beating her, since both are graceful, lyrical skaters that can rack up the PCS. And... it was at the 2nd JGP last year that Gubanova skated... will we see a repeat of that? At least the Japanese ladies don't seem to be contenders, and neither does Hae In Lee (although she did beat Ye Lim Kim recently). Ting Cui is in limbo and sometimes does really well (like at Glacier Falls) and sometimes does really poorly (like at Broadmoor) but she's getting used to a new coach hopefully so the Russians should be all set to go 1-2. I just don't see Gubanova getting a second event if the RusFed stupidly insists that only gold medalists can get 2 events (even though we all know that two silvers are more than enough to make the final... :rolleye:) and what's better, one JGP or one GP? I know she couldn't control getting the Rostelecom host spot and that she might not have gotten it, but I can't see them giving it to Samodurova unless she performs really well at Skate America.

Yes, they are both there. Although I think russianfan was not too surprised to end up there
Has tjb been openly banned?
