I can't remember when I last saw or heard about tulups. Maybe in the army 10 years ago (tulups like this one are used when it's below -30 C).

When I was a student about 30 years ago fancy sheepskin coats were luxury. They had the name дубленка, something like a tanned fur coat. I had тулуп from my father which was very warm. Once in winter time I wanted to see off a girl whom I met at the disco. I told her: "Wait a minute I will go up to put on my дубленка". When I got back she said: "This is not дубленка - this is тулуп for permafrost". She even used diminutive "тулупчик" which made my misery even stronger. So as I started to earn money opening a bar at the same disco one of my first moves was to buy real дубленка. Sorry for the offtop

I wish Russia and Japan would get more spots for the Olympics/Worlds. :think: Just think about it... Beijing 2022. Russian Team of Medvedeva, Zagitova, Trusova, Shcherbakova and Kostornaya. The veterans in the team event, the others for a podium sweep in singles. Yeah... I guess we all have dreams, some sillier than others.

Even though a JGP in Russia isn‘t silly at all. I mean, Russians love figure skating and they would make a lot of money. I don‘t get why they haven‘t thought about it already... :think:

Yeah especially because there’s so much talent on the Junior Circuit right now it would be nice to see these young Russians get what they deserve (even if it is just a jr gp, it could help with confidence)

Sometimes they are worn by fishermen during winter fishing on ice (here is the third one from left https://cs8.pikabu.ru/post_img/2016/03/21/12/og_og_1458592313223288915.jpg and probably another one far behind), as well as some old men https://otvet.imgsmail.ru/download/f430ebbdbfaf1cbe9658e95e96c3f4b8_i-1743.jpg. Sheepskin coat is very warm, but very, very heavy. I had a custom-made sheepskin coat (black) when I was a schoolboy, but I barely wore it because of the weight.
