Alina Zagitova

I really disliked this program. But I hope Danil sees the horrible reviews online at fix the program by november. This is not a program that was made with careful thought and consideration to the overall flow of the program. It seems as if bits with Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V.

Depends on who is making those "horrible reviews". Alina's fans? Honestly, no. Not at all. There are many people who like it, after all. So do not speak as there was an army of all FS fans behind you. And even if it was so, I'm absolutely against that internet crowd full of many, hmm, people of interrests and tastes (=those who would hate totally anything, they even contradict their own words as I've already written), should decide about anything.

Alot of Alina fans I have seen disliked the pacing as well as structure of the program. Believe me she is my first pick to wish to win GPF and Worlds this season. But I wished Danil will give the program more space to breathe and feel the music. It looks like a program designed to rack points with steps rather than a program designed around the melody or theme of the music. Which is a shame because I thought Alina was a perfect fit for POTO

I love Alina’s new SP! I think she performed it so maturely and I believe the program gets even better as the season starts.
Does anyone know The Phanton of the Opera better than me? :) I’d love to hear what the exact story in Alina’s program is and how the original story has been used in this SP since I have never watched the movie / musical :)

Can we send Danill a DM or email, because I don't think he realizes people don't like his jam pack choreo sometimes...

Someone on youtube said that Daniil is on FB, and he answers messages.
And honestly, I've seen many Alina fans disliking the music cuts and choreography of Daniil's P.O.T.O, even non-fans feel bad for Alina because she honestly deserves better than this, they can't believe Eteri and the choreographer gave this messy sp to the reigning OGM skater.

... many fans and non-fans really like this program. so what? :sarcasm:

I read exactly the same comments the last two seasons. about Evgenia's or Alina's previous programs... always the same comments. so predictable.

The thing is these programs stand out from the rest of the field. These programs are catchy, memorable. Doesn't matter if you like it or not.

The music cuts are not that bad because of the thunder and breaking glass. Actually Eteri/Daniil are quite smart in the "music cuts department".

Messy choreography? Every element, every jump, every gesture fits the music. The connection to the music is outstanding.

I think you guys need to realize that the 6.0 era is over where good skating/good programs were defined as "Michelle Kwan". When I watch Michelle Kwan's programs I don't see anything but a theatralic face, thousands of crossovers and lots of skating on two feet. But those were "well choreographed programs". LOL

Last year it was the same with Black Swan. Pretty much people (even "fans") complained, disliked, called for change etc. at the beginning of the season. And despite that, it was the program that won the OG. You simply won't satisfy everybody. And you will never satisfy those who were whining when they realized SP will be POTO (too ordinary), then when they saw the program (too extraordinary) and I'm convinced they would do the same if any other layout would be created. Some of them maybe even honestly

But for me it is really like here:

I repeat, you will never satisfy anybody (edit: I meant everybody) and it is even harder with pretty non-traditional program. But at least some of those who compleined at the beginning got what they were interceded with ("please, Alina deserves something non-generic"). And that's what they got. and many of them arew now calling for less complicated program. And if Daniil would have designed more "traditional" program, we would hear "oh, no, she deserves so much more" (that's nearly exact quote representing many others after it was revealed that SP would be POTO :) ).

Of course anyone can like or dislike what he wants, but that doesn't mean anyone's voice should be taken into consideration. And, of course, speaking as if I would speak for everybody.

Just watched the POTO SP and I must say the black swan had much better choreo. The POTO SP choreo somehow seems jampacked and I wish Danill will change it so that the steps actually fit in with the music.

Here is an important thing to remember - this program doesn't need to 'peak' for 6 more months. They have time to tweak it and change the choreography here and there. It can get better. It will get better. Alina will get better performing it.

This was a first time performance, in spot-light, not in costume. Hopefully her team will get the costume perfect. That can make all the difference in the world. And if she wears her hair somewhat loose and partially down it will look amazing.

Think of this as a test drive. It's only going to improve. Last season it took a while for Alina to nail the Black Swan but when she did she broke records with it.

I have my own issues with Daniil's choreo. I don't think he is a bad choreographer. I think he is choreographing for maximum point value and it doesn't allow the program to breathe in certain spots because they don't want to take a chance of leaving a single point out of reach. I get that.

I'm old school. Some of the programs I love look choreographically 'empty' in comparison with Alina's and Evgenia's. I miss the moments of stillness, but I would never want Alina to miss out on a chance to medal just to create a perfect work of art. For competition purposes I get what Daniil and Eteri are doing, even if I don't love it.

And it's not Candyman! :) So there's always that to be happy about. :)

That was exactly what I was talking about with missing old school programs. I love them still, but I see how dated they look next to the programs of today. I still wish there was a place for a moment of long drawn out spiral sequence, but times have changed. Now it sometimes seems like skating against the clock. But it is what it is, and this is the world Daniil, Eteri and Alina are working with now.

I'm very excited to see how POTO progresses throughout this season. Black Swan improved exponentially throughout last season, so watch this space!

lol cause putting down another skater to prop up someone else is always nice - not to mention a legend

I am sure that Alina will get good scores as long as the jumps will be ok.
I am now very curious about how Carmen will look like.
I am totally with Finley for a romantic look for POTO, with loose and partially down hair.
Alina said that the team hasn't decided yet on the costumes. Hopefully, they will be great.

The final jump battle is Shoma vs Alina right?

Did it already happen?:scratch2:

I saw an IG comment that said "Uno won". Not sure if it was in reference to the jump battle, but it stands to reason that it was. I was hoping Alina would take it, but if Shoma broke out a quad it was already over!

Here’s to Alina hiring that tutor and answering more questions from English speaking fans.

I love hearing Russian, don’t mind at all non-native English speakers using their own native languages and getting translators at events.

But there’s no denying that she has a big international fan base, she gets many questions in English on her broadcasts, and since YouTube can’t translate videos in Russian in any manageable form it will be nice to hear her answer some of the questions she gets from international fans. Just like she did with the sushi question, that was a cute moment.

The thing that surprised me (it probably shouldn't have) is that English is the language that most of the skaters use to communicate with each other.

The choreography itself is not bad but the music cuts are horrible.

I like some of them, but others are jarring, and there are too many of them.

I hope some positive changes are made regarding this.

Maybe part of the reason she skated this SP at "The Ice" was to get some feedback.

Her lines and extensions are good but it's so hard to remember them because her choreography is so badly jam-packed that she is forced to rush through all her movements.

I don't think Danil is a good choreographer.
One of the main reasons I wish extened spiral sequences were a still a requirement is because then Daniil would HAVE to let her have extended movements!!!!
