2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

You're definitely not alone. Bradie has so much promise that I wish she'd get a real costumer to design for her Like Nancy did.

Ugh please no Vera Wang. (Though I guess her ladies' costumes were good. It's just the men's costumes that are bad).

IMO, I think she should hire Maria Butyrskaya. She always looked gorgeous and she designed her costumes herself. I'd love to see Maria again as I haven't seen her since 1999 and if she came back to the US, I would travel to be there.

EEK!!!! I love Maria Butyrskaya but her dresses were, well not her best feature. The green Madonna-ish breast-plated one? The cut-out shoulder one with polka dots lining the inside of her skirt? Her talent was skating, not apparel design.

Stoked for Bradie's 3Lz-3Lo. I'm not one of those people who complains about skaters being active on social media, but it is refreshing to see a skater surprise us with a new element without showcasing it on social media first. Very cool. Excited to see what comes of her long.

Count me in that philosophy. Besides, Bradie for me was always that skater who puts a lot of work to prove herself in competition, not to 'tease' things between them. Her solidity and positive demeanour shining through her performances were so far her signature points for me, with new stuff I hope the excitement will get higher. Good to see her upping content and challenging herself that proves itself already in competition.

She looks to be in a better place than last summer. I'm curious what will happen if she shows a program of doubles at Champs Camp though- maybe she'll be assigned monitoring sessions before Russia.

As was posted TSL said that they'd seen video of Gracie doing triples off the harness, she just is only landing 2/5 or 2/6. But considering, I think she's really progressed. And I'm sure that they will continue to monitor her, possibly have her do a challenger if they feel she is ready. But it appears that she is really working hard on her comeback.

Do we know what Mariah Bell's programs are? She has been at "The Ice" has anyone heard what she is skating to over there with it?

The Boadmoor as well as the three big summer competitions are now done. Who is going to get the final SA slot?

Will it be a Senior from last season or will it be a new Senior. Pooja and Ting have JGP assignments so I doubt they get it. Who else is left? Katie McBeth, Courtney Hicks, Amber Glenn and Hannah Harrel. Hannah has been doing well but she was a Jenior last season -my guess is she will get one of the remaining JGP assignments. Amber has not been "on" at the competition where she competed. My guess is it will go to Katie McBath.

Dupage used to report detailed Dupage Open competition results online, but they haven't done so in the past 3-4 years. It's very disappointing.

Unseen Skaters reported that Bradie scores a total of 222.63 this weekend.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Club competitions are notoriously over scored and very prone to over scoring national champs. But I think it’s a very good sign indeed.

Hanna will be on the JGP as well this season. My guess it’s between Amber and Katie. Amber was weak at a Glacier falls and terrible at Philly International. But she was strong earlier in the season. While Katie has only scored a 160 domestically. It’s a decision between someone that has potential but isn’t consistent and the one that legitimately beat her twice. Who knows? We see st champs camps who they choose.

I kinda think they should invite Amber to Champs camp, but not decide SA until she has gone to a challenger event with minimum score expectation. I would give her another chance, but this weekend was a problem to be polite.

If she does not do well, send Courtney and Angela to challenger events and pick the one who does better with a slight edge to Angela who did better at U.S. Nationals.

As for Katie... well she won here and good for her, but she won with a score of 153.67 which does not even make the top ten this summer for US Ladies. I am not sure how much she should be in the conversation. Then again if she got it... id sure as heck have a drink for her during her skate!

THat will be to late. The final TBA Selection musr be done by the end of August. Both Courtney and Angela already have a GP slot, so they won’t give them a second. Especially since neither have scored well this summer.

I wonder if Amber let the pressure get to her head at the last minute. The spot was hers so long as she did well at Skate Detroit and Philly International. But she failed at both at the last minute. It’s very disappointing. More so that all the rest of high scoring seniors all have decided to do the JGP (probably at the insistence of USFS). Starr already has a SA spot. Alysa is ineligible. That leaves Amber, Megan and Katie.

The result will be embarrassing but no more than other nations. At least they no next year has to be better than this one.

I guess we had more time last year with the later schedule.

I think would still go with Amber. Had she not competed this weekend, most of us would say "send Amber" so maybe we still should. Maybe she got her jitters out at this comp.

Amber is, sadly, notoriously inconsistent. But she has a higher score ceiling than either Katie or Megan so :confused2:.

I don't think it is impossible for USFS to give Courtney or Angela a second spot. But we'll see. I guess I'd prefer to see Amber get it, just because she's my personal favorite.

The thing is, Amber is wonderful when she’s on, but it’s not just this summer - she has been inconsistent for as long as I can remember (and she placed 10th in China last year).

As to Megan and Katie, they’ve both done really well this summer, but I guess the question is whether USFS views them as likely to be competitive internationally and wants to develop them further. If I recall, Bradie’s scores last summer were really high. Neither Katie nor Megan have shown that kind of scoring capability this summer, but Megan is several years younger than Katie so that may weigh in her favor.

By the way, I think Gracie is also a possibility for the TBD, if she’s ready - but of course, that’s an open question. Since she, Courtney, and Angela all have one spot and will be at Champs Camp already, I would think that (assuming none of Megan, Amber or Katie are selected) the easiest thing for USFS to do would be to see how they all look at Champs Camp and assign SA to one of them that way.
