2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I don’t understand. Why don’t they simply replace gubanova with sitnitsyna then? If they’re pulling gubanova out, and they planned kanysheva for stage 3 in the first place??? It’s so confusing

Since I started watching Juniors more closely back in 2013 the only thing of certainty is a constant uncertainty with who will go where. The landscape changes on a week by week basis sometimes. The situation is much more complex today and I expect much of the same. Just wait until they start choosing the JWC team :scard7:

I'm hopeful that Gubanova being pulled out of Linz means Buyanova managed to get her the Rostelecom cup spot. The worst scenario would be her being injured and unable to compete this season :sad21: i don't even want to imagine her having her programs ready and not being able to show them to us!
i loved Mao's Liebestraum so much, Nastiia would give us a fantastic liebestraum program

Golden Skaters,

Moving forward, it has been decided that ONLY Russia ladies will be discussed and/or mentioned in this thread. Please refrain from bringing up skaters from other countries. Please report any posts that do not apply - DO NOT ENGAGE.

The same will also apply to other national-based threads.

Thanks!

When do they announce the participants of the senior test skates

Is there a deadline to enter?

I hope so, too! I would prefer to see her at Rostelecom because it would be better for her to gain experience in senior but... I was looking forward to seeing her in Linz and her new programs! :( Selfish of me, I know, but what can you do? I loved Mao‘s program as well btw and in general I‘m hoping for two gorgeus programs for Anastasiia since both music choices appeal to me so much. Aaah, please let her get the host spot! Nothing against Kanysheva but... she‘s not my cup of tea. I even like Sinitsyna more than her. But I will cheer for her anyway. And for Alenka of course! :cheer:

Double post, I know but I just watched one of Kanysheva‘s programs and my god, that girl has a deep outside edge. I‘m honest, I‘ve seldomly if not never seen something like that. It‘s insane.

Hmm... hoping we'll also see Tsurskaya, Panenkova, Samodurova, Gubanova, and yes I suppose Konstantinova...

I think Tsurskaya and Gubanova (if she is moving on) will go to the test skates. Their training mates Sotskova and Radionova are going so I guess Buianova will make them go too. And of course Eteri will make Alina go. IDK about Anna Pogorilaya.

If she is not injured, i'm concerned about her jumping technique, especially the Lutz combo.

Already with Angelina Turenko it wasn't the most reliable technique, and i don't really know who is the technician at CSKA that can fix these things.

But yes Liebestraum is really a good music for her.

Things are looking good for Ksusha Sinitsyna :)

*fingers crossed*

Still no JGP spot though, she could get one of the last events, like Kostornaya last year but that also depends from the results at domestic competitions this season i guess.

Everyone on the main senior team should be there, this is kind of what the test skates are for. Occasionally some skaters do not participate in the open test skates, but everyone has to make it to the closed ones and show what they've got to the Fed. It's not optional.

In juniors, notable names: Kamila Valieva, Daria Usacheva, Maya Kromykh (first glimpse of them under Eteri), Ksenia Sinitsyna (a good showing will help her get a JGP), Alena Kanysheva, Anastasia Kostyuk, Kamila Sultanmagomedova, Ksenia Starodubtseva, Viktoria Safonova, Anfisa Ryabova, Anna Frolova, Ksenia Tsibiniova, Anna Shabotova

Interesting that there is no Kadyrova on the list. I was wondering if Eteri was planning on attempting to pull off a Kostornaya 2.0 with her but apparently not.

Also given the Moscow Open is on the 3rd-6th and both JGP2 + JGP3 are around that time (29th-1st and 5th-8th respectively) I wouldn’t be surprised if Kanysheva and Sinitsyna (assuming they each get one of those stages) end up pulling out.

Personally I’m most interested in the Ryabova/Kromykh/Valieva/Usacheva set...the competition between them has the potential to be very close (assuming they can all manage to land their jumps)

The ice dance girl in pair with Gurov has intresting name. Let it be even more confusion in Moscow figure skating.

So Kanysheva’s attending two back-to-back JGP events AND the Moscow Open that happens between them? Someone give this girl a break!
