Sasha Trusova to figure skating is like Einstein to physics: there were outstanding names before (Newton) but we are talking about revolution and the new era here. Simply phenomenal!

I kind of wonder if the leotards are more advantageous? Especially the compression leggings. I think they increase performance and recovery, although it’s probably minimal. I do admit to liking the wasn’t some of the dresses/tutus look during spins though

We're drifting a bit OT...although the Junior Ladies are ahead on the science...

What I've been told is that closed fitting stretch leggings and sleeves are helpful during training because they provide more feedback and body awareness.

So, loose fitting clothing is not only less aerodynamic, it provides muddy information to the skater.

I have to say Trusova's program is... something but i like it because it's her and it fits her, does it make sense? if anybody can pull off a weird, loud, busy program it's her! It's her style, she's a little fireball (?) If any other girl was given this program i'm sure i would have hated it. That moment when she pretends to be breaking glass and skates to the judges and glares at them is SO BADASS! she's just going to warn them "i'm gonna be landing quads and you'd better watch with your eyes wide open" :cool14:

Last year she didn't have leggins and she landed two ratified quads at Junior Worlds.

Yeah, I know but it looks bad. The whole idea of a "dress" over the black tights is kind of odd and makes Sasha look like a 10 yo. Sorry for the rant, I just pay attention to the whole packaging - choreography, costume, program and the skating itself. As I said...her FP is a different story, they made her wear such awesome colors. Also, when she spins and jumps it looks like as if all those get mixed with one another.

I totally agree with you. The program is also smart. It doesn't require the typical dance movements and commitment, which are Sasha's weak spot. Whereas it would be a crime not to admit that the mimiking/acting moment at the beginning is impressive. Also her strong concentration on the tech and fierce look during the skate are intense enough to give that drama vibe into her performance. All those difficult transitions are very cool, too.

Just stopping by to say that I think Trusova is astonishing--the most exciting skater to burst onto the skating scene since Hanyu. And not that it should matter, but I also think her costumes are wonderful.

I'm going to address Sasha in general, not the competition that is taking place: Does anyone else have problems watching her-until you know everything turned out okay? Because I am filled with fear when she takes to the ice. And I wonder how her parents deal with it. She is fierce and fearless, but it scares me to death. The other thing is, after she skates, you actually need recovery time, and it is difficult to even pay attention to the next skater.

I get much more nervous watching Shcherbakova, because sometimes one mistake leads to another and undermines the whole program.
Sasha on the other hand, doesn't seem to be affected by a mistake, today she was visibly tired. She is such a fearless girl which knows what's at stake when jumping quads.

I’ve never felt that way about her. Tiny Boss seems very confident and in control. I haven’t had a chance to watch her FS yet though but having seen her skate before I have a lot of confidence in her and her training.

Just wanna give a shoutout to Sasha's double axel that literally comes out of nowhere! It also has an explosive quality to it I wouldn't be surprised if she lands a triple axel.

I LOVE her FS costume. Super befitting of the program.

Her SP dress leaves something to be desired.

So both of Sima's programs are like taking a walk down memory lane... I like it. I like the new interpretation of music she's had before and her fresh take on it.
