2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

I have a question and hope somebody will be able to clarify things to me on the matter since I am a little bit confused.
If I understood correctly, there will be no novice and lower level skaters at US nationals this year. On the other hand, the decision was to increase the number of entries in juniors. And some summer club comps were supposed to be used as qualifying events to junior nationals. Now, that the summer is over, what is the results of this qualification? Have any junior ladies already qualified to nationals? Or, probably, I misunderstood something and the system works in a different way? Or these rules will come in force starting next season?

I don’t know exactly what they’re doing, but I don’t think anything goes into effect until next season.

It looks like Gracie’s LP music was announced on the US Skating Fan Zone site!

She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles (from the musical “Waitress”) - a very beautiful choice, I love that song. :)

Gracie Gold's LP, per this website, will be Sara Bareilles's "She Used to be Mine." I discovered the song a few years ago and it's super powerful. I hope this is 100% real because if so, it's pretty perfect (and also emotionally destructive).

I am so glad that she is skating to modern music. I don't think that the warhorses put her in the right frame of mind.

How long has the new fanzone been like this? I'm really enjoying the new website layout with the Team USA roster (bios, comp. history and all)!

I like warhorses, but I much prefer skaters performing to music they love. It would be great to see her skate with more passion than we've seen in the past.

AFAIK: The relaunch of USFS Fan Zone took place on Monday afternoon, not even ten hours ago.

My first impression has not been as favorable as yours, but I hope that all the new formatting will grow on me.

is there any website for US Classic? like for start orders/schedule etc?

I suggest staying tuned to Fan Zone -- for example, to the page of competition listings, where I assume  that "Competition Central" and "Results" links for U.S. Classic soon will be added to the right-hand column. I think/hope that the links also will be added to the home page and to the calendar page.

In years past, U.S. Classic start orders and live results have been posted via this type of link (the example is from 2017):

does anyone know how long ago the skater bio photos on USFS fan zone were taken? I'm wondering if the picture of Gracie is recent or a couple years old.

I can't swear by it, but I thought all of them looked like recent pictures. I was looking through the bios with pictures which include Alysa Liu, Pooja, and Ting.

Good luck to Akari, Brynne, and Courtney in SLC. :yay:

I do not think that one consistent answer applies across the board, so IMO, unclear re Gracie's photo.

I believe that most of the bio photos were taken at the time of 2018 Champs Camp (and the program for emerging skaters such as Ting).
Karina Manta's short hair is new this season, for example.

But I think that some are from 2017 Champs Camp. For example:
Mirai and Ashley Wagner were not at 2018 CC, although they are wearing the same version of the USFS jacket as most of the others.
The bio photos of Tarah and Jason obviously are not from 2018 CC -- at which Tarah's hair was red at her photo shoot with Danny and Jason's hair was short.

(FYI, a casual photo of Gracie and friends at 2018 CC:

TBH I will be happy just to see Gracie skate to any music but yes modern music is a great choice for her - fingers crossed

Looking again, I think this was last year's picture. If you compare hair color to her pictures from the 2017 champs camp.

Karen has had a foot injury and been in a boot for well over a month now. I know she's always been a wild card but I wish she at least had the opportunity this season. It's unfortunate.

very true, but at least it's not an olympic season

She seems to always have some issue - boot problems, injuries, program swaps. I can't speculate too much without more knowledge, but it does make me wonder who is managing her as a skater and what decisions they are making. I do feel sorry for her though
