Kostornaya did. She wasn't even on the sub list, nor did she participate at the actual Test Skates. So the situation's a little different. Kostornaya also was extremely good - Much better than Gulyakova here.
The thing is, Vasilieva wasn't even bad. She scored 203 points here, lost to Gulyakova by 7 points. The gap was almost entirely made up of PCS(which would likely not be scored similarly internationally). If they replaced her with Gulyakova over something like this, what were the test skates even for? Vasilieva already talked about not participating in the Moscow local earlier, saying that she "didn't need to". And again, this is not some mandatory competition. Vasilieva might just as well have participated in a latter event. If Vasilieva wasn't participating and Gulyakova had participated here and scored 210, would they have had her replace Vasilieva? I really doubt it. The situation might be different if Vasilieva had a terrible competition and scored 160.
Of course, I don't know what Rusfed will do. They've made more stupid decisions. But I just don't see it happening.
This is why counting crossovers isn't really everything there is to skating skills. More crossovers, better speed vs fewer crossovers, poor speed... I'd take more crossovers with good speed. A small amount of crossovers is only impressive if the skater can actually handle it. Tarakanova's very impressive because she indeed easily gains a lot of speed.
I decided to count the amount of crossovers for Sofia Akatieva's and Kamila Valieva's FS's. Akatieva's from last season and Valieva's this season:
Kamila Valieva FS: 27
Sofia Akatieva FS: 16
I wonder how many skaters have had as few as Akatieva at the age of 10(now 11).
