2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Congrats to Trusova on the first ladies' quad lutz! Interesting how the first men's quad lutz (Mroz) and the first ladies' quad lutz (Trusova) were kinda similar in that the landing was fought for and the skater almost touched down, but they hung on to make history.

If Trusova throws in the 4Ts back in and even the 4S at some point, she'll challenge Zagitova and distance herself even further than she already is. Hope she can maintain this, because so far she's on fire. :)

Now that it has been ratified, I hope she stops doing it. I've watched her crash on it over and over, and it isn't worth the points. She has seemed a bit under the weather at this JGP, I hope she rests and heals before the final. It is nice that her mother and grandmother are with her, and she seemed so relieved after she skated. I remember back in the day when Weiss was trying to land a 4L, I'm not sure he ever did land it in competition. It is amazing that these two little girls can do this. Just amazing. But scary.

yes... To be able to land 4lz while fighting an illness.
sooooooooooooooo disappointed.
:disapp:

How much would you pay to sit in the judge’s seat that Sasha skates over to during the intro of her 5th Element program and pretend punches the “glass”? I’d probably pay a couple hundred bucks for that seat!!

Tiny Boss looked so exhausted after her skate today. Poor thing. :console:

a bit disapointed by trusova.
i kinda expected a 4th quad lol

I believe they took the others out because she is still feeling under the weather. She skates circles around this field and could have won with only the standard 3L+3T and 2A+3T. But she was hungry for that lutz and wanted to go for it. Such a fierce strong girl. Making the history books once again.

Congratulations Sasha!!!

She is soo mentally strong. Tiny Boss seems very confident and in control.

On Sasha's FS, I actually think it's quite amazing. a totally contemporaneous program. Especially everything leading up to the last Flip until the end. I think the music is really great for her.
There were many parts that were well performed. And she clearly listened to the music. it's a perfect program for Sasha to emphasize on her strengths.

:otopic:

Do you mean contemporary? Contemporaneous means "existing or occurring in the same period of time". Eg: Christopher Marlowe was contemporaneous with William Shakespeare. (Which I only know from a history course).

I am thinking about this every time I see the program. I was also wondering what would happen if she punches accidentally one of the PCs :laugh2:

Well that would be pretty appropriate actually :)

It’s actually a very honest interpretation of the escape and how she gets so close and downright uncomfortable with the judges. Very effective and true to the spirit of the movie.

So do you think that Sasha can compete for the Senior National title? Like seriously beating Alina?

This is my comment from early August. I still have the same impression maybe the scores will be a bit higher, I didn't expect back then the GOEs to be given so easily. Considering of course they will be clean and stay healthy.

Tough one. Judging by last years results I would say, Alina. Due to PCS and short program margin.

This year it's open, I would say Alina with a small margin, maybe plus Olympic status? I expect Alexandra's PCS to increase plus the strongest TES.

Something like (both clean of course).

Alina : SP 82 + 160 LP = 242
Alexandra : SP 75 + 167 LP = 242

It will be an amazing last group at RusNats, especially if everyone is clean or near clean.

I think she can.. Adelina won Senior at a similar age if I’m remembering correctly and Sasha is unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

Since 2009 there has always been a junior skater on the podium at RN (except i think 2016)

2009: Adelina Sotnikova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
2010: Ksenia Makarova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
2011: Adelina Sotnikova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
2012: Adelina Sotnikova, Julia Lipnitskaya
2013: Elena Radionova
2014: Elena Radionova
2015: Evgenia Medvedeva
2016: -
2017: Alina Zagitova
2018: Alena Kostornaya

So it's almost guaranteed at least one of the Eteri trio will finish on the podium and maybe even winning nationals.

my thoughts here...
1. Sasha has junior PCs, and they will not prop her at rusnats (not because rusfed is evil, but because they have serious senior contenders, and would be smarter to give one of those the Russian Champion title and corresponding benefits), so there will be a gap of around 15 points in PCs for sure (currently, her total PCs are 20 points behind of Alina's PCs).
2. The SP TES is nearly same, main difference in PCs so we don't bother with it.
3. In FS, Alina's TES at Nebelhorn was 83.54. Trusova's TES in Lithuania was 86.26, with 3 quads (but URed 4Lz and a fall on 4T). With everything clean, it could be something like +4 points for a clean 4Lz and +6 points for a clean 4T), which makes 10 points.
4. That would be a total of 13 points difference. Considering (1), i think in such situation, they would still give gold to Alina.
5. If Sasha does 4 quads and is clean, there is nothing they could do to keep her from winning.
6. I am not sure if her coaches would go for it, since winning senior rusnats is not such a priority for her (as she cannot go to euros and worlds), and it is all the training, risk of injury and so on. If anything, its better to do it at Junior Worlds or something like that to show off.

TL;DR I doubt that rusfed will score any of the uber juniors with 3 quads above clean Alina, considering the PCs difference. I doubt that any of the uber juniors will do a 4 quad program at rusnats.

Adelina won Senior at a moment when russia had no top senior ladies.

personally, I doubt it. Even Alena last season got "proper" and more "senior" like PCS at rusnats.
And I doubt they will hold back Anna and Sasha in this case.
Or at rusnats2017 when junior girl Alina got 33.38 and 69.65 pcs.
so we will see some gap between Alina and 3A but not "that" big as (JGP vs Challenger)

There is possibility though that she will learn 3A to that time (I've some suspicions that maybe she already learned it - but they are keeping it in secret - similar to unexpected Anna's 2 quads program, for example). It would give her serous advantage in her SP.

Not really. She still got 32 PCs, against Alina's 36.
32-33 PCs is still junior stuff on current level. Yep, she will get some boost, this is why I said 15 points difference, not 20. But no way any of the juniors will get 35+ and 75+ at rusnats.
