2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Gubanova, Panenkova and Tarusina have been assigned to Inge Solar Memorial.

Hopefully Tarusina in particular can get a nice high SB... she was really robbed on the JGP and I don't want that to cause her to not have assignments next season :sad4:

im not sure if she will move up to senior next season. because it'll be more crowded with 3A and possibly Guliakova/Gubanova. In junior we only have Kanysheva, Sinitsyna, Vasilieva, Usacheva and Valieva debut, Kromykh(?), also maybe Tarakanova? If she stay in junior she will get JGP for sure.

I’m so disappointed that Elena withdrew from SA, I feel like this season is really her last chance...

yep.
Specially considering that Russia has way too many top seniors already, and with 3A turning senior next year, rusfed will totally have to retire some skaters from GP because of the spot limit for russia.

So just how good is this step sequence by Sofia Dzepka(9)? :eeking::

I hope she'll gain some jumps and manage to participate in the Moscow younger age qualifier so that we get to see her doing the Elements-StSq and compare her to everyone else. But just about no one gives this effect for me, it's just so fast and light, with superb edges.

Wow, better than many at the top! I really want her to get some triples soon, or stabilize the 2A at the very least, to match this :luv17:

Whose going to replace her?

Based on her test skates and her Russian cup skate a few weeks ago she's not competitive right now, probably better to give up her spot than skate and be a disaster.

Is "3A" what we are calling them now?

I thought about making up a combination name like Schersovnaia or Trustorbakova ;).

Alexandra, Anna and Alena
ok, Alena has no quad/3A yet, but she is still good enough to beat most of the current seniors.

I also think the two programs she has this season are very good choice. Both can show her passion, but in a slight different way from her two programs last year.
This is the right type of "challenge" of style a skater needs, somewhat new but not completely different. Many people are disappointed that she didn't skate to Believer, but I think the rock Moonlight Santa is even better. It's full of tension and passion in a more subtle way.

In my opinion with the Believer free skate she would have not received these scores, i know she could have skate to it but i don't think the judges would have appreciated that kind of program as much.

I think she goes at JGPF in a very good position, she may not have a quad to show (i know she attempted the 4T in practice) but her jumps are bigger than Shcherbakova's jumps and she has no edge issues. (Kostornaya's lutz often receives an !)

Actually not that much. Radionova, Pogorilaya, Leonova, Fedichkina, Gracheva, Mikhailova etc. - they either will retire next season or just stop being competitive at all. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if there will be even more retirements considering very weak form and motivation for now from Tsurskaya, Panenkova, Sotskova etc. In other words - there can be some free spots for seniors next season even with 3A ascension.

Yeah, me too. Her jumps are so neat and tidy despite being small, and she’s one of the most consistent out of the juniors this season. She is also a really sweet girl, and in lots of ways reminds me of Sofia Samodurova...does anyone else think they are very similar?

Did Anna Tarusina hurt her back in the crash a few years ago? Is that why she doesn’t attempt a beilmann position?

Idk but she's never had a great biellmann anyway.

What bothers me is that this season she changed the combination spin and it's now slower.

Well, this year we have the following seniors who got GPs:
Zagitova
Medvedeva
Tuktamysheva
Konstantinova
Panenkova
Samodurova
Sotskova
Tsurskaya
Radionova

And there are others who did not, but we dont count those
Basically, since Russia pretty much maxed out possible GP spots, 3A turning senior means that 3 of the above mentioned ladies would be out of GP next year, regardless performance (because 3A will be better).
If someone performs poorly, it will just make things easier to rusfed.

I bet it's going to be Radionova, followed by Panenkova and Samodurova. Radio's jumps are getting worse and worse. I don't blame her because she has grown so much bigger than her junior years, not just height, but body proportion. The other two don't have much height in their current jumps, so very likely they are going to lose them once they grow more. Konstantinova actually is in a much better shape, because I don't see a downward trajectory.

Its debatable, we just wait and see how it goes this season
