2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

https://twitter.com/leelona/status/1055510532017528832?s=21 Here is the comparison of her salchow. Honestly I hope she’s not already training a quad salchow because there’s a lot more she needs to work on first before that and I don’t want it to mess up her triple sal.

But we can clearly see how huge the jump was even if she went off axis. A lot of height.

I'm not convinced. The second pic was taken closer..Look at her knees! There are on same height compared to the fence

I thought the same thing but you have to watch the video to really see it. I am not entirety convinced yet for a quad sal, I don't think just because you have high jumps it is easy to turn them into quads. If that were true, Osmond would be landing them.

However her sal is definitely higher and it is why she goes off axis.

your skater is going to WD, and its unlikely another russian will be invited.
Sakhanovich has got Pogorilaya's spot at Skate America last year, as Messing has take Chan's Spot at the NHK. Sometimes happen, even with or without injury.

It's so preposterous to think that, sometimes, replacements goes on accord between the host of the event and the fed of the replaced ?

Well, I don‘t know about the pictures but the 3S she did in the program WAS huge. I was surprised when I saw it happen. It looked slightly off axis, which was pretty weird since her salchow has always been really consistent and just... not like that. I don‘t know what it is and I don‘t want to make any assumptions about quads because Brian explicitly said they will only start training them once she‘s fully restored. I think it might be more off the same issue she has on all of her jumps but mostly the 2A - She has gained muscles and jumps higher now and sometimes she has problems controlling the power she gets. Probably the same here with her 3S.

To be honest if they are going to pull a skater they might as well pull Tsurskaya in favour of Sakhanovich (not Panenkova) because she came 7th at Skate America. As well as her gp is the Russian one they can select which Russian skater they will replace her with. That being said I don't think they'll pull skaters except possibly Radio who I can't see being ready for NHK as she wasn't ready for Skate America though I think she'll want to go so that she can qualify for nationals.

Wait... i wasn't saying that will happen, or that can necessary be Panenkova, but that can happen.

I just think that it's too early for be sure that all those nine, expected to be at the GP, are in lock for the nationals, but also that none can replace them at one of the next events, reducing the ones coming from the Cup of Russia.

So no loop combo just yet (which seems reasonable) but again two triple Lutz in the FS. I really don't understand this decision. Just repeat the Flip!

With her imperfect lutz technique Medvedeva's team hanged on flips. It was when her margin over competition was big and safe. Not now. She needs every BV point to compete with Zagitova's 238. 2 lutzes vs. loop+flip is 11.8 vs. 10.2 BV. It may matter.

0 GOE because ! against 1.5-2 GOE may also matter

Look what I just got sent. Is that a slight outside edge I spot there? ;)

If she could do it like this in competition... she should certainly get more than 0 GOE for her Lutz.

(Also off-topic but if you see this skatingfan200, I can‘t respond to your messages since your message storage is full. )

I can’t see on my tiny phone that well, but it looks like the cleanest lutz I’ve ever seen her do. It looks flat last second before takeoff but at the same time I can see the slight outside edge. Interesting

To me it looked like a slight outside which really surprised me since the lutz in her FS was definitely more inside/flat than anything even though she tried to hold the edge longer. I guess it‘s true she can do it in practice but somehow never when the program‘s really on. But I‘ll give her some time. Lutz edges aren‘t fixed in two months.
