Liza’s twitter feed is very funny. It’s amazing that she can be so witty in a language that she doesn’t get to speak every day.

Guys, maybe I am getting cynical in my old age, but whenever I read the English posts, I can't help but think of the following post from April:

Do you want to be Liza's "partner, friend and right-hand"?

Me: "Yes! I do!"

Well, Liza is looking for somebody to be her PR manager.

Details are in the description of this lovely photo of her:

For those like me who are not on Instagram, this post is also copied onto Facebook and vKontakte:

I think it's time that I got my CV up to date...

Doubtless a lot of the posts are from Liza herself. But, I don't think all of them are. Some of them in particular are screaming "PR post".

But, in a weird way, this makes me feel better. Because by delegating some of the public realations stuff, it means she has more time to concentrate on more important things. Like training to make sure she is back to where she belongs - at the top! :agree:

:cheer: ALL THE BEST IN SKATE CANADA, LIZA!!! :cheer:

I love Liza on Twitter (or whoever runs it, if it's indeed "PR posts"). There was a bit of a discussion in the Russian ladies thread recently how she's a bit over the top and too outspoken, but I think she definitely gets away with it without being obnoxious. Because while she's not afraid to call out others, she's also shown one of the most important qualities: she doesn't take herself too seriously and knows how to laugh about herself. Remember the picture with her "medals from the last seasons" and she just posted a black picture.

It must be a very dedicated PR person indeed who is up ungodly hours of the night to help Liza out as she's live commentating figure skating. Also, she's herself said she does get help with her English. Nonetheless she has recently given this interview in English to the In the Loop podcast:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yMdMPmDnzg&feature=youtu.be

It's around 9.30 into the program. So it's not like she's totally incapable of stringing two words in English after each other without help every step of the way. She also talks about being a more "open" person now, and that has helped her with her confidence.

ETA - I don't recall if this has been posted here before or not, but here's another recent(ish) interview with Liza:

https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2018...on-new-skating-style-and-social-media-trolls/

Also, I don't pretend to know much about PR-persons - I neither have one nor am one (I assure you all, all my posts are genuinely written by me myself - and I;)) - but I doubt their job is to impersonate you, but rather to give good ideas, such as: "You've got a great sense of humour, why don't you showcase that more - why don't you start a twitter account?" for example, or arrange fan meeting such as the one Liza recently had at some café, or perhaps photo shoots, inteviews perhaps, or suggest fun ideas such as the prize giving just now:

ETA - Also, it would be a very daring PR-person who wrote snarky tweets that might get their employer into hot water.;)

Oh, no. I wasn't saying that Liza couldn't speak English (I was very impressed with her English in the interview she did at the Finlandia, which you linked to above) or that she wasn't doing any of the social media posts herself. As you say, it would be hard pushed for a PR person to do the skating related posts, never mind staying up and posting about what is happening in competitions.

No, I was just saying that we have to bear in mind that she does have somebody working for her that is probably posting things to the social media accounts as well as Liza herself.

Like, there are things that are getting posted now that are different to what we were used to getting from Liza. Such as her most recent Instagram post - a competition where you predict the podium positions for the Ladies and Men at Skate Canada. Or even the way that her accounts are promoting this "Empress" brand for referring to her. (Sorry, but she will forever be Queen Elizabeth to me).

As I said, I think it is wise for her to have somebody that can take some of the weight off her own shoulders. So that she can concentrate on the more important things like skating and just being herself.

Ah, didn't realise there was another page when I wrote my reply to your previous post. :o:

I'm not so sure about that. There are quite a few sports people that do leave it to somebody else to manage their social media accounts.

But, it is the more "human" posts that you mention in the edit at the end of your post that for me prove that Liza hasn't gone completely down that route and is still posting things herself as well.

And long may it continue! Because we love her! :agree:

Yes, I see what you mean. And I would be inclined to agree if what she posted was just "see me compete this weekend in Skate Canada" or "here's this awesome photo shoot I did". But yes, the prize giving &c may very well be the PR person's idea - and a good idea it is too (for those who have Instagram, which, alas does not include my humble self;)), so at least Liza is getting her money's worth out of them.;)

But I think we are essentially in agreement, after all, and I misunderstood a bit of what you were saying, for which I offer my sincerest apologies.:)

No problem. And no need to apologise.

I think you're right, we are on the same page! :agree:

By the way, I don't have an Instagram account either. Although, I see you can now log in using your Facebook account. So, I might try that some time to see if it lets you see profiles that say "This Account is Private".

On the whole, I'm happy enough with the way I normally view the site.

"This account is private" means that followers have to be approved by the owner and only followers can see it. So I doubt that would work. Sorry :(

Thanks. I'll not need to bother then.

Getting back on topic...

How cute is she???!!!

You would just know it was Liza as soon as you saw her. She has barely changed at all! :jaw:

Mind you, it was strange to see Liza with shorter hair. But, at least we now know that shorter hair doesn't suit her. The longer hair is perfect for her.

CaroLiza_fan

Anyone else here thinking the 3turn out of her 3A is actually a transition? She did it again in practice but otherwise very solid and I think I saw a 3F in the video but aren‘t sure the comment section was hiding the take off a bit ...

I actually like how it looks, but I'm not sure Mishin would allow her to deliberately do a transition that will cost her points because it looks like a turn out.

That’s weird. I didn’t think of it that way at all. I thought it would be her all along lol

Congrats to Liza! Foot-perfect on all jumps and such confidence throughout the program. Good for her for nailing the triple axel. TBH, it seemed like some judges were so shocked she landed it, that they gave her -1 and 0's for it ;). I think even if they deducted GOE for the long preparation, I think her 3A achieved enough bullets to get at least a +2 average. Good luck in the free skate!

I'm so happy for Liza! That 3A was so amazing! I almost couldn't believe it was a 3A she landed it so solidly. And her lutz is a thing of beauty! :points:

Also, I think her movements a very tango-like so I thought she had great intepretation!

Looking forward to tomorrow! It's on at a fantastic time for Australia at noon. Lunch with Liza! :yahoo:
