2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Right now Alina is the only "whole" package russia has at the senior level. Tut is not doing well pc wise and Evgenia seems to be struggling technically with the new body. It is too bad Pogo and Maria can't get it together or Polina T. Great chance before the invasion next year of talent. However despite these challenges Russia other than Japan is looking pretty good.

Japan and Korea really have some gems coming up the next few seasons. I am excited to see Eunsoo Lim and Rika in their first GP season. For me this season it is so exciting because there are really some girls out there that make the senior competition more exciting and less predictable, see Skate Canada or Skate America. I love some healthy competition for our Russian girls :D For me this is the most exciting senior season so far and next season will probably be even more so with the three A's going into seniors. Figure skating is changing so much. Honestly I do not miss the days years ago when U.S. and Canadian ladies were dominating lol. I prefer Russian, Japanese and Korean girls over them lol

Gubanova, Sakhanovich, and Panenkova are assigned to Tallinn Trophy, with Nugumanova and Solovieva as subs.
Still nothing for Gulyakova... :rolleye:

tarakanova is listed under Sambo, chrustalniy as her club. Did she change again?

Not unless she changed since one day ago:

My recollection is that she's been listed as Sambo all the time - presumably this has to do with her switching after the permissable transfer time, and thus they get credit for her. Or something.

I'm a little stunned that they still aren't rewarding her for her work. Dasha already has the Alpen Trophy assignment. Does she really need another CS after two GPs?

Hope Gubanova doesn‘t withdraw this time. Also happy for Sima. Maybe more competitions will help Dasha get back her old form + consistency. Sad for Anastasia Gulyakova, though. From what I‘ve heard she did really well this season. And she’s senior eligible, right? Weird that they wouldn‘t push a senior skaterwith good outings more, especially since some of the GP participants struggle. So far it seems: Alina, Liza and Zhenya for worlds, probably in this order (well, only thing for sure is Alina for #1) but what if one of them falters? Then there are Masha who could show up in a good form realistically at her first GP, Polina who is really struggling so far, Dasha who seema to have stamina and confidence issues, Stasya who’s been doing admittedly very well so far but went to Worlds last year and bombed... So, all in all their three options seem solid enough so far especially when we take into consideration that it‘s early in the season and Liza and Zhenya have time to solve their respective issues (adding flip for Liza, regaining consistency and levels for Zhenya + doing something about those e) but if one of them falters it would be good to have a solid option. And if Anastasia is really doing so well... why don‘t they help her get used to international competitions?

If Gulyakova has a senior B, they could send her. Or Sakhanovich. Or Nugumanova. Or Samodurova. All have scored 200+ this season.

I hope Nugumanova gets another assignment, she’s looking pretty strong this season, but yeah i agree, Gulyakova is really having better showings than Sakhanovich, Nugumanova and Gubanova. She’s even doing better than some of the GP ladies (cough Dasha, Stasya cough)

Why Stasya? Have I missed something? She didn‘t have her first GP yet, did she? And she did pretty well/ok at Challengers, one bronze and a 4th place, right? Polina sadly is the one who doesn‘t live up to her potential so far. Stasya never had that much to begin with but she doesn‘t look bad at all so far, I think?

and right now, Liza with mistakes beats clean Zhenya. So right now, there is no ground to say that Liza is behind.

That’s incorrect. Liza beat Med in the short, Med was not clean.

Med was cleanish in the long and beat Liza by about 8pts.

There is no time where a Liza with mistakes has beaten a clean Med.

Here's a recent performance by Gulyakova: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StKsxFqPt8s. You can judge by yourselves.

Not as impressive as I thought but still relatively solid. She jumps really well, especially 2A! Other than that she seems a bit slow. Her spins are ... spins. Nothing particularly good or bad about them. Her choreography, though... is she coached by Mishin? Because that program looks really Mishin like... lol

How long will it take for somebody to realise that she‘s in fact NOT skating to Believer any longer lol

Every time poor Ted Barton announced her music as Imagine Dragons and then Moonlight Sonata started, I swear I could hear him silently wince through my TV.

I think she's coached by Ilia Klimkin, unless she's moved recently.
