Alina Zagitova

I'm laughing too hard because, even as I wrote that paragraph citing Kolyada's interview, I was thinking the same thing, "now it's not looking like such a great promo". Like I said, you have to be careful about your timing as you place new cooks in the kitchen, at first things don't get necessarily better, and if you have no time to "waste" then it can be a not ideal move.

I agree with you, it is going to get crowded at Eteri's camp, so far it is looking great for Alina, she is getting first class treatment. She is their only Russian senior so the choice is more clear, but I also think they are really invested on helping her make her transition from puberty and get her settled into a new high performing normal. With her obvious talent (and what she's already won) she is quite an asset to them, and I'm sure the "other coaches' circling the water" bit is not going by unnoticed by them either.

We'll have to see how it all settles down next year after the current season finishes up.

My bet is Alina, as proof that Eteri can work with seniors and Sasha T .. because this is Sasha)))
Anna and Alyona will have to look for a new place

I agree with your reasoning, I think Alina will come out as a top prized asset for them, she attracts a lot of attention too (international attention).

If I were the Fed I wouldn't move up the other 3 at once, specially since some of them have never even achieved any major tittles as a Junior yet, I would move up two and keep 1 back. I know that as a Fed they move up way more people that what I'm talking about but I mean what they would consider their top talent.

Japan Fed kept Rika back and moved up just Marin and Kaori as top talents, last season, I think that from a Fed point of view it makes sense to spread out the coming up of top skaters as you already have the Senior field you had from before and you want people to gain reputation (for the all important essential PCS) and confidence (for the all important clean skates).

But circling back to our topic of devotion here, Alina, she has a lot more qualities than just being a great skater and winning all that she has won already and will certainly win in the future. She has great charisma and performance abilities, she is drawing in an enthusiastic international fan base (that's on the coattails of her charisma). They didn't pair her GP Events with Yuzuru's out of luck, they did it because having two still competing current Olympic Gold Medalists is THE event of the season. The fact that both of them love performing and are great under the spotlight only further helps their "pairing" case. For the Russian Fed seeing a bunch of foreigners enthusiastically waving up their flag must account for a lot.

Japan Fed kept Rika back and moved up just Marin and Kaori as top talents, last season,

no. they didn't "kept Rika". She wasn't age eligible last season. Her BD - 21 July 2002.

RusFed isn't going to keep 3A in Juniors. And they shouldn't. They didn't keep Samodurova and Panenkova this season because both of them had high SB. They didn't keep Alina in juniors last season (as some users desired).
Anna/Sasha/Alena They all have SB high enough to get 2 GP spots. Anna and Sasha have ultra-с elements. And RusFed need girls who can fight at the top level.

I love Raf. I am personally ready to start a GoFundMe page to send the Knierims to spend time with him to fix their jumps. Sorry for the off-topic. I think anyone could benefit from his expertise, but I think Alina is right where she needs to be, and too many cooks in the kitchen can spoil the soup.

Speaking of spoiling things if people could take some conversations to private message that would be great.

To the idea of Rafael Arutyunyan paying attention to Alina I would say only this - I doubt it would have any positive impact to change routines for just couple of days in the middle of the season, just between important competitions. No matter what anyone thinks about the qualities or "qualities" on whatever side (thats more the matter of taste). Maybe during summer but hardly now.

Also, let me express one note: I'm still amazed how many "fans" still have the need to show some worries about Alina or other "Eteri girl" (it's not disrespectful, it's common term we use everytime ), that so often somebody comes with, sorry to say, absurd proposals like this.

Please, keep discussion on here respectful to Alina, and also respectful to Alina's coach, who is going through a difficult time right now , for those who want to discuss alternative coaches, there are threads on the Edge which may be more appropriate for in depth discussions of that. We want to celebrate Alina here!

Alina is young but she has shown that she understands her strengths and weaknesses, and our jobs as fans are to support her and trust that she and her parents (and her coaches!) are making the right choices for her career. I've said this before, even if Alina is to retire tomorrow she would have had a skating career better than 90% of ladies, but she is not retiring, she is moving forward, the first Olympic champion since Witt to really move forward after winning the Olympics, and I'm excited to see what she has in store for us. There are only five more days until Rostelecom. Go Alina! :hap10:

I did not see the part where Alina pointed at her cheek before the kiss, but it somehow makes this scene even better.:gclap:

P.S. j00mla, you have nice eyes :)

Rafael Arutyunyan, did a interview, saying he be in Moscow for a couple of week, and said, he will bring Nathan to Moscow to train for Grand Prix France, Maybe Team Alina can hire him, for a couple days to work on her Jumps. I think Raf, is one of the most elite jump coach in figure skating

I am not sure if there is any sound reason to get Alina a new coach for jumping. If someone needs to learn how to jump, Eteri camp wouldn't be a bad choice. There are students in her camp can perform the most difficult quad jump.... Don't think they learn those by themselves. I think Alina doesn't perform 3A so far is probably out of other reasons (e.g. strategic consideration, risk vs return...Etc.) rather then her capability. If she sees there is a need, I am quite confident she can master it.

It would be so cool to see Masaru at Rostelecom!

And I agree there shouldn't be any changes to Alina's coaching especially now. And I am sure Eteri's camp isn't lacking in jump coaching with what they produce.

...

Oh, Flanker, I watched the Three Wishes for Cinderella and I loved it! It's one of my fave films now and I can see why it's so loved. I was smiling about the whole way through it. The acting was great. The owl, horse, and dog was great. The costumes were great too. I loved seeing the countryside and the song was beautiful. It was beautifully done. :luv17:

Um no dog at rostelecom cup and certainly no coaching changes for any poster speculating about that. Coaching changes usually dont work. IE: Zhenya. Medvedeva skated brilliantly for three seasons as a senior and then made one of the most controversial coaching changes in the history of figure skating. She is not the same skater with her new coach who is a great coach and on the level of the great coach she left. Alina loves and respects her coach. She is not leaving her. Nor should she.

It is nicer and safer here than anywhere else at GS. ;) disagreements aren't bad from time to time.

I think it's ok to have different opinion as long as the discussion is out of caring for Alina. I like this forum cause majority of people are true fans of Alina and there is no deliberate "bashing" on her....Quite a contrary to other forum on the Edge.

Well, fanfests are a place to gush about your favorite skaters. Every once and a while we have a few people who stumble into them starting debates about scoring or rumors, etc. But in this house we love and gush over Alina Zagitova :luv17:

The week of Alina’s second GP is upon us.

I wish Alina clean skates she can be truly happy about, she deserves this, and more than that she has earned it.

I’ll also take a moment to wish Eteri the best in what has to be a very difficult time with the untimely passing of her Mom. She was by Alina’s side, doing her job and being the pro that she is in Helsinki, right in the middle of what must’ve been a very tough personal week. May her Mom’s spirit, a person that was such a big presence to all their skating family, inspire them all to serenity and victory.

Eteri and Alina are both so strong.
