With Kimmie and Emily in the top 2 spots, who would it be Alyssa? Rachael? Katy? Well while we sat and pondered, Beatriza's name is called and out she comes and after that huge flying sit spin with all its contortions, skates in her speedy like fashion and hits a 3x3 followed by a 3 and later a 2A and the audience goes wild. and they stayed wild while Bebe continued to pour it on.
The ovation was thunderous. Ken Congemi was all smiles in the Kiss and Cry and Frank Carroll had to sit in on it.

Hopefully the Free is just as good and Bebe will be at Worlds.

Kimmie was fine but still on the edge of blandness. Emily was very good until she did the footwork which everyone agreed was not esthetically pleasing.
Katy went out and skated her best in a long time. Rachael has a lot a charisma and trust me, it's hers next year.
and our beloved Alyssa who could have won this but she did the inevitable on one jump but she didn't fall, just popped it.

Many good skaters but all with faults: Megan Hyatt fell out of a jump; Zukowski, just not my cup of tea, Cannonarzzo (sp) surprisingly better than I thought. Megan Oster a beautiful looker as well as a beautiful skater but the jump demons got her. All in all the Ladies had a better night than the men.

Yet, it's not over till it's over. So ponder who will be the 3 to go to Worlds. Many are in contention for the podium.

Joe

Pointswise, Alissa would have been better off if she had fallen on her last jump instead of popping it. The vagaries of the CoP...

Bebe, what a dynamo. (Loved her costume, too. :) )

   :agree: But eveyone has heard enough for me on the unitards. I could have seen them all in them, and then and been "bug in a rug" happy. GREAT STUFF.

Bebe, what a joy to watch, see is so fulfilling sometimes, and always leaves me smiling. I can't ramble, don't have time. Wish I could say wondrous thing about them all. but Bebe - I hope the nay-sayers understand what it is about her now. If not they may never get it.

BeBe was great. Where did that come from? Wouldn't it be great if she did that in the long? I can't believe BeBe has a chance to win.
Kimmie needs to work on showing her personality. I think all the girls in the top six are better then her on the presentation side. That girl you see talking and laughing with the cameras, that is the Kimmie she needs to showcase on the ice.

I would love it if Bebe and Alyssa skated lights out and bumped Emily from the podium. I'm not crazy about Kimmie, but she won't get bumped.

I was sooooo happy watching Bebe last night and I totally LOVE her costume too. Right before she went on, her face seemed so - serious/sad - I thought, oh no she isn't in to this THEN BAM! she started skating and smiling and it was terrific.

i really want Bebe to have the skate og her life on saturday and go to worlds, but ses been here before and i don't think it will happen. She had a amazing skate last year in the SP and missed the world team. i belive the same story was true the year before. This hasn't been her best season in the grand prix... so i don't have much hope. I would love to see it though. i really would.

I love Bebe, but that costume!!! It was really ugly i will always cringe at the sight of a unitrad in women's skating!!!!

I didn't find the unitard flattering for her... JMHO

I loved seeing Bebe and Katy bring it last night... but the LP is what will be the test for both...

Oh, you guys are so wrong about Bebe's costume. It was totally cool and she looked great in it!

her butt looked way too big... that girl don't got a butt, but she does in that costume

All figure skaters are beautiful and I would never let the word "stubby" creep into the conversation, but to me a frilly skirt is not the way to go for our sparkling dynamo Bebe.

I thought BeBe was fabulous... from the costume to the music... unbelieveable... Performance of the night... If Kimmie's 3x3 had been appropriately downgraded, BeBe would probably be in the lead... how 'bout dem apples...

I like your description of Kimmie ... "on the edge of blandness:  ...
I'd put her more inside the lines of blandness.

I was blown away by Bebe last night. I pray she can have an even better performance tonight, and that the judges will have the courage to mark her accordingly.
Also ... I was crying when Katy skated. I was so darn happy for her. She looked like an entirely different young lady than the one we saw in Hartford. Good for her!!!

Actually, I'm not a big fan of the unitards, but I think it worked really well for Bebe. She has shorter, thicker legs than a lot of the girls, and I think the unitard gave her body some length. The little stick girls can't get away with the unitard, but that little powerhouse Bebe can!

It was delightful seeing Bebe skate like that-- she's had so many fans for so many years -- that it's just swell for all of us. Would love to see her on the podium.

Joe thanks for the up close and personal report -- please keep 'em coming! I miss not being there.

And ... I was carping earlier about unglamorous cities hosting Nats... but seeing Spokane rolling out the red carpet and a full arena has me has me about to sit at the table for a big plate of crow.

I'm so glad Bebe skated so great! I've been waiting for her to really break out for years, and it seems like she might do it this year. I'm not going to get my hopes up, though, there's still the free skate.

Bebe

She was hands down the best of the night. It was wonderful to see. I hope she can hold it together for the long. It's wonderful to have someone to root for again.
