Team Orser needs to help her mentally. Bringing in a new combo with the GPF on the line wasn't smart.
Agreed. Too much too soon, even if everything is going well in practice.

I am sure that the team "Medvedeva is on the right track" will put the blinders and keep going on. No, no, no, no. She is not on the right track. Just look at her face and the face of Borser in K&C. Those are not faces of people who are on the right track. She has to ask for Eteri's forgiveness as soon as possible because now she may not make the team this year already. And this will be the end of her "non Leonova career".
She was my inspiration after Yulia retired. She was one of a kind. I even started a thread some time ago: "Can Medvedeva become the best ever?" Now behind the talks about "improvements" I see her becoming an average skater with North American style. I am very sad today.

I feel her problems started UNDER Eteri... that is why she left. She does NOT have to humiliate herself to make Eteribots happy.
Evgenia had several injuries going on (including back injury). And now there is immense pressure on her from people who decided to hate her just because she left Eteri.
Hopefully, she can figure out her problems before the nationals and do what is the best for her. Remember, Tuktik came back after several lackluster seasons. So Evgenia can do it too, maybe.
Congrats to team Mishin.
@VenusHalley. People don't hate Zhenya because she left Eteri, but are not happy with the way she left. In Russian culture, students are expected to respect and praise their teachers, and aknowledge teacher's contributions to their success. We really do not see how one can call "humiliation" aknowledging that a teach spent over 10 years with you and led you to several major medals. We really do not see how going to this teacher and saying "thank you" is humiliation. You simply aknowledge your teacher's contribution to your career, and express your gratitude for it.
Under this assumption, Zhenya's behaviour seems ungrateful to many.

Are you serious? Ask for Eteri's forgiveness? Zhenya did not commit some atrocious crime against Eteri, regardless of of what people's personal opinions may be, objectively she did what she thought best for herself. Is Zhenya Russia's #1 as of this season? From what we've seen, no, she's not getting the scores she used to get. I still have faith in Orser and Tracy and Zhenya's whole team based on how they were in the K & C post program. Orser himself said that she's not going to be able jump left and right and grasp every new technique and concept right away and it'll be a long and rocky process but in the end, like the Euro commentators said, hopefully it'll be one step back and two steps forward. As of today, she's in the one step back area. I'm confident she'll be able to move two steps forward soon, however.
I think honestly with all the people giving her such negative comments and Russian media following her every step, the stress seems to have really gotten to her. We must remember, she IS still a teenage girl, not even 20 yet. To have so much pressure at that age, cannot be easy. I hope she stays off social media and and the interviews, other media things and really is able to stay in a protective bubble from the negativity to maximize her confidence and training. I'm confident she and Borser and his team will be able to do that.
Strongly disagree.
They are correcting her techniques which, btw, started when she was under Eteri. Her jumping technique was not built on a foundation that will last. And she wanted to have longevity. It's why she transferred to Brian. Look at her axel and salchow. She has made improvements. They're only starting out so we cannot expect her to be at 100% all the time. This will take time. And I will wait for Zhenya's time to shine again with better techniques and a more loving support group.
How did JULIA do once the puberty hit her? Not so great, right? Not saying Brian is the way for her. But I would definitely not dare imply that none of her current problems would arise if she was with Eteri. Sure, she could have possibly have had another podium filled year. And what after? Has Eteri even managed to coach one of her female skater beyond their 20s?:disagree:

Anyways, some updates for rusnats and next year.

Did she talk crap to her in the media? She didn't. She expressed she is grateful. It was Eteri that was flinging feces on Zhenya, bringing out the dirt and lies as she did with other who left her.

I won't say that her jumps got stronger. At least not in competition. Her axel became better and that's all to me

She didn't have such chance, to be honest. Everybody left her at one point (speaking of her star-students at least). And the reason, I think, lies in high competition at her camp. So I won't degrade Eteri's position to just a kids coach only.
