Alina Zagitova

I'm a little late but here it goes:

I think Alina did great in her SP, it wasn't her best but it wasn't very far from it. However, I think we need to aknowledge that if Rika skates absolutely perfect like she did yesterday, there's no way Alina can beat her simply because her technical elements are harder and she's already getting pcs almost as high as Alina. So in the future, going face to face against Rika, Alina can only beat her if one of these 2 things happen: 1) Rika doesn't skate perfectly clean and Alina does; 2) Alina changes her program to introduce harder components.

Since Rika hasn't been consistent with her 3 axel, I believe there's still a (small) chance that Alina might win tomorrow. Let's wait and see. I must say it's a pleasure to watch both of them skate, what an amazing moment it is for the ladies figure skating.
Yes, true.

But we never know..Skaters does not skate perfectly clean every competition...And Alina program, in my opinion, is harder because of the elements, it is such a complex and beautiful program. So, if she skates tomorrow as she did in Japan Open she has big chances!

She seemed a bit tired to me. Considering this, it‘s amazing how she can still pull of a clean performance. I do think she was scored fairly, though. Her jumps weren‘t as sharp, her combo looked better in practice and her interpretation wasn‘t as great as it was at the Rostelecom GP SP. But again: She still has every chance to win. She just needs a good FS. And I think we‘ve all seen that Alina thrives under serious competition, not crumbles. I believe we will see her strongest FS so far because she will be well rested and hungry. And a hungry, determined Alina is dangerous. Whether she actually wins in the end doesn‘t matter. But I‘ll believe she will. Why? I don‘t know. Just a feeling. Maybe I‘ll be proven wrong. If so, it‘s not that bad either. I just want to see a fierce Carmengitova. And at least this we can be sure of. This girl‘s a fighter and she‘ll give it her absolute maximum in the FS.

Alas, it was deleted by wise and peace loving GS mods. No idea how it ended, but in my mind Flanker won :dev2:

I agree.

Really? Can this be confirmed? Interesting and disappointing if what you say about the rules are true.

Where does Alina skate in the long program?

She hits 1 or 2 at her best bullet points of goe while has been reigned like there were 4-5 on every single jump pass

Hi, helenacm. I think the FS starts here in Brazil 7:55 PM (Brasília), according with @swanyooh on Twitter (on his account there’s a lot of time zone conversions). Alina will skate around 8:26 PM. Espero ter te ajudado.

Alina’s Carmen is, indeed, so beautiful and complex, strong and we all can tell how much she enjoys skating it (even more than poto, in my opinion). I’m already preparing my poor heart for tomorrow... Even if Alina skates clean, with no UR calls, and got some Japan Open type of score, we still have to wait and see if Rika will skate clean. Because if she does... two 3A + 5 point into the lead... could be hard for anyone to beat.
But I still believe Alina and I hope she can enjoy herself tomorrow and be proud.

On a different note, if you watched junior ice dance, that was a drama, victory for the smallest difference possible... If that would happen in ladies, I would definitely have cardiac arrest

Obrigada! Bom ver brasieliros aqui! Ajudou muito!!

And I agree it will be a difficult battle for both of them, Rika and Alina.

Excited for tomorrow. I don't know if I will be able to watch it live, but my heart will be in Vancouver!

Scott512 so lazy internet user

That's a good one Ed. I know you're being funny it's fine. We have to have humor with each other here from time to time it's all in good fun.

So I was interested in how my second favorite Nastya G did in Zagreb or wherever she is and instead of going to the edge and asking someone how she did in the Golden Skate and I went and researched that myself and her Fan Fest and found out! :) so in a roundabout way ad you got me to use my good habits again where research is concerned!

Hoping Alina had an excellent practice today and has an excellent free skate tomorrow and we will just let the chips fall where they may.

And imagine the controversy for years afterwards lol.

Japanese TV channel interviews Alina yesterday don’t know if this has been posted yet

Today was a looooooong day of figure Skating jet lag for me, functioning on 3 hours of sleep is clearly beyond my capabilities,

But, inspired by Alina’s feat yesterday and her great practice run today, I was all business and hard work and drove the bus all the way back to the garage with all wheels firmly attached.

Go Alina, tomorrow is Carmen day, let’s paint this day in bright red with big smiles and a great FS.

Good night folks!

I have been busy, so I haven't been here in a while, and I feel like I missed a LOT! Anyways, regardless I will ALWAYS find a way to watch Alina. :luv17:

Congrats to Alina! She is second, but she still did great! And as long as she is happy then I am happy. :hap10:

And oh boy! Just the thought that it could be like the Junior Ice Dance... :drama:

She said in the interview - I was a bit tense and focussing more on the jumps. I was nervous and I didn't do everything as easy and lightly as usually.
When asked whether she was nervous because of Kihira, she said - no, I never watch and focus on performances of others, I focus only on my skate.

It was a loooong day for me too - I woke at 5 in the morning, after a xmas party night! (which went into the wee hours), to watch it live :)))
