Geez talk about tough competition at the top. I mean Rika was great. Our Alina can't catch a break. She got unlucky with that Lz+T combo and it was a bad week for her. I hope this will motivate her to push harder and come back stronger for the Worlds which will be the big one for Alina.
 
Rika had a fantastic short. I'm sad for Alina, but I hope this competition will drive her forward.

We love you Alina! Keep going!

Well, that wasn‘t her best but she‘s still got a silver medal. There‘s no shame in losing. GPF isn‘t the most important competition once. Nationals, Europeans and Worlds are yet to come. :)
 
Alina was smiling a bit and making hearts at the top podium skaters waiting area.

It was not the clean skate that she wanted but it was a save skate, she didn't fall, she did all the rest, she did the best that she could today. It she looked nervous before but she looked relieved it was over afterwards.

SILVER IS THE NEW GOLD!!!

Quite literally I mean what I say above. Everything Alina touches turns to gold on the spot.

I'm happy for her, she got on the podium, she got Silver which contrary to what some posters on other parts of this podium might think is an amazing result and.....and.....she still has plenty of room for improvement and growth.

She is walking the walk.

Today I'm Mishin, the eternally happy coach at the kiss and cry!!!

Go be happy Alina and enjoy the rest of your Vancouver experience, though judging from the travel ideas of RusFed I think she might get on the plane tomorrow night right after the gala :laugh2:

First half of the season - done and dusted. Now for the second half - onwards and upwards!
 
Silver is not the first loser, it is the second winner!!!

I love you Fluture, you are one of our Golden MVPs here, but we need to celebrate stuff even when it isn't gold (this idea that only gold matters is what's given so many skaters so much trouble in life, in my gentle opinion).
 
It's not about losing gracefully. It's about the flock of buzzards. I hope Alina reads Alexei Yagudin's interview and not the 823798471235 others that are going to appear now.

Alina is defined by so much more than her medals. Go Alina! :hap10:
 
I loved how she gave thumbs up to Rika after her performance, despite knowing this would cost her the title. It‘s such a defining moment and shows her character very well. Gracious and classy, in defeat and victory. I‘m proud of her even more now, even if it was ”just“ silver in the end.

I can celebrate silver all day! I have no problem with that at all. Alina didn‘t look heartbroken, in fact she smiled and gave thumbs up to Rika. Which is great and exactly the right attitude. And silver at the GPF in the season after winning the Olympics is a great achievement, considering how many would have retired right away. Is that positive enough? :laugh: :hap10:

It breaks my heart to see her so nervous and stressed (it was clear before and after the FP). We will love you and support you no matter what *.*

Once again Alina makes me proud, I admire her spirit, she is one of the greatest athlete. This silver medal isn't less valuable than gold.:love:
 
Alina is still at the top and having a girl with stronger technical content winning at a grand event was gonna happen eventually. She'll take it as the champion she is and maybe having this happen early on wil be better, and won't throw her off as it has with other young winning-streak champions. All I want is for her to be able to finish her programs with a smile.

I am so proud of Alina! We really have a great reason to celebrate!

Yes, she popped the first combo from her program BUT did not melt down, and completed clean her entire program. (Including her 3Lz+3Lo signature combo). This shows that she grew a lot mentally speaking, and is still evolving.

Also, she was smiling at the end, and showed so much sportsmanship, showing hearts for Rika and everything. She won today, a silver medal and she won it gracefully.

These are my thoughts after this amazing GPF. In the end I just want to confess that first I made the mistake to read the comments from the competition forum (where I wasn't active because it's very hard to reason with people when you are Alina's fan) and I am very disappointed by the amount of bad words people throw at this amazing girl. So much pressure on her, from media, fans, all FS world, I just wish it would not be so hard for her. She's such a graceful and gentle person, I am amazed that she performs so great, skating with such pressure on her shoulders.

Congratulations Alina, it was an amazing competition for you, and I am sure it is just the beginning of a great season [emoji173]
 
Oh my goodness Ted just said that Alina tripped on a TV cable and injured her foot and almost WD
I'm even more proud of her now
