Alina Zagitova

I'm here to say just this: I'm so proud of her!

What she does in her post Olys year so far is amazing. She has to deal with growth, does not have muscle memory and need time to start jump properly even in practice (the reason for bad jumps in last competitions i guess - there is not possibility to scate half an hour before skate), she has growth spurts, is learning quads while work on her muscle memory for triples, have to deal with pressure ad OGM and with extra pressure as she is s kid who "stole gold" in eyes of many, also she is famous and has to learn how to live with it, it'a hard for every athlete .. And she is here, improving in everything and skate flawless ..

Edit: I just read here she was injuder? Oh noo .. hope it's not serious :( God damn how that can happen? How it's possible that cables are not secured?

Here is the full press conference.

Alina had two questions to answer and she looked great, relaxed and happy. Liza gave one of the best answers I've seen to a hard question. Worth the watch guys. Click on the big play button.

Yes I watched this and junior ladies at the same time  it was hard.
Alina looked like her regular self, but she has always kept her true feelings bottled up so I hope that she is not feeling too upset inside.

For one I'm sure. I will never again watch skating at Eurosport (for my region). The lady commentator was very unjust. According to her, Liza should have a higher FS rating than Alina. Then the other 5 girls were delighted, and only Alina disappointed her. That made me very angry. There is so much ignorance and lack of respect. Otherwise, I think I've never been so much cheering for someone in any sport. Actually, while I was a little girl, Jelena Isinbayeva was my personal superhero. And then came Alina ... Congratulations Alina!!! I'm so proud!!!

I don't think she is, she gave little sideway glances and laughs at Rika and I even think Liza, she looked as happy as one can be when you know you gave it your best in that moment (whether that best was your all time best or just the best you could do at that time).

You have to give it all you've got, and she did, and be happy with it after. Things to work on, greater possibilities are all motivation for the future.

The past is in the bag, and her bag is a great amount of awesome at this moment in time.

This commentator and all the other "dissapointed" people should feel very ashamed of themselves when they find out that Alina skated injured, when her team wanted to withdraw her from the competition.

That's how ambitious and determined this girl is.

Most of her jumps looked borderline UR to me but so did the jumps of other top ladies too and I don't think any of these got called. If Alina really hurt herself, it explains why she was so tense at the beginning and then the mistake. This is very unfortunate, hopefully is not that bad! I want to complement her on not letting the mistake distract her. She was so dedicated to the performance afterwards. Such an improvement from last year where she used to be devastated until the end. This is what experience does to an athlete. I'm sure she'll take this competition as another example of good experience despite the 2nd place. She still got a very very high score and has to be proud of herself. I am!

Those sideway glances :agree:

I have become connoisseur of dead eye look in second place  after watching too many competitions. Alina definitely didn't have that.

If Alina did withdraw, their comments would be even uglier. :dev2:

I stay for one minute longer in competition thread than I should, and now I very angry ..
Anyway ,congrats to Alina with silver

This time I did not read or comment anything because I expected that something would make me angry too. It's done. Alina achieved 3rd highest score of the season today, the 1st is still hers. If she skated with an injury, that tells about her character and about her strength much more than would tell any record if she would be healthy. Alina is queen of the ice and worlds are not war away. Stay healthy Alina and stay focused :agree:

During the junior pairs short Ted forgot to turn off chat  and I saw Fanpage Zagitova promise to stream Rusnats!

My stream (ISU official) had no audio on YouTube.....:laugh2: no music....nothing....so I went to look for the press conference and moved on to that.

Sad to miss Ted and his awesome positiveness.
