Anna Shcherbakova

New insta posts, looks like she's having fun exploring Canada

Soon... She jumped quads a year before Sasha. It's not so long ago she handled them perfectly in domestic competition. Come on, she is not first nor last who just did not do well at one competition. Now she has rusnats before her and still has the big chance for junior worlds.

Yes, exactly, this was her first big competition, fighting jet lag and nerves, yet she didn't take it easy in the FS and gave it her all... she gained experience and will be stronger next time. :agree::rock::cheer2:

She won‘t have etlag at Nationals and she always does better at national competitions anyway. I think she‘s still got a great chance for the worlds team this year. And even if she doesn‘t land the quads at Nationals, as long as she doesn‘t bomb the SP, she has a higher scoring potential than Alena Kanysheva or Anastasia Tarakanova.

It‘s better it happened here than at Nationals. She is a first year junior after all and trying the hardest layout in SP (tied with Sasha there) and second highest in the FS... I must admit I didn‘t expect her to falter here due to seeing her so confident at the Russian competitions but I should have considered the huge pressure she is under as well as the simply ridiculously hard layout she attempts. It can‘t always work out. But let‘s keep our fingers crossed that it works out at nationals and worlds this year.

It was still sad to see Anna being the only one of Team Tutberidze not wearing a medal at the ceremony... But luckily Alina gave her the flower crown to wear. :luv17:

I hope she uses this as a learning experience and comes back stronger. She has amazing potential.

I don‘t think they will leave Anna at home if she skates decently at Nats. She doesn‘t even have to land the quads. As long as she doesn‘t bomb the SP, she can earn a significantly higher score there than little Alena or Anastasia. Her scoring potential is huge. She just needs to deliver.

And I won‘t comment on the Med 2.0 part. The only thing I can say is: if she is an improved version of Med she will win at least 3 worlds titles. That‘s a lot for having such poor skating skills. :rolleye:

No honestly, Anna has great musicality and interpretation. She never showed that the mistakes affected her in the SP, even though it was clear how sad she was afterwards. That‘s strength right there. And it shows that she’s a great and professional performer.

I do agree on the junior part, though. I really think she should stay in juniors one more year, win Worlds and JGPF and enter the senior ranks with a great reputation and more consistency in competition. But I don‘t know whether rusfed will really keep her in juniors. I personally doubt it. They have lots of great junior skaters next year to dominate anyway - most notably Alena Kanysheva, Ksenia Sinitsyna, Kamila Valieva and Daria Usacheva. I think if she does well at Junior and Senior Nats and Worlds, she will be sent senior next year.

I think will keep her in juniors for 1 more season
her seasons best isn't high enough to guarantee a senior gp spot, also its not certain she will be selected for junior worlds

1 238.43 Alina ZAGITOVA
2 221.44 Alexandra TRUSOVA
3 219.02 Elizaveta TUKTAMYSHEVA
4 217.98 Alena KOSTORNAIA
5 205.39 Anna SHCHERBAKOVA
6 204.89 Evgenia MEDVEDEVA
7 204.33 Sofia SAMODUROVA
8 202.62 Serafima SAKHANOVICH
9 198.76 Anna TARUSINA
10 198.65 Anastasia GUBANOVA

Yes, if she doesn't bomb the SP (and she won't), she doesn't need to go to such risk as at JGPF, where she obviously wasn't quite mentally ready for quads, but they probably wanted her (or she wanted) to try for the podium, although it should have been probably better if she took it more easily... with her incredible artistry, she doesn't really need to take Sasha approach if she's clean otherwise...

And I also quite agree about the junior part (after JGPF)... I didn't quite agree before but it may be better for her after all, as you said...

/care this is a dumb rant/

Is anyone except me annoyed she still jumps the lz-lo in her SP when it failed her in ALL her last 4 competitions?

Can't they just swap to a lz-t combo in the SP? it's almost no bv difference and does not need perfect timing. Alena has the junior record with the layout. I'd like to see her safe at JWC...

I don’t think it’s that she can’t do it. She’s landed it every single time she’s attrmpted it in the FP, it’s the SP that keeps letting her down for some reason. Maybe she’ll be more comfortable with her SP as time passes, because if I remember correctly, she had her FP done at the beginning of the off-season and her SP right before test skates? That might have something to do with it.

Her success rate on the 4lutz wasn't that good at GPF. It might have been jet lag. She still landed 6 triples, so she wasn't a total disaster in the LP. I'm confident she'll skate much better at RN. I'm worried for Zag, tbh, she could be off the podium already there if the 3A's skate cleanly.

Likely because Trusova lands 4Lz periodically and Shcherbakova may feel like 4T is not a fancy thing anymore.
If Trusova could nail 4T with some +GOE after two major crashes you may need to keep close and not trailing long below...

Also Shcherbakova proved she may do complex combos with 4Lz. She only needs to polish it.
I wonder why she isn't doing any 4T...
