I frankly don‘t understand why everyone is so sure Evgenia will get a ticket to Worlds and Euros. Before IdF, I was sure, too but after that? If she performs like she did there, she has no chance. Sofia never makes mistakes and even though she has a lower scoring potential than a clean Evgenia, she still made the GPF. Not even rusfed could justify sending Evgenia over Sofia if the former doesn’t skate at least like she did at SCI in the FS. I of course hope she shows her best at Nationals but there is a legitimate concern that she won‘t. If IdF was pressure, what will Nationals be? I‘m Zhenya‘s fan but for me it doesn‘t look as easy. Sofia is strong this season and in my opinion... yes, I have to say this, she deserves it.

I think Zhenya and her team underestimated the toll such changes take on the body and mind. I hope this extra time gave them the opportunity to sort things out but if not... well, then give Sofia the chance. She did everything she could this season. I‘ll admit, I‘d much rather see Zhenya at Worlds and Euros but only if she‘s ready.

Hmm I am not quite understanding. What will having a skater stay in juniors got to do with CSKA skaters being sent to senior?

1) You keep sending weak skaters at the most important competitions. I don't want to discuss who's to blame for that but Tsurskaya, Sotskova, Radionova, Panenkova's GP season has been a trainwreck, unacceptable given the level of russian ladies, it made the entire group look weak. So even if they skate well at nationals rewarding them with insanely inflated scores is damaging. It's time to give someone else like Tarakanova a chance to make a statement, it worked for Samodurova (who also was in danger of not getting any GP spot this season)

2) How's Radionova allowed to compete at Nationals despite looking a mess at the Test Skates and then WD every single event this season? and last year she finished 10th at Nationals.

The system is as bad as any other. I mean, koreans are appearently forcing their top male skater to do tons of national competitions despite injury regardless his international results so far, or something like that.

To start with, Samodurova has higher SB than Sakhanovich.
Yep, Sakhanovich has a good SB. But she also scored 174.36 at Inge Solar Memorial, why wouldnt you count that, for example?
Under any criteria, someone will not be able to make nationals because you literally cannot send all minimally decent skaters to rusnats. Someone will be left out.

Because they are not World champions anyway, and their terrible outing this season affected the whole movement on top of taking away spots for more deserving skaters.

Yes, team Buianova is struggling, but also how fair it is to throw skaters who had great results in the past because of one bad season. After all, last season, they performed well enough to get GPs this season. Don't they also deserve a chance?
This season, Sima performed well enough to likely get GP spot next season, and make Nationals next season.

I'm not that confident Sima will get a GP spot next season unfortunately especially without an appearance at Nationals, but of course i hope she will.

That's a lot more than 1 to me. Out of the big 3 - worlds, Olympics, Grand Prix Final, she won 2. She also won the Russian Nationals, which is probably the fiercest competition around.

Rusfed tends to send same team to euros and worlds.
They stick to it even if someone performs poorly at Euros, for example.

Rusfed now has more ladies talent and options than ever before. There is too much talent to automatically send someone who did poorly at Euros to world's. Other than the defending Olympic champion that is.

The pressure Russian ladies put on each other now is major and it the coming years it will be immense. We should sit back and enjoy it. Get your popcorn ready!

I don't know if she really is - someone asked Sima whether Liza Nugumanova would be at nationals (because they are both coached by Turenko) and she said yes. Since she was first alternate, that would mean that 1) either someone WD - likely Lena - or 2) they added a whole other flight, which is extremely unlikely

I base my guess on how russian FS people behave.
Regardless france, there was tons of support, including that coming from fed representatives. I mean, its basically "Zagi can't beat Kihira, Zagi should be perfect to have a chance, Zagi is done" after Zagitova got a GPF silver and "We all love Zhenya, it's all fault of evil h*ters" after Zhenya didn't make GPF at all.
This stuff is not just TAT and Co, this includes people from rusfed.

I would be extremely surprised if Zhenya didn't make the team. Even if Sofia beats her at rusnats.

Keep in mind that GP spots are not given by federation.
Sotskova, Tsurskaya, Radionova and Panenkova earned theirs by skating well last season.

There was first a video of her doing twizzles there, and then a video of her and Vika watching Anna Tarusina do an off-ice jump
And she no longer has "Sambo 70" on her IG bio - just Team Russia figure skater. So she could be with Davydov in CSKA - we will see at nationals

Liza Nugumanova might as well be taking over Liza Tuktik spot, because she is not competing. I hope she is still a lock for the national team

I do wonder if EVgenia will go to nats? Has she h ad enough time to get it together even somewhat? I also wonder how Evgenia's skating compares right now to Gracie's. A lot of people are giving Evgenia some grace or hope as to her situation but that is nothing compared to Gracie. Some made it sound like Gracie can do all the elements was an off day or she just needs more competition experience right now.

It will be interesting.

Also pneumonia can be rather serious thing - it means long period of recovery without training too. Which means that despite RusFed inclinations Tuktamysheva can still miss Euro/Worlds due to not being in competitive form. In that case it would open some opportunities for other skaters - and not only Zhenya :scratch3:

Poor Liza I hope she feels better soon. Cold air is torture on the lungs when you have pneumonia. I think her body of work speaks for itself this season though. So who will be added in her place?

Oh no I saw on Instagram that she had a fever but it turned out to be even more serious. I hope she's still selected for the world team on the basis of her achievements this year.

Maybe her spot could go to Serafima? (I think the other Liza qualified anyway since Lena withdrew from her GPS.)

We will only know for sure on the 14th who is actually competing [emoji23] rusfed is great at keeping people in the dark (also tbh I would prefer seeing a great Sima for example than a heartbreaking result from Lena juat bc she's not healed yet, so Wding might be the best decision for her)
