2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Does anyone know which recordings of "Kissing You" and "Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet" are used in Alena's FS program? And, while I'm at it, which recording of "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso" is used in Anna's FS program? (I think it's the Perlman recording?)

Yes, Orchestre de Paris, c. Jean Martinon, soloist Itzhak Perlman.

BTW, I just want to point out that Kostornaia would have won this Rus Nats had not she felt on that StepSeq in her SP. Such a pity. She lost like 4-5 points there. Judges gave her level 3 and -5 GOE for this element, also -1 deduction for the fall. We would have celebrated Alyona as Russian champ this year. However, I'm fine with any Eteri, non-Eteri or ex-Eteri girls on the podium. ;)

What if Sasha landed her second quad?

What a moment!!

I can't tell you for certain what the rationale behind it is, but I think it makes more sense now with the age cap at 14 than it did in the past when Liza Tuktamysheva was allowed to compete at age 11.

I think it makes less sense now. Nationals were all about being an open competition where the best skaters in the country competed, with the only dividing factor being gender. If you're good enough to qualify, then you should be able to compete whether you're aged 10, 20, or 40. I don't see why senior skaters need to be "protected" any more than they already are by the ISU.

As I predicted the Board looked for and found all the possible points to disgrace Trusova.

Maximize the 4T penalty and even that wasn't enough to kill her, so they were having to play with PCS. The TR especially.

Shame.

I thought Sasha’s Quad fall was rather graceful and certainly maintained connection to the music. Can’t believe a single judge didn’t give a -4 like they did with some other falls.

I’m like !!

OK. I have an idea for RusFed.

Let Zagi and Tukti rest till the Worlds. They earned it. They had their share of meltdowns, but posted highest scores this season and were more consistent than others. Don't send them to Euros. Liza won't be ready after her medical break, and Alina probably needs a rest too. Both physically and mentally. She is clearly struggling with those sudden 7-10 cm of extra height this season. :)

Send Med, Konsti and Samodu to battle it out at Euros. Whoever will be more consistent and place the highest - will join Alina and Liza for Worlds. Let the ice decide one more time. This would be fair. The third spot on the team is a fair game. Up for everyone to grab. I will be fine with the third spot to be decided between Zhenya, Stasya and Sofia at Euros. And I will be fine with any outcome.

LET THE ICE DECIDE. One more time. This would make peace among all the fans. And make fans from all the world watch Euros this season even more. North Americans and fans from Asia usually don't watch Euros, because lately everyone knows Russian ladies will sweep all the medals. This will make this competition even more exciting this year. Main theme of this Euros in Minsk would be: "The great battle of Minsk for the third Russian spot". Or smth.

Liza and Alina already have their own gold medals from the Euros. Why bother with another Euro title? Besides it would give a bit better chances for other non-Russian European ladies. Which would be a nice gesture by RusFed as well.. Just saying.

I already pitched this idea on twitter, let's see if it reaches RusFed somehow. :rolleye:

^That's an interesting idea. But I can understand why Liza and Alina would love the opportunity to be at Euros.

There is actually only one place to parcel out. Two highest scoring senior girls have their spots, both Alina and Stasya.

Could you imagine the situation if Alina got lower PCS und Sofia would place higher? In that case they could easily lose three spots for the next year...

So that's why Zagitova got the high 8's and 9's in PCS...too make sure that she was at least second of the age-eligible.

And I don't get the knocking of Sofia - she's probably the most consistent Russian senior skater this season as far as clean programs that she's putting out, I'm pretty sure her score sheets are cleaner than Zagitova's.

Quads by Alyona and Sasha, side by side (of course TAT is partially there too ):

https://twitter.com/yp1_ydct/status/1076606160193564673?s=20

and according to the scores:

Anna: 15.94 points/4.44 goe
Alexandra: 14.79 points/3.29 goe

I agree! In the air Anna's arms are barely noticeable, more tight and neat looking, while Alexandra's seem to stick out more. As for landings Anna's definitely gets the nob from me there too. The speed, flow and hold of the landing was amazing while Alexandra curved on the landing a bit and didn't flow as much.

Either way both were amazing! Very exciting to see TWO ladies land successful quads :agree:

I dunno, I kinda think for some reason they would rather gladly take a rest. TV exposure? They are already big names in the sport. They are all across the social media too. For training and confidence purposes? May be. But Liza probably won't recovery that fast, and Alina is struggling with her growth spurt.

I’m not too worried. Anna deserves her win and I absolutely love the Junior Takeover Podium. No matter the order :yay:

I do agree that they had every intention of lowering Sasha’s scores wherever they could :curse:

That si the big question. Will Liza be healthy and ready enough for euros, cause 2 weeks in a hospital and than beginning to train again when you couldn't even go to a gym for 2 weeks? Don't know if euros aren't to soon for Liza. And alina I just don't know. She obviously was in real pain today. Hope it is nothing serious and if it is that they do what they did for zhenya last year to sit at least euros out if it is really a serious injury . I mean god that girl had so much tape on her. Jesus. Because if both fall away for euros or one falls away than we have either Sofia or zhenya in the team for at least one competition

Zagitova's been taped up all year and she was taped up in some of the pictures I saw of some of the summer performances yet she was still doing triple jumps in meaningless skates like galas; I don't buy injury as an excuse for bad skates when the skaters are turning around and skating fine in exhibitions. If you're injured - you don't do exhibition skates or if you do it's doing watered down programs or programs choreographed without jumps.

Momentum is important. I can't imagine Alina would want to go into Worlds with this as her last showing.
