2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I love Tats propaganda. It’s like predicting where bouncy ball is gonna bounce to sometimes. I swear it was only a few months ago I was quoting her as someone defending Sasha and her quads. Now I feel like she’s completely changed her tune. Am I wrong?
you're not wrong.
it was not even a mounths ago... It was a few days ago. She was defending quads and 14 y.o age for RN. And next day... (when teams was announced) she is saying a totally different thing.
This show is always the same. One day TAT says one thing. Next day... the exact opposite.
I would say she has some ... mental problems.. or something that looks like this.

If you are being misunderstood, clarify. When moriel was misunderstood by another poster, that is what they did. No one is here to persecute you, but not everyone speaks English as their first language. Mistakes happen.

To bring the topic back to a cheerier subject, I heard the girls at RusNats got some chocolate thrown on the ice for them, and some girl even received a big pack of meat dumplings! [emoji3]
English is also not my first language that would indeed be german.and if Moriel doesn't understand something what I say than perhaps she or he should ask me how I meant it instead of assuming.that is what makes me angry. The assuming thing he or she does .

And again what do you think would happen with a foot which ankle literally almost shattered and you still go on with the training like nothing happened?
em.. Please, Please be so kind and share with us an everyday trining plan they used because it looks like you have it. We all would love to see it. After all you're saing so many many loud allegations.
Thank you in advance.

Please try not to take it personally or get too upset. This happened to me all the time. So much so, that I stopped attempting to write in Russian. Fortunately, there are so many Bi and Tri- Lingual posters on GS. Keep posting and things will get better. I promise.

Its just that I learned to ask if I don't understand something or someone than just to assume something. And as said person answers in English and not broken but really good English he or she can just ask me if he or she doesn't understand or isn't sure if she understood what I said. ..

I‘m still of the opinion that, after seeing a podium full of juniors, there is a legitimate concern about raising the age limit and it doesn‘t have to do solely with Medvedeva or the Olympics. .

I don't link the podium full of juniors at recent Rusnats with the need for the age limit increase. We are not talking about some juniors: these are the juniors the world has never seen before.

I also said that we will never know if eteri would have changed her trainings method for zhenya. Mabye yes mabye no. The fact is that zhenya herself said the old method won't work anymore for her. And you do know that is is known that her old trainings method was repetition over repition? At least that what you hear and read. Do you think a shattered ankle which is newly healed could withstand such huge amount of pressure for a long long time . At least I don't think so. That is my own opinion!!!! maybe a year? Maybe more or less . But that's not what zhenya wants for her future. Zhenya wants to stay in the sport for years to come .And I do believe zhenya herself knows best what is good for her health

I think that TAT just wants to be relevant as long as it takes. And being quite old she not always understands the consequences of her words and actions.

Huh? Do we have to know the exact training plan to know that it was based on countless repetition? Zhenya has said that, Eteri herself has said that. We aren‘t hating on Eteri or her system, we merely say that for Zhenya with her injuries this method wouldn‘t have worked anymore and that‘s why she changed coaches. We don’t know whether Eteri would have changed her method for Zhenya or not and we will never find out because she changed coaches before anything of that sort could have happened.

And Eteri’s system made her successful in the first place, it would be dumb to hate on it. We just want people to understand that no matter the results she might have had with Eteri, it doesn‘t matter because she felt like she physically and psychologically could just not have continued to train there. And if you don‘t feel comfortable at the place where you‘re supposed to train day in and out, the only option is to change. That‘s what she did. And that‘s also what makes it so annoying when people constantly question her decision. Because they aren‘t in her place and don‘t really know her reasons or how she‘s feeling.

Not the jump technique, obviously, but the training system of endless repetitions. Zhenya had a stress fracture, it wasn‘t a simple accident from falling from a jump that resulted in her breaking her foot. It‘s very obvious where that came from. Her bone literally cracked due to the pressure that’s been put on it for years. And as to not make it worse she has to find an approach where endless repetitions aren‘t needed.

The mantra about her previous jump technique that ruined her body and had to be changed for me is ridiculous. I think it is just in the minds of those fans who defend her move to Orser and hope that she will "show them all next season". I have not heard any professional opinion on that and I don't believe in it. I don't think that she would have big issues if she stayed with Eteri. On the contrary, with struggling Alina Zhenya could have regained her #1 status this season which now seems like science fiction. And next year we have Rika + 3A. Welcome to win over them even with "new and better technique".

Like I said in my post above, Zhenya said she could not have stayed with Eteri. She said there are reasons but we will never find out. So, even though I admittedly wonder sometimes what would have happened with Zhenya under Eteri this year and in the future, I understand that she didn‘t feel comfortable there anymore and we have to accept it. It is what it is. I hope Orser‘s approach pays off one day but who knows.

Do you think I like to see Zhenya struggle like she did this season? No, but I have to accept her decision because in the end she will know better than we do what‘s best for her.

Well who is to say that they will be skating clean in all those competitions? We never know what can happen. In competitions everything can happen. We have seen rika and the 3A being clean , we have seen them falling on 3A and quads already too same as we see every other skater Fall or skate clean. And haven't you heard zhenya? She herself said the old methods wouldn't work for her anymore.! That is a fact. She said in in a recent interview! I do believe she herself knows better than we here that don't even know her what is good for her health and what is not! If she thought and still thinks she did the right thing than it is the right thing for her. Her live , her decisions. And again I have read things from different coaches saying that yes training an adult body is different than training a pree teen/teen body and it takes different training approaches. The entire balance of the body is different ect. The question would have been would have eteri changed her trainings way with zhenya or not. Which is a question with no answer and we will never get said answer.

But hey you are welcome to try figure ice skating, than have a stress fracture and apparently a compression fracture at the spine. And than train like before wich is repetition, repetition and again and again. Than tell us if you body can substain this training for a longer time after that ., since it is the right foot that is fractured which is the foot that has to take your entire weight and impact while landing the jumps. I know my body well and i know it wouldn't take that pressure. Ok I also have to say ever persons body is different as well but I would really be interested in your experience. lets see if it is just in our minds and therefore also in zhenyas mind since she already said the old methods won't work for her anymore.

I would discount what Zhenya said. As I wrote half a year ago no one can imagine the psychological blow on her after she had not won with 2 clean skates. I don't know what I or someone else would have done in her place. And I don't know what we would say, especially having mom, grandmother, TAT and many other advisors nearby. That's why I supported her move back then thinking that it would be a torture for her to train on the same ice with Zagitova....But time heals. And thinking back, her taking 4-5 month break, focusing on health, going to Tibet to clear the mind and returning to Sambo might have brought much higher payback than what we have now.

And for the 100th time, I don't understand the long-term talks. And not only I - some big names openly said that they are disappointed. All previous comebacks where in another era. Not with Rika and her multiple triple axels, not with the reigning OGM trying to stay relevant, not with quad babies coming. I am skeptical, for example, that we will see "the most decorated skater of the previous quad" competing next season. Because the landscape will be very different for those who don't just love to skate but who aim at big podiums.

Folks just a reminder, lets not spread rumours.

When someone says "Zhenya was training on a shattered ankle", please link interviews and other sources.

What would you expect her to say? I was wrong to go to Orser, dear Eteri, forgive me? Of course, she will never admit that she made a mistake. Saying that old methods would not have worked is the easiest way to send probing journalists away.

As moriel said, there are no healthy figure skaters. Fresh after a big injury, Zhenya showed in Korea the level of skating she could never repeat so far.

As far as I know ( but could be wrong)pumped full with painkillers. She basically forced herself , her body to function. It is a testament to her pure will and determination. And yes she gave her everything there, gave her whole soul out there on the ice and got 2 clean skates, but if I look at her free I was really scared at some jumps because she looked a bit unsteady sometimes. And I do think ( again think no know)that this made her injury worse. But naturally no one in their right mind would withdraw from mabye the only Olympics ever in their life.

And mabye it still wasn't a mistake.and mabye she is telling the truth. Again are you zhenya herself?no so again don't assume to know if she thinks it was a mistake or not. Again her live, her decisions.

I remember her perfect Olympic skating that made me and my wife cry - we were seating on the second row. I don't remember any shaky landings. She never skated like that afterwards whatever the reasons could be.

I am finishing arguing with you because it is likely of no value to others. I replied to your "it's a fact". No, it is not a fact - it is what she said. And she said many things like "get rid of us - we continue to work with my coach".
