2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

The other thing is the "wait until after puberty" . That ship has sailed. She has been in puberty for quite some time, with only slight challenges to the jumps. There is a pic of Trusova and her mother standing together, her mother is very tiny. Sorry folks, unless she breaks something, her jumps are here to stay, and little will be affected by 'puberty' changes. She is just...astounding.
You all know that puberty doesn't mean only growing right? And besides growing once doesn't mean it can't happen in a year or so again.,

Besides, I think these 4F videos are old news. Alina supposed to be on a break now? She is visiting her family in Izhevsk, she is going to celebrate NY there. Rozanov is a new coach at Eteri+Daniil+Sergey team. He posted this first in his IG, and then this video was RT'ed at the speed of light all across the social networks, but I think these videos were made a while ago. A working progress of sort.

And Eteri is not even there. She is atm vacationing on some tropical islands with her daughter Diana. Check her Instagram. For some reason I doubt they will try something funny without Eteri presence. ;)

Just a thought. These videos of 4Fs by Alina and Sasha is probably just a teaser, a PR stunt of sorts. Just an elegant gesture to wish every fan (and hater) out there: "Happy holidays, folks!". So we can all have something interesting and controversial to talk about at our dinner tables (and forums) ...;) Mission accomplished.

no. She is not.
She will go to Izhevsk. but later. She is in Moscow now.
Yesterday she was at some Sambo-70 celebration. https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5ZvuHgK9K/ then at practice session. Fans gave her some presents at the ice rink.. https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5rDS9HBoh/

These 4F videos were filmed today. Some journalists from Japan have been there too as I heard.

Diana is on some island .. that doesn't really mean that Eteri too. And even if ... Dudakov and Rosanov more than enough to work with skaters. Rosanov works with them for more than 1.5 years already. He is not really "new". (btw he was the one who posted Sasha's 4Lz and Alena's 3A at the first place https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg1LHsAn6aU/ )

Oh, ok. Alina is still in Moscow, I thought she is chilling already. :)

At this point, i wonder if first 4A will be landed by men or by Trusova.
I mean, surely, if she is having trouble with 3A, a quad of that will be much easier for her.

4F:
Alexandra Trusova*

she did it in practice after all.

well yeah, that's why I said pretty soon because I bet it won't be that long (at least for Sasha who seems to learn quads faster than most people learn triples )

Sasha may have the variety, but I still think Shcherbakova has a far better quad. I haven't seen her or Trusova in person, but Anna looked to have great distance on her 4Lz at Russian Nationals. Sasha's height and distance seems to be what a lot of skaters do on triples. If they were to both lose their quads once they become senior skaters (which may not happen, who knows), I think Anna would still have the ability to do big triples just based on the quality she shows on her 4Lz.

As much as I love Anna, Sasha’s quads are a lot (I mean A LOT) bigger than Anya’s. I do agree that overall, Anna’s quads look better in terms of landings and rotations, but Sasha’s are definitely bigger. Her 4T is 63 cm I think. There was a thread about this way back when, overall, Sasha had the biggest jumps of all juniors. Anna’s triples are really tiny. Her 4Lz height and distance is pretty good and all, but for some reason her triples are still relatively small and they rely quite heavily on her rotational speed. If they were to loose their quads, Sasha would still have pretty big jumps.

I think Anna’s lutz looks bigger because it has more distance vs. Sasha’s which is more up and down. Sasha’s toe is massive though.

TBH, in Alina's case, i think they are not seriously training quads atm.
Not before europeans and worlds where she needs to focus to skate clean, not when she is skating through pain. My guess is that they just resumed their previous attepts to have some fun before the new year, and maybe to boost her self esteem.

But maybe next year we will see it in competition

em.. no.
Anna's and Sasha's quads are different.
But Sasha's quads are not small.... In reality it is a totally opposite. Her 4T - 60-65cm. and to be honest. Sasha's 4T has better height and distance and flow than most of current senior men field.
4T https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO6ibWgl_rQ
and her (4T+3T+1Eu+3S+1Eu+3S+1Eu+3S) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enc_IUHj4oE

+10000 agree

I was thinking the same. But what we know for sure is that Alina does quad jumps there sometimes. Was it just a single attempt for a day? Is Alina seriously decided to give it a try to get herself a quad in a repertoire.? Is it an attempt to fix her recent UR issues? We don't know for sure.

So many questions, so many! We really need them to install a webcamera in there, so fans can control every single stride on Khrustalny ice-rink. :rofl2:

Whatever she does, pretty sure the goal is not to land a quad by worlds.
Probably, it is a mix of have fun + increase confidence + improve fitness + improve height and distance for triples, and not a "ok, we are learning a quad right now".

Puberty is not a "one and done" thing. Girls grow until they are 18-19. There could be big spurts of height, filling out, changing proportions, mental maturity, etc. But it doesn't all happen at once, and even when there is a big spurt, they're still not done growing. That doesn't mean it's impossible that Sasha (or any one of them) isn't just short and may stay that way. It's just strange and almost unhealthy the way some people talk about puberty.

Either way, quads (and even triples) are hard and these girls will have to work hard to keep their jumps and keep improving. I wish them nothing but the best.

I don't know why, but in the 4T+3T+..... it looks like for the 4T she uses more strength and height instead of rotation speed compared to the triples. I think that in general while her triples are amazing as they are, you can really see more explosive power and strength overall for her quads.

In her fan fest they compared her jumps to going into Jet Pack Mode :eeking:
