2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

What little I've seen of Yulia's Nutcracker performances (which I've been having to hunt on Instagram for) its amazing that she's maintained her flexibility and been able to keep her crazy flexible spins considering she's been out of competition for 2 years.

And as an addition, her spins look super centered now too!

Some random thoughts:

Kostornaia's gala performance from Vancouver looks incredibly magical. Lights, camerawork, suit made outstanding picture.
Unfortunately Trusova is now too old for Big Spender although 4T in second half of the program is impressive.

14 is too old to skate to 'Big Spender'? Did you listen to the lyrics?

This page lists Lena Radionova as retired as of December 24th 2018. Is this true? Does anyone have some infos about this?

Well, there is no footnote to the source of this information, so we'll have to wait for official confirmation from reliable sources. The Wikipedia page on her personally also lists her as retired though.

"Retirement

After bad injuries and coaching problems and some boot issues she retired in late 2018."

The isu bio doesn't have anything about her retirement, as well as the statements not having any sources I am hoping it is just people that have assumed it instead of the actual truth

I hope she can get married and do shows like Anna. They are both very beautiful young ladies and Elena would enjoy doing many shows in the future without the pressure of competitions. It is a shame that the beautiful sport of figure skating is so brutal with injuries and pressure and expectations.

Sad news... I didn't read anything official, but it might be true, taken into consideration the latest developments (back injury, lack of training, holidays and so on).
Lena was one of my favorites because of her joy and passion for skating. i am sure she will be very good in shows.

Lack of training? Was that confirmed? Considering Lena never really posted a lot of training, that could stem back to the injury. Regardless I hope it's just false news

If true, sad but not surprising. The best she could've hoped for if she continued is a Leonova-type situation, and while that's a fine situation if you truly love skating for the sake of skating, it's not enough for most people. A young lady like her certainly has many career opportunities and possibilities for where to take the rest of her life.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, but I removed the notes of Radionova's retirement from her Wikipedia page and the 2018-19 season page because of the lack of citations. If it isn't true, it's not fair to keep leading fans to speculate.

Edit: I also reached out to the user who posted the information. I'm curious who or what their source is...

Lena should have tried with a different coach, kinda sad to see this, but not surprising, i think she can still do a lot for this sport, and pretty sure she will continue to work in figure skating maybe as a coach.

I hope i'm wrong but i see Sotskova and Tsurskaya right next to her if nothing changes.
