2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Calm down, it will depend on Euros. Alina and Liza are locks regardless for the team because both medaled at GPF and Alina is more than likely to take home the gold at Euros. So, it will be Stasya, Sofia or Evgenia for the last spot. Who knows what they‘re planning on doing. It will depend on how the first two perform at Euros and Zhenya will likely get a chance to prove she‘s ready. Maybe Universiade or Russian Cup Final.

I still don‘t understand why they don‘t just send Liza to the Russian Cup Final to show she’s ready. If she is, she doesn’t have to do Universiade and can rather concentrate properly on Worlds. Then choose the one who did better at Euros and got Silver and give her the third spot. Zhenya and the Euros girl who‘s left off the Worlds team get sent to Universiade. Everyone would be happy and it would be a fair decision too.

I seriously want Zhenya at the Universiade and not at Worlds but oh well... it would solve many problems but it might be too simple and logical of a solution for RusFed...
Thee fact still is that if zhenya Can skate 2 Clean skate at worlds than she has a much higher scoring potential than Sofia or stasya. And that is what Russia needs against the other girls4woman at world's. There will be the Japanese girls ect, Carol, I don't know mabye kaetlyn? (With her I have no idea if she is even considered for world's at all) . The question is is zhenya over her mental wall now after Russian nationals or not. If not than send Sofia, Liza and alina. But if she is ready than the best team would be alina, Liza, zhenya

Unfortunately I don’t see Nastya getting a senior GP spot next season, she’s just too far down on the SB list to be guaranteed one and it’s clear from how underscored she was at nationals that she’s not a favourite of the fed. I agree with everyone who says she should stay another year in juniors, it definitely seems to be the best option for her because with 3A gone she will be pretty much the top junior lady and can seriously compete for JGPF and JW gold. I think if she won either of those she would be in a much stronger position to then make her senior debut the following year as it would build both her confidence and her reputation.

And for everyone who thinks staying in juniors another year would be bad because she’d be too old or something like that, just consider that she would make her senior debut at age 16, the same age Alena will be on her debut and the same age Sonya was on her debut this season.

I am not sure about that. With Alysa Liu, Dasha, Kamila and Maya entering Juniors and Alena Kanysheva still in juniors I do not think that Anastasia will be the number 1 if she would stay in juniors.

She didn't skate two clean programs back to back this season. In fact, she was not clean even once. The closest to a clean skate was her FS at SC, with a !, e, < and two V on jumps.

Nastya turns 15 on April of this year, which means she would be 17 at her senior debut if she stays in juniors for her third year.

And pretty sure Kamila Valieva will be the next star in juniors next season, Eteri always has a new champion every year.

I am not sure about that. With Alysa Liu, Dasha, Kamila and Maya entering Juniors and Alena Kanysheva still in juniors I do not think that Anastasia will be the number 1 if she would stay in juniors.

It’s true that they all seem promising but we don’t really know how good they’re going to be on an international stage - aside from Kanysheva obviously, who I assume would be Nastya’s biggest competition - and it’s unlikely that they would all immediately get high scores their first season in juniors, unless like others said they pull out quads and 3A. Of course, Alysa Liu can apparently do these and I won’t pretend to know a lot about her but I doubt she will be very consistent with those big jumps.

Thats why I said if. And that's the question here. But if she can pull that off than yes she is the better choice. , I know that Sofia has been absolutely consistent but I just don't know if she can get more than a few points higher still.and While I do like stasya I just don't see her at world's. So yes I do think it will be either Sofia, alina and Liza or zhenya,Liza and alina. But still even alina could bomb at euros. We have seen it before. I just don't think anyone is safe

Alysa Liu's 3 Axels are very consistent, she usally lands them all the time. At her last competition she landed all 3 of them. She gets high technical scores. That she cannot do a 3 Axel in her SP will hurt her score in juniors but her FS scores are very high even with Junior PCs. My prediction is that Kamila, Dasha and Alysa will dominate next season. Maybe Alena Kanysheva as well

Also she can do what Tarusina did this season- 2 JGPs and a challenger for her senior debut to hopefully get a higher SB score with the Choreo Seq. Sotskova did this as well I believe when she was held in juniors an extra season.

Moriel's point is that Evgenia should not, under any circumstance, be sent to Worlds. Didn't you read Moriel's previous post - very clearly that "i will be majorly upset, and scream lots of profanities about rusfed, about Zhenya visiting politicians, TAT and all that stuff." I bet the RusFed will, from now on, be careful with how it conducts itself, its decisions and pronouncements, lest it upsets Moriel.

I have nothing against Alysa but her 3A look even less sustainable than Trusova‘s or Shcherbakova‘s quads. The technique is wild and she seems unpolished as well. She is pretty young, though, not even junior eligible so a lot of things can change. But I will choose to wait for her junior debut before calling her the next big thing.

That‘s honestly one of the reasons I don‘t want Zhenya at worlds this year. Not because it could upset Moriel lol but rather because the comments of people towards Zhenya when she wouldn‘t be perfect there and didn‘t get a medal would be even more nasty than they’re already. Conveniently ignoring the fact that the third lady is very unlikely to medal anyway and only Alina and Liza really have a chance and blaming it all on Rusfed, TAT and the unfairness of the universe that makes life so easy for Zhenya. And she really doesn’t need more hate directed at her.

Yep forgot that post completely. But hey she can scream all she wants but tis still the fact that yes if (and that is the main question) zhenya can go clean than she has a really high scoring potential. Higher than Sofia and stasya . Again I am of 2 minds on one hand I don't know if zhenya is really ready for world's or even if it would be good for her but on the other hand I want to see her at world's and think if she does indeed go clean there it would be so good for her . And being as confident as in her fs at RusNats. . But as I said I think no one is safe yet not even alina. I don't know what they would do if she bombs at euros for example. Do I think she is the safest of all to get a spot at world's yes but hey one can never be sure

They would be stupid not to give a spot to Alina, regardless of whether she bombs at Euros or not. Honestly, if one argues Zhenya has higher scoring potential and thus should be sent, they should also admit that Alina probably has the highest scoring potential of all Russians right now, being Olympic Champion and having the most difficult layout and all. Liza has 3A but her PCS aren‘t high at all. We can talk about Alina‘s scores all day but fact is, she medaled at GPF and is the only chance Russia has this year for a gold at Worlds (maybe together with Liza) So, yep, Alina‘s spot should be safe. She‘s been struggling at Nats but she still deserves it, given how the rest of her season went.

I honestly think Zhenya isn‘t ready for Worlds. I want her at the Universiade. Worlds, I feel, is too much at the moment. But who knows what will happen...

You know, her 3A technique actually kind of reminds me of Mao's from when she was younger

I do think Nastya will have an easier time in juniors next season than this, but I don't think it will be a walk in the park at all. In addition to Alysa, obviously, at this point before jr. nationals I would expect the Russian JGP team to have Kanysheva, Tarakanova, Valieva, Usacheva, Kromykh, Sinitsyna, Vasilieva, and one more (Safonova? Kostyuk? Chistaykova? - if she is indeed with Eteri and pulls off a huge transformation)

I also hope that alina will def. Get a spot for worlds

Why does this discussion about Zhenya at worlds again? Can we at least wait until Europeans is over to start arguing so we might hear some new arguments, nobody will convince anybody like this anyways.

The 3 best ladies from RusNats go to Europeans, everything is fine so far (and who knows what will happen... )

Liza is also in good health and has started training difficult jumps already

What I read from Mishins Interview is that they don't really want to sent Liza to Universiade and will only do so if RusFed needs to see her again before giving her the worlds spot. Everything might lead to a drama free and fair (!) solution if Liza and Zhenya do fine at the cup final, and Sofia gets silver at Europeans.

Universiade: Stasya, Zhenya
Worlds: Alina, Liza, Sofia

TAT and her TV crew could also promote the Universiade as the most important tournament of the year (tm), lobby for good marks for both because it's in Russia and get the tournament a lot of publicity :)

But what do I know, it's RusFed and dumb politicking.

I just hope the Tarusina the Buianova theory is not true :( I'm also scared of Kanysheva to Buianova and I don't even know why

Yes, IF Zhenya can go clean, she has high scoring potential.
And IF Alina lands a quad, she can score 250 across two programs.

IF.

Mishin said we may have 2 replacements in team.

Moriel is one of the most sensible posters on here. How many others bring in statistics to support their points? Just because moriel isn't #1 fan of your favorite doesn't mean that they deserved to be screamed at. I like that moriel's posts are researched and informative, even when they are not flattering to my favorite.

I notice that no one has bothered to argue with moriel's numbers. Possibly numbers are harder to argue with?

This should be directed at Moriel, because she was the one who said:

I‘m sorry but could you point out who was screaming at moriel in their posts because I really cannot find anyone? :scratch2:
